China lost fighting Japan with Korea at the center (Cheng Dynasty-Japan War), and later Russia competed with Japan with Korea at the center (Russia-Japan War). Japan won two wars and Korea was eventually annexed by Japan, some fighters entered the Republic of China Army or the Communist Party of China and some were active in the Japanese Army. In fact, one of the Koreans later rises to the rank of lieutenant general of the Republic of China and the other to the rank of lieutenant general of the Japanese army. The general who jumped into the Republic of China led one division in the Battle of Changsha and Shanghai, and the general from the Japanese army was only a regimental commander and later appointed as the second major general to Philippine prisoner of war.
