Beautiful playing, but this piece is originally composed by J-B Loeillet not J-B Lully.

This music is by Jean-Baptiste Loeillet of London, from his first lesson for the harpsichord. This courante never wrote Lully, a franch composer.

Very well played ! I hated to be a buzzkill but this piece is not from J-B Lully. Its original composer is J-B Loeillet and this is the 3rd dance of his "Lesson of Harpsichord n°1" ! It is a common mistake and too few people know that. Look it up

I'm just going by what was given in "Anthology of French Keyboard Music".

@@BachScholar I know, but that's misattribution. Further studies revealed that this suite was composed by John Loeillet of London. imslp.org/wiki/Lessons_for_the_Harpsichord_or_Spinet_(Loeillet,_John)

It doesn't matter who composed this. Putting "Lully" in the title will get more views, and, most performances of it have Lully in the title. Nobody knows or cares about "John Loeillet". It's the same with the "Bach" Minuet in G that is now thought to be by "Petzold". Nobody knows or cars about "Petzold". That G major Minuet will always be thought of as being by Bach by most people even though scholars get mad when we attribute it to Bach.

@@BachScholar Then who cares if someone hacks your YT channel, changes the name and puts his profil picture instead of yours. It will get views and people will continue to learn, right ? It doesn't really matter if you took a large amount of time to create all this content. Let's change history and pretend that you never existed at all. Matter of fact, this very courante introduced me to John Loeillet. It motivated me to do some research and find out about who he was. I listened to the rest of the suite and then, other of his compositions (ex. His flute sonatas are really great). If you don't see where the problem is, then I can't do anything for you. Get more views and be happy with it. You're either accurate or you're not. Regards,

You are attacking "me" rather than my "idea". Also, Lully and Loeillet are long dead and it doesn't really matter what we call or do with their music. One cannot have hurt feelings or be sued by the other. Most people will continue to call the G major Minuet "the Bach Minuet". It will be a very long time, perhaps never, that most people will ever know who "Petzold" is. This is not demeaning his skill as a composer, but it is just a reality. Famous performers still perform these pieces by "Lully" and they are still published as pieces by "Lully". This is just the way it is. Your last comment is very snarky and you act as if I have hurt "your" feelings with an issue that doesn't even pertain to "you". You act as if you are Loeillet and I am attacking you.

Hate to nitpick, but Lully was born about 53 years before J.S. Bach (not 150 yrs prior). Dope playing tho. 🤘

No one said it to be one hundred and fifty years prior to Bach.
