Hi Lar, Nice reaction. Great to see you back on another Courtney song. So far you have reacted to two Courtney songs, and both have been upbeat. So you really haven't had the chance yet to see the incredible range Courtney has. Whether it's Rock, R&B, Funk Soul, Ballads or more, Courtney can sing just about anything and there never is any drop off to the incredible quality of her music. You really do need to do one of Courtney's ballads to fully appreciate how truly gorgeous her voice is. In answer to your question, yes Courtney is an independent artist now, for so many reasons. There have been many hurdles for her to get her original music out. First were issues with her label, where they tried to twist her into something she didn't want to be. Another pop princess. Can you imagine that magnificent voice you just heard being limited to pop. Courtney stood her ground. Then Covid hit and shut everything down for over two years. Courtney is British and travel was completely shut down from the UK to the US (where here team was) during that time. Then her label was sold, leading to whole new levels of chaos. As soon as she could, at the beginning of 2023, she walked away from her label and went independent. Since that has happened, she has already dropped five incredible originals. 'Breakable', a gorgeous, gritty ballad, 'That Girl Don't Live Here' (this song), a jazzy uptempo song with a touch of 1940's swing, 'Call Me Back', which will rip your heart out every time you hear it, 'Monsters' (previously reacted to), an incredible rock anthem just voted the 'coolest song of 2023' by 'Little Steven' and the 'Underground Garage Sirius channel (1.2M listeners) and 'Christmas Rocks', which is a fabulous new rocky Christmas tune that will simply demand that you move with it. All of her original new music is on her RU-vid channel and would make for terrific next reactions. This is an absolutely terrific song by Courtney and the lyrics are brilliant. It has such a great vibe that you can't listen to it and not to want to move with it. It's just my opinion, but I think there are a number of messages here. You have to remember that Courtney first rose to world wide fame when she appeared on the 2018 season of America's Got Talent (AGT) when she was just 13. She is 19 now. First, Courtney is singing about, among other things, no longer being that 13 year old girl everyone fell in love with on AGT, and which a core group of fans want her to remain, which of course is impossible. That 13 year old girl is the one that moved out when current grown up Courtney moved in (in this song). Courtney, with her incredible creativity, used that theme to drive the video, in such a unique way. Past/young Courtney sees new/current Courtney in the video and follows her through the closet/looking glass into a whole new world, in this case Wonderland (from Alice in Wonderland - which you caught). Secondly, I described above all of the label issues that Courtney has had. It's only my interpretation, but at the beginning of the video, when someone comes to the door asking her to sign something and she turns them away, this represents the labels, with whom she is done with. Now that the labels are gone, she released a wave of brilliant original music in 2023 and is scheduled to drop her long delayed debut album of original music in the first half of next year. Lastly, when all the paparazzi come to the door early in the video, and she turns them away, she is saying that to be able to release the kind of music I love is more important than the possible fame, if I have to sell out to get it. There is no other voice in music like Courtney's. 2023 was an amazing year for her and 2024 will be even more so. So buckle up. You're going to be busy and it's going to be a wild ride.

Greetings from Scotland! No, Courtney is independent now. in 2023 after she released 'Breakable', Courtney said "It’s all me for this one completely independent finally doing it MY WAY." THANK GOD she's doing her own thing because her own thing is superb! I expect we will hear as much as she can afford to put out there now - be prepared for some damned good music! 😊😊

She is independent. She was released from Simon Cowell's label. "Breakable" was her first independent song.

Clive Davis has asked Courtney to perform with others at Carnegie Hall April 29 2024 for the 41st birthday Gala of the New York Pops Orchestra honoring Clive Davis. Its a fund raiser for that organization. In any event, many well placed music lovers will know of her soon.

