Australian television documentary that describes the four days of nonviolent military revolt that saw the ouster of President Ferdinand Marcos from the Philippines. Explains who participated in the revolt and why it was successful
Remember I was in pre-school during that time. I have an uncle who serve in Philippine army scout rangers (God rest his soul) and my aunt ( mom's sister and his fiance) told me that he defected with the rebel camp. That was a very tense time to our family before.

I was in grade 1 at that time and as a naive child, I thought people were having a lively party at EDSA when the TV show suddenly switched to the live coverage of EDSA. I was at my grandparent's house playing with my aunt who is the same age as me while watching TV, Then when it suddenly aired the huge crowds at EDSA, I wanted to go but my family didn't want to go. We didn't have school because all our teachers and school principal were at EDSA.

These are the chronology of events that transpired in history, the clips featured were the REAL TIME fotages of the moments captured as they unfold right before the eye of us Filipinos who lived During the era. The same that we knew and saw then, and the same that we reminisce to this day. This is the HISTORY that I know of.
its not a chronology. can't you see. it was told according to what was seen outside the palace. however, you can't deny the fact that if Marcos bombed and listened to Gen. Ver to kill the mutineers, then that 1986 would not be peaceful after all. it takes two to tango. so don't take the credit as if this is the whole history. it is just part of the history.
@@ricebread9186 so what’s your point in saying “if marcos bommed and listened to gen Ver to kill the mutineers “ marcos ignoring Gen ver was itself part of history.. it was indeed what happened inside malacanang.....there are no “what if’s” in history unless you are trying to tweak it to your own liking......infact that footage only surfaced later to present the fair chronology of events for everyone to understand what was really going on from both side of the fence..... all the other footages were the ones heared and seen ‘real time’ and unfiltered over the radio and television back then....history is history and it only takes a moment to make one. These events were all part of it, and you cant deny things that happened from happening. To be fair, A chronology help to understand things better and it is only in snippets that things are taken out of context to become a lie.

I was there. Clark Air Base was my first US Air Force duty station. Coincidentally, the US air wing was away for a war game exercise in Korea, when suddenly the whole Philippines Air Force came and landed on our base. I listened to the radio as a general called for other generals by name to join their side. On the radio, Cardinal Sin asked for "all religious people" to come on the streets and help keep the peace. It was tense, and all American military people were ordered to stay home. No flying would be allowed. So my roommates and I sat and watched TV. Then, about midnight, we heard an American helicopter flying fast and low over our house. My roomies, both navigators, knew the direction the chopper had come from. "THAT'S HIM!" We piled into my car and raced to the base. There, on the American base, Filipino troops lined the streets with M-16s at attention. American troops transferred boxes from trucks to a giant cargo jet. It was quiet. My friends and I stood on the tarmac at the end of the runway, drinking our cocktails and waiting. Then, as the sun rose, the C-141 and a C-9 medevac jet lifted off and flew directly over our heads. A few minutes later, I went to my usual morning meeting, where the colonel announced that Marcos had rested a few hours at the base hotel and has now left. Only three people know the destination, the colonel said. Marcos, the General at headquarters, and the pilot. I was so proud of the Philippine people for pulling off a bloodless coup. His time was over, and everyone knew it but him. The next day, the pilot who flew him out--my college buddy--took me by chopper to the palace to deliver a bomb-sniffing dog team and two men in black suits who never said a word.
Ito ang pinakamalagim na pangyayari sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas... at yugto sa kasaysayan ng pilipinas na nanaig ang kasamaan .... kaya never again as Edsa revolution....
If Marcos have stayed in power, the Philippines would have turned into a failed state due to rampant corruption, cronyism, and a falling economy. Stop spewing lies.

