Daily Bread
1) Courage is based on faith.
David was young and inexperienced, yet he faced Goliath with amazing courage. Unlike the seasoned warriors of Israel, David wasn’t driven by fear, but by faith in God. He didn’t see Goliath as an unbeatable giant. Rather, he saw him as a challenge he could overcome with God's help. True courage comes from trusting in God’s power instead of our own. You might face challenges in life that seem as intimidating as Goliath. These could be personal goals you’ve been struggling to achieve or intense problems you’ve been trying to overcome. Like David, you can face these challenges when you place your faith in God. Remember how God has helped you in the past, and trust that He will help you again.
2) Using your unique skills.
David refused King Saul’s armor. Instead, he chose his own shepherding tools -a sling and stones. David knew his strengths and chose to fight Goliath in a way that utilized his own skills effectively. In our lives, we shouldn’t compare ourselves or conform to what everyone else is doing. Instead, embrace your unique talents and strengths. Whether it’s tackling a project in a unique way or solving problems with innovative ideas, use the skills and talents God has given you to overcome the challenges you face. God is with you and gives you the resources you need to conquer the Goliaths in your life.
Prayer: Father, help me to learn courageous faith and to use the unique abilities You have given me when I face the giants in my life. I trust that You are with me and will equip me with everything I need to overcome. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
