Leaning on the lawyer like that could be considered unconstitutional That judge should be fired for even peer pressuring the attorney to go against his clients rights and wishes especially if it was in the clients best interest!!! The judge was upset that the public defender (acting on his clients behalf) refused to waive his right to have a speedy trial. The judge was leaning on the attorney, PEER PRESSURING the attorney to go against the persons RIGHTS because the court and prosecutora office were backed up on cases and needed more time to prepare.

@docd.t.torrance7845 3 года назад
@@fredocricket58 No offense, but I am struggling a bit following what you are saying. So I hope I respond appropriately. I watched the clip and am well aware of what happened. This was a public defender, free to those who can't afford an attorney since US law states legal counsel is your RIGHT even if you can't afford it. This man, the attorney, is doing his job for little money, as a public defender, and the judge is unhappy with the number of cases he is required to preside over as part of HIS JOB. So instead of just doing his job and allowing the public defender to do his job, which is making sure the client/defendant gets his RIGHT to trial the judge is throwing a tantrum. He then proceeds to ask the public defender outside for a literal brawl. The judge is later officially removed from the bench for his actions that broke multiple laws as well as the oath he took to justice. The public defender and judge both work for the people and the judge failed the people here.

@@fredocricket58 At that point the judge doesn't get to decide, nor refuse, anyone's right to trial. He did smile, you could see it when the dad jumped him and when the police officer looked at him. He straightened his face out like "but I didn't even do anything..." He was absolutely smirking at the dad, he was even half smiling when he stood up out of his chair. Put him in a chair with some voltage and see how long that smile lasts. The sad thing is, if the dad had actually landed blows, it would have given the murderer a better chance at a reduced sentence... That's most likely why the perp did it.
