I also had tickets to see Poppy, Gojira, and Deftones. As someone who has struggled with eating disorders since 2003, this song hits home.

I never wanted to jump to conclusions because yk that never goes well but she did seem to look kinda sick as the years went by. My theory was maybe feeling as it was her coping mechanism whilst working with a controling man (titanic). Or simply the pressures of becoming famous who knows but i would rly love to hear her story. Im so glad she finally gets to be herself. As someone who also struggles with eds its really amazing to see her finally be able to express those emotions.

Hey guys thanks for the reaction. This is a serious song about Poppy's eating disorder. Her next album is going to be her most personal yet, so there will certainly be a darker vibe in some of the material. Hard to believe she started out as a country /folk artist before becoming the Poppy character.

@@lasernikixcex I would say more bubble gum pop. Being a rock musician, myself, for 40 yrs, I have never seen a musician go through such an extreme transformation as "Poppy". She has become quite impressive musically.

@@keihan5 The Bubble Gum period was later when she signed to Island. She has been around making music since 2012. Country/Folk, Indie, Alt.Rock/Pop, then she got her first of 3 record deals and has just kept evolving. If you are talking Poppy.Computer I wouldn't even call it Bubble Gum, because that implies it's throw away.... So I go with Art Pop.

She is genre bending and I love it. There are industrial rock (nu-metal), punk and death metal vibes to this song. She has become a force in rock to be reckoned with. Very impressive.

She's also engaged to ghostemane, a popular metalhead / rapper. He also does crazy trap/rap/metal/goth/industrial combinations and he screams a lot so he probably taught her to scream!

I've followed her 3 years now. Crazy stuff behind the scenes but her music is unique like her voice. Check her singing with the band HEALTH, called Dead flowers. She's great live btw 💯🔥🤘

'Anything Like Me' directly points to Mars Argo in my opinion. 'you're coming at me with blood on your teeth?!' Poppy and Mars Argo are both characters that were partially created by Titanic Sinclair. But I believe that Mariah (Poppy) had a lot more to add to the idea than Titanic's first 'creative partner' had. Blood spilling from her mouth, being created BY the pop industry as a clone to perform music, becoming self aware, becoming human, struggling with gender identity, and so on. The Poppy Character had more depth, and more creativity. in other words; 'Anything Like Me' might as well have been called 'hoes mad'

Never bothered with Mars Argo, I respect she was the prototype....But what Poppy haters don't seem to understand is if Moriah didn't have the talent she would not of been able to take the character as far as she has, so imo you are totally right Writing Alias .

Contrary to popular believe, Ghostemane actually didn't have anything to do with writing this....It was Poppy and Chris Greatti, who have been writing together since the Bubblebath days. I think Chris played a big part in her getting heavier., as he is a pretty talented guitarist in his own right.. If anything Poppy has been influencing Ghostemane, as she directed his last 2 videos.

@@jessiehoolahoopsmcgee Yeah it's written by the 2 of them according to Poppypedia.. I read a recent interview somewhere and she said she wrote most of the new album with her current band, so maybe it was a left over idea from I Disagree?.... Obviously It would be nice if they are working together again though.

I discovered her about a year and a half ago. Most of her music isn't this heavy. She is very unique and talented.... Not for me, but was interesting enough to give a bunch of her songs a listen. Just basically preparing you not to expect a lot of this if you choose to explore her more. Also not trying to put her down. She's talented, just not what I want to listen to.

My thumb up is for the two of you :) The sing is a little too Lacey Storm/Fly leaf for my taste (but that's just me). When she finds more of het own thing, I might get into het more. BTW, if I want to submit a review suggestion, how do I get it to you? I can't do Patreon.

If you didn't yet, check X, Scary Mask, Concrete, etc... from their latest works... it's great. She's created her own style of metal/pop/whatever and it's awesome...
