Ricky is a true statesman for country and bluegrass music.

I ran stage monitors at a bluegrass festival in Louisville in 1980. Skaggs was touring with Emmylou Harris who was headlining the final night. He sat in with everyone: Bill Monroe, The Whites and many more. Played every instrument imaginable. He was not a star at that point, or not that I knew of but what a player.

God bless you Joe. I'm from Minnesota, but I grew up listening to bluegrass and country, after church, all day long. I love Minnesota and the Mississippi, but when I went to Kentucky, Tennessee, North and South Carolina, I felt like I was home down to my soul. Keep up the great work.

Another great interview. You know as I watch these, I am amazed at the gentle kindness of the musicians toward each other and the simple and humble attitude toward their own talents and greatness. In the 60s and 70s I lived in Pasadena, California and worked with a few studios and artists around Hollywood as a "techie". It was exciting and fun, but many, many of the people in the music business were total anal orifices. So much so that I told my two kids that they could have any career they wanted, but not in the record business. Nice to see these great people, on these interviews.

Great interview! I really appreciate how you let the folks drive the conversation once you kick start it with a question. Joe you have a gift for this and are doing a fabulous job. Ricky Skaggs strikes me as one of the humblest people in the music business. Most people who are involved in bluegrass seem to be as well. I love to hear him sing. I was amazed at how Keith Whitley got his start. I had no idea, I always thought he just popped up on the country scene. Thanks for the surprises and also the pictures you add, they are such a great addition to make these shows complete. Thanks so much for your hard work. Now just don’t make us wait too long for part 2.

Joe, sincere thanks for creating and hosting MHOF&M. I've been a session player and songwriter for nearly 50 years, so I know how special a "backstage" look really is. Great to see the personal side of all the stars you highlight. Do you just happen to know everybody you have on as guests, or does your phone ring all the time with folks wanting to tell you their stories? Ha ha. Either way, you've created something very special. Kudos for your work.

Hi Dave... first thank you for watching and supporting our channel. Second tell me a little about you. As for knowing everyone... well kinda. I started filming these interviews in 2004 and got the museum open 2006. I’ve met a lot since starting the museum but already knew most of the guys from playing, writing and producing and then owning a few guitar stores most of my life before founding the museum. A lot of my friends knew people I didn’t know etc. but like I usually tell people when I get this question... plumbers know plumbers, pickers know pickers:) Since we started airing the interviews on local CBS affiliate channel in Nashville and then on RU-vid last year( 2019) I get a few request to be on the show but mostly I invite them. Thanks again for watching....Joe

@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum Wow, Joe! Thank you for such a wonderful reply. I’m one of those countless names and faces in music that nobody will ever know. Atlanta is my hometown, and Georgia is where I live today. Started out at age 10 in a little band that opened fair dates around the southeast for Kitty Wells and Stringbean. Started doing session work when I was 18 at studios in Atlanta. Later moved to the Memphis area in 1978 and live there until 1983. During that time did sessions at Sun Records Studios and Royal Studios with Willie Mitchell producing. Moved back to Georgia in ‘83 because of family concerns. Since that time I have written and produced themes and bumper music for television shows on Sportsman Channel. Bands I have been in through the years have opened for CCR, Jimmy Hall (Wet Willie), and a number of other groups. Most recently I have collaborated with some pretty successful current Nashville writers. So far, nothing finished or published. Still looking for that big break in my 60s. Haha. Love your channel. Would love to sit down for coffee sometime when I’m in Nashville visiting my daughter. Thanks again for the reply. I am probably your most avid fan. David

David... I’m from Columbus. Moved permanently to Nashville in May 78. Had a band in high school I started in 69. Won Jaycees national Battle of the Bands in 72. Ended up here and did the opposite of my dream of being in a successful rock/R&B band instead becoming a country songwriter. Weird but I loved it too. Thanks for watching... best... Joe
