"CLAYTON COUNTY - Police are now investigating after a lawsuit alleging a baby was decapitated during delivery on July 9 was filed in Clayton County against Southern Regional Medical Center and others.
According to the complaint, 20-year-old Jessica Ross's water broke at 10 a.m. July 9 and she went to the emergency department at Prime Healthcare Service, Inc. d/b/a Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale.
At approximately 8:40 p.m., Ross was fully dilated and instructed to begin pushing. The complaint says the baby stopped descending due to shoulder dystocia while being delivered vaginally and Dr. Tracey St. Julian, M.D., reportedly attempted to deliver the baby vaginally using different methods, including applying traction to the baby's head.

The worse part of all of this is that the doctor and staff didn’t even tell the family the baby was decapitated . The funeral home had to tell the family. Everyone should have their license taken away from them. How can you live with yourself for doing this.

The most disgusting thing about this is the fact that instead of accepting responsibilty for this horrible mistake, they propped the baby's head on his body and tried to hide it. The doctor was looking at a serius malpractice issue, but now she should face murder charges. This was unneccary. Why did it take 10 hours in labor before the decision to do the C-setion? Makes no sense.

I delivered my dead son last year so I know how traumatic it is to lose your child and know this couple will never recover from this as nor will I but to have your child delivered in this manner it’s horrendous. this malpractice is out of this world and hope they get some form of justice here even though knowing it won’t help the loss of your child any.

Lost a stillborn daughter in the 8th month, back in 1983 when I was in the Army. It still breaks my heart to this day when I remember it. The pain never left. It's become part of me. And I'm the dad. The now ex-wife was drugged and unconscious in a private room. I heard the gush, saw my baby girl. clipped the cord, cut it between the clips, wrapped her up, and was holding her when they walked into the room. They were surprised, but said they'd give me some time with her. I guess my mind couldn't accept her being gone. When they came back, I couldn't hand her over. It seemed like that would be accepting something unacceptable. Some big dudes came in and someone gave me a shot. I woke up in the psych ward. Talking to her and feeling her kick seemed like a bond we had. I had only found out that morning that she was gone, and we were sent to Walter Reed for the induction, which happened that afternoon. It was too fast. That experience was worse than any of the traumatic experiences I had in the Army. When I saw this story about the decapitation, I broke down. Then I was OK until I saw yours. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know words can't change anything, and money can't help. But we're not alone, and that is some comfort, however small.

Thank you for covering this story it’s very important. The coverup the hospital and the doctor undertook to hide the fact they ripped this babies’ head off by propping it up and not letting the parents hold the baby and trying to bully them in to Cremating their baby so the evidence would be destroyed. People aren't aware of just how little oversight there is when it comes to doctors. I worked as a paramedic for 18 years and I could tell a lot of horror stories about shit doctors get away with. Covering up for them is super common. What these poor people were subjected to is horrifying and I hope they at least get some justice, although there's no adequate compensation for that kind of loss 😢.

I worked in a lab, and we did a lot of typing and cross-matching for patients of one surgeon. His patients tended to bleed to death. I was a bit angry about it one day and asked our pathologist why nobody reported the incompetence. He just looked at me for a while and said to get back to work.

I know that sometimes disasters happen during delivery of a baby, and mothers and/or infants die. But I have never heard of an infant being decapitated during birth. This is awful.

I've never heard of something so horrid occurring during a delivery. I'd have lost my mind and gone on a rampage against that doctor, her colleagues, and that hospital. And if that situation wasn't horrible enough, the doctor responsible is getting a lot of public support from other medical professionals. Whats more disgusting is that had it not been discovered and puzzled together by the funeral home of this horrendous tragedy of medical negligence...the hospital would have gotten away and sent this couple and insurance a bill for service. Whoever complained about why this story getting so much feed, well malpractice and gross malpractice happen daily and we consumers, insurances are the ones paying while the medical system cover it up. This was gross malpractice and for the hospital....to take advantage because the couple is young and Black...is disgusting . From the nurses, the doctor, the hospital to the person who propped the babys head up ...they all need to be sued, jailed and fired. This hospital should be held accountable and set as an example for all other negligent medical facilities.

*Bunch of red flags... doctor made lots of mistakes.* - Sounds like *"shoulder dystocia" (babys shoulder is wedged against the pelvic bone of the mother, in that case there is noooooooo way for a natural birth).* - *In a 45-45 situation: Whenever a woman is shorter than 4`5 and the calculated baby weight is over 4lbs 5oz, and the birth is taking longer than 2 hour we usually recommend c-section,* because of pelvic mismatch. baby is too big to pass through birth canal naturally, mom and baby are completely exhausted, and there is a danger of skull & spine fracture, nerve damage to the baby and dangerous levels of umblical cord compression. - The atmosphere in that operating room must have been chilling. *Absolute horror... complete shock... terrified silence... of the doctor and the nurses.* - and then of course *slightly criminal cover-up attempts.* Putting a dead baby in an incubator is insane, and propping up the decapitated head in a blanket is just criminal.

My thing is she should have been a high risk pregnancy with her issues plus she diabetes was that the ob that she had her whole pregnancy cuz if so the doctor would have known her issues and did a c section quickly or did they just go to emergency room to give birth like many ppl do without insurance sad it happened though it’s impossible to have insurance for these reasons

This really made my stomach sick. Just unbelievable. And to imagine the suffering this baby had to deal with is unimaginable. Like there are no words. The thoughts the parents must have knowing what really happened is horrific . The whole way they treated this family. The funeral home having to report a death that the hospital should have, shows how much they were covering up. Not just the doctor, but the entire hospital. Get them all! This doctor should never be able to practice medicine again. She literally killed a baby with her bare hands. Then to top it off, let them see their baby with the head propped up! You're a demon for that. This is a lifetime of trauma. They'll never be able to get those images out of their head. I'm so sorry. Praying for you all.
