Another crazy thing is a part of this song is bringing awareness to gang violence and king von is featured in the video at 5:20 and 6:44 who unfortunately lost his life due to being shot by a rival gang member in November

That piano melody originally comes from the song: “The Way It Is” by Bruce Hornsby. Over time many rappers have sampled this melody, however the most iconic song using this sample would have to be “Changes” by 2pac. I definitely recommend giving that song a listen, as well as some other songs from 2pac’s discography.

Can you check out Ez (Easy) Mil? He’s flying under the radar right now. He’s a 22 year old independent artist who can rap in multiple languages, can sing sing (no auto tune), and makes his own beats. He put out a dope album, Act 1, with rap, R&B and rock on it. Check out his recent freestyle on Power 106 in LA to see what he’s about. It’s short but he nods to some of the greats on that one.

to answer your question, this song didn’t blow up too much because Polo G wrote it as a tribute to Tupac’s song “Changes.” The issue is a lot of people came at him for touching on Tupac’s legacy regardless of how beautiful the song really was. It was also released before the death of George Floyd, which I find interesting. Had it been released after, I’m positive this would’ve been a smash hit.
