@@selinaliu1106 Yes Economics is a requirement course for Rotman students and Economics students, however other students can also take economics as their electives! So it wouldn't be a requirement course for those students

I got a 64 in Ho's class years ago, which is a C which was the class average. I'm technically halfway through an economics minor as I also took mat133 but I've long decided to not continue that. My parents made me take those and it was torture!

Hey Richard, great video! Are you able to choose profs? Which prof did you have for eco101? Who would you recommend, easier?
@RichardHan
@RichardHan 4 года назад
Great question! So yes you can choose your professors for all your classes but classes with good professors tend to fill up quickly. Also some professors are restricted to students that are in certain programs and professors can change the way they teach drastically every year. Which is what happened for me, my professor was known to be less challenging compared to other professors but his class turned out to be the toughest this year. I purposefully didn’t mention any names because in the end it really depends on how the professors want to teach the course in that year. Since the content is pretty hard for eco 101 no matter who you get it will be pretty challenging 😭. I hope I was able to answer your question and if you have any further questions please let me know. I wish the best of luck to you in the future 👍👍

Freshman killer: MAT137/MAT157: The first course I felt despair, getting really crazy on the 137. 157 is only for math genius. ECO101 (Gazzale class): I AM BACK, YOU SHALL NOT PASS LIN100(disputable, online): Became extremely horrible when it is online. CSC148/CSC165: Even for the programming background students, it is a challenge. Also a lot of pros suffered from it(Most of them select MAT137 to enter the program)

Hey Richard! I’ll be joining U of T this fall hoping to study art history and german and your videos have helped me a lot. Was wondering, is it possible to talk to the college registrar for advice on first year course selection before the term starts? Also, do you know of anyone who has been able to graduate in three years or less? Any advice on if it’s doable considering I have three transfer credits already from hs and will choose to take a maximum course load each semester?
@RichardHan
@RichardHan 4 года назад
Great question, so I know there are academic advisers (They are the ones who can help you with all the academic problems) at UofT but I am not too sure if you can contact them through your college registrar. However I suggest that you still contact the registrar because they will know who you can talk to for you to reach the academic advisers. I heard of some people graduating early with transfer credits, but to find out how to use your transfer credits well I suggest that you watch my other video "Interviewing the smartest guy at the University of Toronto" (Part #1). I hope I was able to answer your questions and if you have any further questions please let me know. I wish the best of luck to you in the future!

Does rotman commerce set up all the time tables for freshman?? I’ve heard that they have their own requirement courses
@RichardHan
@RichardHan 4 года назад
This is a very good question, so yes Rotman commerce has this program called "First year learning community" and its basically like a club/group in Rotman commerce that groups 20ish students together into one time table. You are also require to attend bi-weekly meetings they hold and they give you tips about Rotman commerce (they also give you snacks). By all means this is not mandatory, and some people really like this program and some people don't. I personally was part of First year learning community and I think the overall experience was positive. For your second question, yes we do have our own requirement courses. MAT 133, ECO 101, ECO 102 and RSM 100 are all required courses and you need to get a minimum of 63% in these courses to get into second year (There are more information about this on Rotman commerce website). Not only we have required courses we also have recommended courses. RSM 230, RSM 250 and RSM 219, these are not required but most students take it anyways in their first year. I hope I was able to answer your question and if you have any further questions please let me know! I wish the best of luck to you in the future!

How can I know whether or not a course is a seminar course( ik this is a dumb question) I’m assuming it says next to the course name that it is?? Also are we required to finish breadth requirements in the first year, what do you recommend for breadth reqs?
@RichardHan
@RichardHan 4 года назад
Great question (its not dumb at all, I had the exact same question before), so all the seminar courses should be under the category of seminar courses in the academic calendar. If you are unfamiliar with the academic calendar/selecting courses I would highly recommend you to watch my other video "HOW TO CHOOSE COURSES & ELECTIVES | CHOOSING THE RIGHT COURSES AT UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO | U OF T" ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-77NO-4-cLp4.html ). For breadth requirement recommendations, it really depends on the program you are in but I enjoyed psychology (some people find it very challenging so only take psychology if you like it👍👍). I hope I was able to answer your questions and if you have any further questions please let me know. I wish the best of luck to you in the future!

Hi, I have a question. I am currently a grade 10 student with an average of 91%. I want to go to Rotman Commerce program for business courses but I found there were so many courses specifically in business. What course would be most effective to take? Also, how can I know the required courses to take marketing in the U of T Rotman Commerce program?

Great question, so there are certain number of credits you need in order to get a major/minor in a program. You need to take the appropriate courses they require in the programs you want to major in as well (I am pretty sure you need 8.0 credits to get a major). So I am not too sure if the programs you want to major in will accept the bird courses I talked about but if they do you are good to go. For more information I suggest that you contact the registrar. I hope I was able to answer your questions and if you have any further questions please let me know. I wish the best of luck to you in the future!

Hey, I’m a third year in Life Sci (Neuroscience Specialist and a Physiology Major, maybe a Cell and Mol Bio Major or switching to the Physiology Minor...or neither bc I don’t need that much). To graduate, you need twelve distinct credits toward a Program of Study (PoST). This is usually done with 1 Specialist, 2 Majors, or 1 Major and 2 Minors. You can enroll in up to 3 programs at once. Some programs give you priority in enrolment in certain courses-you might get to enrol first before non-program people can or only people in the program are allowed to enrol. Some Programs are limited. A Type 1 is open to everyone (and can still give priority enrolment), you can place yourself in the program whenever you want. A Type 2 is Limited, which can mean you need to meet a certain minimum mark in some courses or that only a limited number of people are accepted every year/round of applications, and that’s based on their marks in particular courses. A Type 3 is also limited and includes a special application. A lot of related programs overlap, making it easier to do them all. Some overlap too much. You can’t double major in human biology programs because of the overlap, but you can specialist-major in them. I can’t do a major in neuroscience plus minors in immunology physiology because they only make 11 distinct credits. I’d check the recent requirements for Psych. It’s very much it’s own department, especially after first year, and is heavily associated with our psych grad school (and if grad school is your goal, there’s a Research Specialist psych program).

Hey thank you for the video. When exactly does one start selecting courses and making their timetable ?
@RichardHan
@RichardHan 4 года назад
Great question, so students will start making their time table after they get accepted to UofT (obviously). Then you will get your University of Toronto ID (we call it UTORid), and you will get a chance to set your password for your account. After that you will be able to access your Acorn account where you will see how much you will have to pay and what courses to choose. Then you will pay some money and the university will allow you to enroll in courses you want to. However these are all done in summer so you won’t have to stress too much right now. I hope I was able to answer your questions and if you have any further questions please let me know. I wish the best of luck to you in the future!

First of all, to take engineering courses u have to be an engineering student. There are similar courses to that offered in the engineering department on other departments, but they are not equivalent. So assuming you are going to applied to the engineering school and taking into account you are a girl you should get a decent scholarship (5k per year) with a 3.75 cgpa (applying from hs). I know a person that had a 3.85, wrote really good essays and got 15k a year (she’s also an international student). But anything more than that is almost impossible. It is possible to get a full scholarship but your hs must be recognized by UofT. Every year the recognized HS postulate a candidate and this candidate has to do a separate application. It is only for international students, I think they give 55 Pearson Scholarships per year. My best friend who is currently a freshman studying engineering at UofT got it. But that guy is unbelievable, he had a 4.0 cgpa, the best essays, his interview was amazing and his extracurriculars too. Don’t lose hope tho! Just get the grades first and worry about the rest later!
