Hi BM. So great to see you back with another Courtney reaction and loved it. To answer a couple of your questions, Courtney's hair is naturally brown. She died it red and kept it that way for a number of months. As you said, she can rock either color, but she is now back to her natural brown. Also, talking about listening to yourself sing. Courtney has said many times that it feels weird to listen to herself sing. There was no real intention for her to play this song on the live. We basically heard this masterpiece by accident. On the chat, a number of people were asking Courtney to sing 'Love Hurts'. It was then that Courtney said she had already recorded it and she went to her laptop to see if she could find it. Lucky for us she did, because the world needed to hear this. When Courtney played it, there was almost stunned silence because we were shocked at the absolutely exquisite performance we were hearing. It was just a spectacular piece of music. There were a bunch of OMGs along with universal requests for Courtney to play the song again, which she did. It's hard to describe how good this is. Remember that this is being broadcast off a file saved on a laptop, transmitted over a cell phone via a live chat and then recorded again on the receiving end by another cell phone and it is this unbelievably beautiful. Can you even imagine what the digital studio version of this sounds like. I'm not sure there would be words to describe it. This performance has been universally proclaimed and many have hoped that Courtney would release this, and it may happen eventually, but her main focus now is on her original music. She did sing one verse of 'Love Hurts' live in one of her recent chats from the studio where she was working on her original music and, talk about the stuff of dreams, it was absolutely incredible beyond belief.
There's a story behind this one. She was on a TikTok live chat when she mentioned this song or someone else did. And a few people kept asking her to find it and play for us. So she said she would see if she could find it on her laptop. Which she did and played for us. The reason for the bad audio is the sound came out of laptop speakers directly in her cellphone. Neither of which is high end quality. I remixed it to enhance the audio here without the video. If you like or anyone else is more than welcome to use this link to listen to it. It's still not studio quality but it is much better. soundcloud.com/bert-painter/courtney-hadwin-love-hurts-2nd-mix/s-5w502xBUr51 The audio track is from the original recording by Miss Li from Sweden who Courtney visited to do some recording and writing early on just after AGT Champions ended on TV. She said she did this thinking they would release it, but then later changed there mind because it was a cover. They wanted her 1st release to be an original. A few months later they had another go at it, but she said it just wasn't as raw as the 1st time. Here's a link to the whole chat compliments of xanndra2's channel. I left the link when she starts talking about this song "Love Hurts". ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qnLiRmx0YNE.html Btw, she did die her hair red for a while.
Hello Bearded This song was recorded in Sweden in early 2019 when she was in Sweden when she was 14 years old. There she did a course in songwriting and would also prepare for her upcoming Album which has been postponed. The song is a Cover by Miss Li a Swedish singer. Who also took care of Courtney during her stay in Sweden. The song you heard has a poor sound quality due to the fact that it is playing from her laptop the sound is picked up by her mobile that she transmits from. We are many fans who tried to get her to release the studio version. But this may be due to copy rights. But anyway, it was good enough.
Thanks, B Mama! As to the audio quality, it's important to note that we have very few professionally recorded videos of Courtney. She had the 4 cover songs on her VEVO channel and Happy Xmas professionally done, but the staging was limited, unlike a live show. AGT and Voice Kids were professional but truncated in scope. Most else is from social media and other more amateur productions, and there is nothing at her current level of maturity. And still we can recognize her vocal and performing superiority. She is hugely popular without ANY full, concert-like professional recording available (to my knowledge) OR original debut album. That is somewhat astounding! One can only imagine how good Courtney will be in a true concert venue onstage singing back-to-back songs!🌟🌟🌟🌟
I'm with you Rick. If you're just a casual observer of Courtney, and don't know much about her, and then listen anything other than her studio version recordings, you may not be one of those who can appreciate her singing unless you can realize the differences between any singer just singing unplugged compared to a studio version. Most all singers will sound high quality recording in the studio. Only a few though sound high quality and amazing. While hearing a really great singer unplugged maybe with just an acoustic will sound so pleasing to the ears. Where many singers even decent or even very good singer will only sound so so to decent. With Courtney's voice the studio quality version of her vocals is so rich with flavor. Even in her own studio. But when she sings at home recording with her cell phone, even though I'm impressed by her, the rich tonal quality she has is limited by lesser recording devices. Yet everything else about her still make most all her videos a great watch. The charisma, passion and stage presence makes up for the lack of sound quality. I know you know I don't mean to say courtney needs a studio. But for those reading this who may think I'm knocking her, that is the furthest thing from what I'm saying. It's just that a studio with 1000+ dollar mics and all the recording gear their is today, it's hard to compare anyone's studio version to home versions with only a cell phone with a built in mic. I'd like to see Courtney recording at home with Neumann mic to enhance her vocals even more. Like AJ uses all the time. Them higher quality mics do make a big difference, especially while singing ballads.
