I went to high school with a girl that was on this show. She filed a lawsuit against them. Apparently the contestants were completely lied to about what this show was going to be about. Supposedly they were told it was just a modeling competition. I believe she wound up winning a settlement out of court. They never actually aired her scenes because she file the lawsuit when she was notified that show was actually going to air.
@zvezdoblyat it would be a civil issue, not a criminal one. I would be curious to see what contract they signed. If they settled, it doesn't mean they admitted fault. You can settle a case and still deny culpability. They may have just thought it was cheaper to settle than take it to court.
@@Karamarikayes mostly all civil. However that being said I actually believe they had broke the law in certain states because of contracts being signed. Certain types of contracts have to be notarized and certain states you actually have to be 19 to sign that type of contract…not 18 like some states. And yes in my friends’s case they settled…not familiar what happened with them being charged.
@@twinglock40z it's not illegal to enter a contract with someone underage. It just voids the contract. This is all civil unless they assaulted someone or did something else that would be criminal. Lying is generally allowed.
As much as hate this concept...i got into judging.....and the conclusion was that each and every contestant was physically more attractive than any of the judges.
These people KNOW they’re hot, that’s the only reason they’re on this show. There’s no way you can be insecure and be okay with people calling you “ugly” and “fat” lol
I think I'm a little older than the average viewer here. I remember Rachel Hunter. She was hot, and Lorenzo Lamas was bad ass. They were a little past their prime here though. No idea who that third guy was.
I remeber this show. Cody didn't even show her the worst part. The judge on the left had a laser pointer that he called the "flaw finder" and he'd literally just go point by point on people's bodys highlighting like moles and shit.
1. Two thirds of Randolph's face are taken up by forehead 2. Rachel is wearing a skinned Yorkie as a wig 3. If Lorenzo's eyes were any closer together he would be a cyclops
The first lady was super hot. She doesn't need to firm up, she looks healthy and good. 00s beauty standards were ridiculous. Everyone had to be skinny, but if you were too skinny, it was also a problem. Like nothing was actually perfect. It reminds me of kpop beauty standards. I'm glad I was born in the 00s and didn't have to grow up with subliminal messages to lose weight. But still, I got a ED from my own insecurities and basically the early 10s era of Tumblr and Pinterest didn't make it easier.
It's especially weird that it just seems like it was only 10-20 year period in history where women were expected to be rail thin. Before then women in magazines looked the same as they do now (minus the gross obese fat activist stuff)
Eating disorders will happen no matter what beauty standard society has. I went out of my way to try to prevent my daughter from feeling insecure about her weight. She still ended up anorexic in her teen years like I was. A big part of it is genetic, not environmental.
@@hhiippiittyyit was everywhere in the 00s most people’s attention was on television hence why there’s so many shows like this one. Then you have magazines and adverts that were all about being skinny. Then you have pop culture. Movies like mean girls obsessed about being skinny.
@@ani1451 she's acting like she has a moral high ground on the judge for making fun of the contestants appearance by just making fun of the judges appearance
@@SluttyHydra she’s not acting superior though. the judge really has the audacity to judge these people when she’s looking a mess herself. did you not see her hair?
I'm convinced Lorenzo agreed to be on this show to try to repair the damage done by the other judges but couldn't go too high for fear of being found out.
I love how they called the judges "experts" as if deciding if someone is hot it's not totally subjective. Of course there's beauty standards and all but calling them experts when it comes to attraction is ridiculous.
You know what really dates this show? The fact that they criticized people for having big butts and being too thick. Like, what a wild turn around in beauty standards that was.
the beauty standards for women are constantly changing it’s impossible to keep up. in the early 2000’s the boyish look was very much in, now however the beauty standard of being thin with a fat ass is almost unachievable without plastic surgery.
@@sherissapinnock8941 White culture has a tendency to take elements of poc bodies and cultures and commodify them and make them into trends while simultaneously showing 0 respect for pocs and ignoring their issues.
No wonder why the "heroin chic" body from the early 2000s gave so many young women ED and body dysmorphia. The saddest part is that fashion WANTS TO BRING THE HEROIN CHIC BODY BACK. We live in a deeply sick world.
@@bussin234 or maybe they just have different tastes than the judges. there's no standard template for beauty, that's why this show was never successful in the first place.
I've met women that I wasn't super physically attracted to that were sexy. The way a woman carries herself, talks and the look in her eye can be really magnetic. Not a lot of women have it but the women that do exude confidence and are really attractive in their own way. That's how someone could reasonably say they aren't necessarily attracted to someone but they're still sexy. It's almost like an energy they give off.
Thank you for explaining it like that. I was told by a hot guy at dinner a week ago I was "sexy". I had no make up on, my hair was a mess, I had been on a plane all day.. My friend said that it is my smile and energy.. Thank you.
@@blubberingbuffoons I don't know what you mean a war within myself. Some people are confident and carry themselves in a way that's attractive but aren't quite physically attractive. I feel like that's a phenomenon everyone has experienced.
Yes because our species didn’t pioneer the entire planet, create a social structure to govern a population of people, refine emotions to the art of theater and music and create the internet. Maybe now our species can do great things.
can't imagine how insecure this shows must have made not only the contestans, but also the viewers... imagine seeing people with slim bodies and perfect faces getting called ugly and requested to get work done on them 💀
Yes, I was in my early teens when this was on tv, and the culture at the time was way more accepting of this kind of thing. It did real, long term psychological harm
This video just proves how much different it is today. People complaining about beauty standards should really flash back to this time period and reflect. 14:50 he said it perfectly, "did we just not give a fuck about feelings in 2003?" NO, no we didn't and a lot of us got bullied relentlessly.
I'm just watching this reaction video now and am heartened and grateful by both of your reactions of shock and disbelief at a show that catered to my generation. May your generation be kinder, smarter and more loving than ours was at times. You two give me hope for the future and it's healing to register your reactions of 'that's not ok'!
@@craigbaker593 is this a man thing? i'm not even tryna come for you but i truly don't see what's so attractive about the model... especially when she has that attitude
There’s a game show called “Baggage” that I think y’all would find funny. It’s a dating show where contestants progressively reveal worse and worse baggage
Honestly I think this show would be the best if they just continuously had someone walk on, buzzer goes off in 3 seconds, walks off, repeat for the whole 20 minute episode with no interruptions. No one says anything except for the announcer saying the name and occupation.
You can tell the supermodel is just so butt hurt about being ripped apart by modelling agencies for so long that she’s just excited to have the power to tell other girls that they are ugly. It’s pretty brutal to watch. Edit: Wow, 10k. Thanks guys!
Yep and she ended up married to Rod Stewart at 21 and had two of his kids by 23, essentially “wasting” her prime modeling years on a man she’d later divorce anyway.
Maybe those who ran the show had a little 'chat' with Lorenzo after the first episode when he kept complimenting everyone and told him, 'Either start throwing punches or we let you go'. That's why I never judge someone by the way they are portrayed on TV. It's all fake, organised to provoke a certain reaction. The stronger the reaction the better it is for the views.
@@Aro7241 she embraced a part of herself that society told her was unattractive AND stood up for herself on live tv. what’s cringey is the fact that these “judges” act like they have the right to judge despite being the ugliest people in the room.
@@peewee139 not what she said bruh. It's the way she said it that makes you cringe. She wouldn't be defended this hard, if the judges weren't worse people😂
Cody HAS to react to Superstar USA next, where they convinced people they were amazing singers and tried to find the worst singer in America. Only to reveal it on the finale.
When creepy Dave told the gorgeous woman she had 'too much jiggle' I travelled back through time to my teenage years and remembered how every celebrity in the early 2000s had an eating disorder. Anyway... I'm sure that's not relevant at all to this.
Alot of people who have "eating disorders" just dont have self control but some have a real disease thats serious and being watered down with these fakers
@@sipsimies1588 Anorexia actually comes from having too much control over one’s eating- like micromanaging every calorie for every second of the day despite being hungry
When i was growing up heavy i got side eyes and my friends asking "why do you always eat sugary stuff...?" (I always ate a pb&j while they ate lettuce and broccoli) and my family stopped physically interacting with me as much. Now im older and all i hear is "youre skin and bones" "you look like chop sticks" "do you even eat/you need to eat something" No matter what size you are people are gonna judge you and soma ahole is gonna have smth to say so dont ever take that shit personally because it doesnt mean anything and they either were never judged like that or have no room to talk💀
Some people really do romanticize the 2000s when in reality that was THE WORST decade when it comes to the insane sexism, homophobia and racism in media. There was no filter for anyone anywhere.
The 2000's were horrible for teenage girls, really hit your self-confidence over the head with a brick. Can't believe I started to get catcalled at age 12 and it was deemed 'funny' and no big deal. Especially going to a Christian school where slimy old teachers constantly made creepy remarks... TO KIDS.
how does that change anything? They can have a personal opinion of what is attractive or not and not be attractive. Ugly people have eyes too. Only good looking poeple are allowed to talk trash about other people looks?