NEVER AGAIN TO DILAWAN!!!
I still do not understand why Philippine warplanes shot at houses in Dasmariñas Village during the EDSA revolution. Our house was shot, damaging the roof, penetrating the ceiling, hitting my drawer and some other furniture. My mother was also hit in the shin (she still has shrapnel in her bone); but she is ok. Our neighbor was Lopez (the owner of ABS CBN). I always wondered if they made a mistake targeting our house. My uncle a history buff, kept some of the shrapnel as mementos. None of my classmates ever believed me, and thought it was “kwentong barbero” I wish it was. Even at a young age I was able to recognize the fear in my grandparents, parents, kasambahay and siblings eyes. Hearing those faint shots pierce the night, followed by crunching sounds; then my mother’s screaming, are sounds I will never forget.
Ha ha ha, the dictator's playbook - make people distrust media. The media are merely carrier of the news. There is no way that revolt can be twisted. If the Philippines under Marcos was heaven on earth, why did millions of people march the streets for his ouster? And don't tell me that it was the media that influenced those people to revolt because all the major dailies, tv and radio network were for the administration. Every major media organization was afraid of him. The revolt was a result of dire economic hardships, vulgar display of power and the stifling of democracy. Find out the economic indicators of the Philippines from 75 to 86 at DBP , WB/IMF. If you are smart enough, you will never blame the media for Marcos' ouster. Wag tayong maging bobo mag Google po tayo.
The sad fact was, a wrong leader was put to power post Edsa revolt. The oligarchs economy flourished, the lives of Filipinos did not get any better. No meaningful reforms and progress done by Cory and the last Aquino in presidency.
Why single out Aquino mother and son? There have been other "post Edsa revolt" presidents: FVR, Erap Estrada, GMA, and PRRD. What about them? I am not including the incumbent because his term has just started.
@@mrrd4444 The oligarchy was tight and under control under Marcos. The government owns and control most of the basic needs of people- from agriculture, water, electricity, airlines, banking, etc. Cory enriched the Oligarchs sold and relinquished total controls of the big govt. corporations. Honestly, I am no expert in politics and surely not taking sides. I was a toddler back then when this memorable and amazing thing happens The only thing I can recall was the word "TORA TORA" being mentioned repeatedly in the airwaves from the "transistor" in our house at that time I believe PTV 4 also is airing at that time during a certain siege in CAMELOT HOTEL somewhere in QC But seeing this again. knowing now the other side of things that were unclear to me since then made me feel proud and disappointed at the same time I'm truly glad I got the chance to live through the time when people surely got united and won a revolution without shedding blood and being violent Where the soldiers understand and felt it within that not all orders need to be followed Not all wars can be won by a firefight That sometimes peace can be obtained just by listening to your heart and being calm I wonder if that passion still lingers Or is it no longer apt for this generation Or people just simply got used to it Again, I am glad to see and experience this in my lifetime😏😇
It did. How can you say it won the battle when lost the war? It is so fucking complete that it led to the fall of communism, what Ferdinand Marcos tried to destroy. How ironic, it took the defeat of the dictator to defeat the Communists.
I was living in Canoga Park, CA at the time. I visited an American friend in West Hills, he opened the door of his house for me with a grim face saying something really bad was happening in the PI. He showed me the way to his t v room where ABC News was playing the news. It was an historical event. This documented fact cannot be denied nor altered by anyone who wish to get their own narrative out there.

Political preferences aside, can't you just appreciate the fact that we would prefer peace over fighting each other into a civil war. The first contact with the Marines and APCs were introduced with prayers and chants instead of retaliating with molotovs which further de-escalated the mood. Appreciate the fact that we did not end up like the civil war in Myanmar right now.
That would definitely happen if Marcos doesn't have his guts to still live even after the whole nation slapped his goddamn face after his family molested the found of the Filipino nation for 21 years of their horrible dictatorship.

What delighted me most at that time was the civil disobedience that the pro Aquino movement(together with the big business people that PRRD calls the oligarch) sabotaged the economy by boycotting businesses that were identified to be Marcos cronies. This hasten the Marcos regime to its knees after capitalizing the murder of Ninoy. Very true, corruptions always accompanies infra projects even before Marcos time. We only got to notice it because of the enormous & numerous projects Marcos made in his 20yr rule.
