Synopsis: A sewerage worker's dead body is found inside a manhole in Mumbai. An ageing folk singer is tried in court on charges of abetment of suicide. He is accused of performing an inflammatory song which might have incited the worker to commit the act. As the trial unfolds, the personal lives of the lawyers and the judge involved in the case are observed outside the court.

I've had a great honour of listening to the speech and personally talk to this movie's protagonist, Viru Sathidhar in Hyderabad. I was literally moved to tears when spoke about the inequalities that are still prevalent in today's world and his constant fight for improving the lives of dalits and other minorities. I must say, he is a man of great principles. The whole crew of the movie had done a great job in showcasing the problems and defects in our judiciary. I hope that this movie would bring a positive change in our society

This film is a sheer brilliance. I watched it in Mumbai Film Festival and when it was released. The film was written by Chaitanya Tamhane when he was 23 and it took him three years to make the film. The whole story behind this film is interesting. You should check that one out. The film traveled the world for next two years.Practically a five year journey for a film. The job of a director even though is damn tough, you enjoy your life.

Many are saying they have watched the movie in September 2015, now this not in any theatre, it seems they all have seen pirated copy, if you are proud of Marathi & if you want to save marathi movies start watching it in Cinema theatres, not pirated one

Whether it wins the Oscars or not, movies like this should be respected by us. Hope Indian audience dont keep praying for it to win Oscars thinking it to be the epitome of credibility for Indian cinema! For me, if it wins oscars, it will be just a CV booster for the technical crew which they can then use to take out talent to US. Thats it! Wow, last few years have seen some offbeat great movies from Marathi, Tamil and Kerala cinema. Hats off to directors down there for saving the image of Indian cinema inspite of Bollywood!

I'm feel so sad to admit this but good movies like these I don't know why they don't make it to the audience the way those cheap bolly flicks do.. A true picture of our judiciary, isn't it? A petty criminal rots in jail as he can't get bail.. and actual criminals are not even touched. 125 crore people waste their 125 (at least) man hours in queues to withdraw their own hard earned money and some others spend 500 cr on weddings... wow... that's my India!

This movie is one of the best that ever have been produced in India. There were other movies in Malayalam, Hindi etc. But this one is eminently watchable and the tragi-comedy is superb.

This means Movie Making nothing is unrealistic. They had touched every bit of reality with human emotions. One should watch this movie and taste the acting role play and traveling with the story and admitting the unfair reality of our Society which is binded to carry on wd injustice with mere proofs and bit of manipulations. I worked in RSS for some days and people in RSS openly oppose this film. According to them cast system is made for good and dalits should always clear gutters according Hindu scriptures. I left RSS when I heart such sentiments from one SWAYANSEWAK. Also according to RSS members Mahatma Phule and Savitribai Phule, Ahilyabai Holkar, Shahu Maharaj and Babasaheb Ambedkar are anti social and Anti National...
