🤠 Jeff was one of the few artists that could give Stevie a run for his money! R.I.P. to both gone WAY too soon! 🙏🙏🎸🎸💙💙

Actually Stevie discovered Jeff when Jeff was only 19 and helped to promote and showcase him. They were great friends✌️🎶

He was in my rehearsal studio in 1987 in Vancouver to pre produce See the Light and Angel Eyes. He blew the doors off the place for two days and went on to his incredible career. Jeff passed in March of 2008. He is missed to this very day. B Studio 80

On things that I have noticed about Stevie, having watched many of his collaborations, he was confident enough that he always seemed to go out of his way to not show-up his collaborators. He always seems to take his own playing down a couple of notches so the person playing with him could shine. I love that.

I think you could tell from this video that Jeff was really stoking Stevie to push deeper. You could see during Jeff's lead break that Stevie was totally vibing off Jeff's licks. You could even see Stevie go "Woah!" toward the end of Jeff's solo. Stevie really loved sitting in and jamming with people he respected. It started when he was about 17 jamming with his guitar hero Albert King at Antone's club in Austin.

Great reaction to two of the most stellar musicians ever🎸🎶‼️. I love their collaboration. I would suggest you check out some of Stevie's original songs to get a feel for his own work. "Couldn't Stand the Weather", "Ain't Gone N Give Up On Love", and a very special one he wrote for his good friend, Charley Wirz, a Dallas guitar shop owner who passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack called "Life Without You". Charley was the one who put that white guitar together from spare parts for Stevie. That white guitar is named "Charley". Thanks for bringing this today✌️🎉🪅🎊

In 1988 i think it was, , when I was in college, I was fortunate to help set up for a concert at our college. I held his guitar and even strummed a couple chords for soundcheck. Then I spent the whole set standing 5 feet away from him watching his mastery. Then SRV....I was on my honeymoon. I was sitting in the lobby area of the resort I was at in Cuba getting a stogy rolled for me, when the news of his passing came on the TV...a truly horrible moment in my memories. No longer married too lol.

Have to say thank you very much for this one. Didn’t know they jammed together. They both were feeling it. Stevie Ray did a session with Albert king. That was amazing as well. From what I understand, Albert king was stevie ray's biggest influence and idol. And Albert king rarely sat down with anybody and played. After the session, the king took a liking to Vaughn and they became pretty good friends. How often does that happen to meet and play with your idol? And end up befriending each other. Both men are a class act. Thanks again for the content.

Jeff was blind. He was discoveted by SRV. SRV was discovered by David Bowie. If you listen to Bowie's Let's Dance you can hear SRV on guitar. SRV's brother is Jimmy. Jimmy's band is The Fabulous Thunderbirds.

This is THE BLUES, son! This is how it all got started. Now - RORY GALLAGHER. A one-man encyclopedia of blues history and technique. Never became a star, but everyone else - Muddy, The Stones, Clapton, Garry Moore, etc. - worshipped him.

I am not a guitarist. Jeff plays the guitar on his lap, which is unusual, but he still kills it. My questions are, how does he stand up and play his guitar at that same level without a strap? How does he hold it and play at the same time?

I have over the years come to the conclusion that. Yes SRV was if not the best (it's really not a competition) then among the best blues guitarists who have set foot on this earth. But it wouldn't have been the same level of musicality, if he didn't play with Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon (Double Trouble). Those 3 guys' feel for the music and each other where exceptional.