@@bertpainter8385 It should go without saying that the best equipment and engineering will bring out the best in any singer. So if you are the best singer, your professional recording will be the best recording of the best singer ("you" meaning Courtney).
@@rickrhoden1 I knew you get it. lol Believe or not, I've seen comments of people who can't see past a home recording and make judgements based on some of those and have a hard time budging on the initial 1st impressions. Unfortunately, it happens or at least I find those comments more than I'd like to say. Btw. if you haven't watched Courtney's newest TikTok, have a look. www.tiktok.com/@courtneyhadwin/video/6978497988624764165?u_code=5g2k5adec15h4&preview_pb=0&language=en×tamp=1583863146&app=musically&user_id=124937381983510528&tt_from=whatsapp&source=h5_m&is_copy_url=1&is_from_webapp=v1 I may be an opportunity to give her your song suggestion you mentioned the other day. I think you said a dream of yours. She asks to come produce a song with me. She may get more than she expected. I got a lead worked out for it. Bass is next. lol. Luckily for her it's for my own listening enjoyment.
@@bertpainter8385 Thanks; sent my suggestion. Probably too far down now in the comments for her to see. Don't know why I don't always get the "following" notifications for her in a timely fashion; I've set every f*#@ing setting that I know of for that....
I love your comments. Courtney's voice is the real deal. I don't think there is anyone around with such a range and depth to there voice. The best new rock voice for 20 years
Here's the thing if I could sing like her or if you can sing like her I'm sure we would mind listening to ourselves half as much sorry for our luck thanks for the reaction
Nice reaction, BR! Funny you stated you wanted to listen to some "grown-up" Courtney. Funny because she was only about 14 when she recorded this "Love Hurts" rendition. It's amazing to think how much better she'll sound at 20, 25, 30, etc. because she already sounds so great at these younger ages! 🤯 I agree that this Courtney performance is very "Joplinesque". It is, to date, my favorite vocal track laid down by Courtney. Since this song was never released to the public, other than this recording Courtney played for us, this is as good as it gets. The hope is that, eventually, she either releases this version or records a new one and drops it into one of her albums. 🙏 🎵 A couple of years ago, the rock group, The Struts, invited her to sing 2-songs with them at one of their concerts, including this one, Janis Joplin's "Piece of my Heart". I'd love to hear your reaction to this GREAT performance by Courtney - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Dq6XN2jS1sE.html THANK YOU!!!! 🙏
You know, TC, I just have to repeat the observation that Courtney has some elements similar to Janis (rasp, blues, passion), but she brings much more versatility to the table than Joplin did/could (and I love Janis).
@@rickrhoden1 You are preaching to the choir, Rick. If you've read many of my past comments, I've always stated that Courtz is a beautiful cocktail of many of her favorite singers, including Joplin, but she adds her own uniqueness. And, yes, Courtney has more versatility than JJ. Nonetheless, "Love Hurts" is a "Joplinesque" performance. I just didn't want to go into this long-winded explanation each time I mention Courtz and JJ.
@@rickrhoden1 Yup. I have one little voice in my head that says "Courtney might actually be even better," to which another little voice screams out "That's blasphemy!" I love this performance by Courtney, but it was her cover of "Uh-Huh" that just may have ended the controversy for me.
@@TCubillas I know we're in the same choir on that. Sometimes my remarks are more for others reading a thread, or just for re-emphasizing a previous point. 😁
@@BrentOlsen I'm OK with just saying both are different from their peers and still different from each other. I just don't agree with the tired refrain "Janis Joplin reincarnated"! To me, there are as many differences as there are similarities.
This song, since its little known in the US, would have along with Pretty Little thing given Courtney two smash hits at the top of her popularity from being on AGT. Why these were held back is beyond me.
You will not listen to the originalsome reason through copyrights are what have you she is not allowed to turn the original loose sorry for all luck to of the Courtney fans