Butter’s dress has more cloth than other women Lorenzo preferred, yet he still immediately thought Butter was a stripper and scantily clad. Makes u wonder....
Yeah they're all definitely racist, it's the early 2000s you could tell lmao. Also the sheer audacity of their comments kinda tells you they probably don't think very highly of other races either lol.

18:47, this guy wasn't bad looking, the eyes looked cute on him, I liked his face and the shirt I would say that it looked good on him. I would have called him hot, it really made me feel bad that they called him not hot because he really isn't, a lot of the people they called not hot were really attractive.
The Lorrenzo lore was a rollercoaster, first they hated him, then they liked him and then they completely despised him. What a crazy turn of events LUL.
I’m sorry but all those contestants are absolutely attractive. I don’t know their personalities but judging just from looks alone, like they did, they are all above average.
Man, you are so right. Ever since I've learned about skin bleaching and hair straightening and stuff it's really blown my mind how much our societal beauty standards are based on whiteness
Not to sound over dramatic but this show reminded me of learning about slave auctions and how people would peel back other peoples lips to make sure they had good teeth
It really doesn't matter.... race has been turned into some huge thing when it's really nothing important.... the clowns running this country are trying to make it seem like there's racism all over the place and its just not true! We have much bigger problems than that nonsense
In case you were wondering where Lorenzo is now, he’s a middle aged helicopter pilot in Van Nuys CA. Years ago when I was still a teenager we booked a helicopter tour over LA and he ended up being out families pilot, lol.
Anyone remember back in the day, Howard Stern did the same thing and he was called a sexist pig and all kinds of other names, for doing the exact same thing as this show. Pepperidge farm remembers
@@liammiller7280 I think he made that assumption because her name is "Butter." If her name was like, Diane, or something, maybe he wouldn't have said that? Who knows, this show is insanely awful.

I feel like it's the opposite. He's actually a nice person, but the production team wanted him to be more controversial /Simon Cowell for ratings. So he amped up a character to keep his job.

netflix has a show called “my hotter half” that is basically asking people which person in a couple is hotter, then making over the one that lost, then asking people again and seeing if they were able to become hotter. super weird concept.