Good to see you back with another Courtney Hadwin reaction so soon! You found her at an exciting time in her career. Monsters was just chosen Coolest Song of the Year 2023 by the listeners of Little Steven's Underground Garage Sirius XM radio channel, which has millions of listeners. Little Steven is Steven Van Zandt of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. When Steven played in England a few years ago with his own band, The Disciples of Soul, he had Courtney sing on stage with them. She was only 15 but he already knew who she was. She'll finally drop her first full album and start touring again soon, both of which have been delayed far too long by roadblocks like Covid and disputes with her former label. 2023 was an exciting year too, with her first five releases as an independent artist, all originals, the first four accompanied by her first four concept videos. And that was just the beginning. You ain't seen nuttin' yet!

Great reaction lar, this young lady can sing anything, Courtney's songs are roughly three minutes long as she doesn't put them long repetitive choruses in that other artists do, Courtney is unique in what she does to her songs and even making cover songs her own, hope you reach your target soon ❤

Actually, what she means by "that girl don't live here" is that she was on AGT when she was 13/14. People are expecting her to be the innocent girl she was, but she's grown. It's not like she has become a rebel or anything like that. She was with Syco Entertainment, but they wanted her to be another generic pop princess. She is now independent, and this is one of her original songs. Her writing partner is Kevin Bowe. And the reason why she seems ticked off is that she was trying to release her original music for the last three years, but the label was holding it back, because they did not want her to be a rock singer. Also, with Covid, gigs being cancelled, she couldn't get herself out there. And that is why she sounds pissed.

@@edwarddevogelear4432 That's great to see. She deserves it. I reckon by 2025 the record label bigwigs who tried to ruin her career will regret it when she is a global sensation (even more than what she is now) as an independent.

Good job on fixing the audio from your PC fan problem. Sounds so much better all around. Like a new setup or mic. Anyway, Ed and Darren gave you a good break down of Courtney's label problems which held her career back from exploding. I'll just add after AGT when Simon signed her along with Arista Records/Sony Music that following summer she was invited to perform on Woodstock's 50th festival back in NY state. Unfortunately the exec for Woodstock made a number of miscues and that festival never happened. Courtney had to be hugely disappointed. I know I was, as I was waiting to buy tickets to that just to see her. She had a few other disappointments further along as Ed and Darren mentioned. Courtney has said a few times she has loads of music recorded during those years, but it seems we may never get to hear it due to her ex label/s have the rights to them I would imagine. Since you really don't know much about Courtney I hope you'll find time to watch the AGT video that literally made her a viral smash overnight with her audition. And I do mean overnight. That video got 30 million views the 1st week. I won't go deeper into her past. I'd go on forever. If you do follow up with reacting to Courtney. As a fan I try to promote her new music now that she has been finally able to release. 2024 looks to be a huge year for Courtney as she finishes up her album of originals. (Btw, she did release a mini EP of 4 cover songs which are really great in 2019 that was intended to let people see what else she excelled at, because her AGT stint was all rock. And I will say, Courtney to me is the best stage performer I've seen in a long time.) Her other 3 originals are so diverse, yet still let you hear why fans recognize her voice immediately. You'll always know when it's Courtney singing when you hear her music. Very distinctive. I looked into your channel and see you too are very diverse in what you've reacted to. I noticed you are a fan of Angelina and Diana. Many people went down the rabbit holes of them 2 along with Courtney back in their younger days. One thing I've noticed online about those kids is that fans respect them all and rarely try to put one against another. That to me shows the respect they receive. I think you might find yourself showing a liking to Courtney if you continue to look into her. You've barely touched all she is about. Also, she's a very humble and has a fun personality. Not as shy as she once was on AGT. Although when the music started that day at her audition, the girl just went off and shock everyone.

This is her second video as an independent artist. The song is supposed to be a cloaked comment regarding her relationship with her producer and her. She went from a closed almost servant relationship to her saying what is going to happen.

The person that pissed get off was the music industry, hence the reason she’s independent now. And she’s singing about not being that 13 year old kid from AGT anymore. And the younger generations don’t have a long enough attention span for 7 minute songs 😂
