Prayers go to Tangatur, he was definitely one of the pillars of UCI on defense and serve receive. Props to Kniffin for making it work w/o him and going to 5 with one of the best teams in the nation!
I watched this match live yesterday. The fact that UCI’s coach put an untested 6’1” freshman #14 in for over 2 sets as OH instead of an experienced 6’10” right side was unbelievable. #14 stuck out like a sore thumb. UCI had a chance.
yeah i also wondered why he didn’t put flexen back at oh and Darcy in as Oppo - I understand that they still won the first set with that but after losing the 2nd they really should’ve changed
@@lucaslam3482 did you see how bad LBSU beat uci in the big west? They’ve beat them once. Long Beach dominated the other two times they played them. Your opinion doesn’t matter when the facts are LBSU was the better team this season.
Wow, what an intense game! Felt like the national championship! UCI gonna be a force to be reckoned with in the tournament. Hats off to both teams! UCLA showed again why they are the defending champs! Helluva match!
Wow this was a close one. You could see UCLA was really struggling with the service pressure from Irvine. In the end UCLA managed to convert a lot of those OOS balls anyway and Irvine was really struggling with the UCLA block. Really curious how the final is gonna play out.
For the past two years, UCLA and UCI has been my favorite 2 teams seeing on the court, you can't help but appreciate what each team's ensemble of players has to offer, UCLA has one of the most creative setters (Rowan - whom i've been following since his Balboa Bay 16s state volleyball days), and UCI's three tall players, one of them being a left hander, is just insane.
Last few years feels like I’ve been watching video game creations. Just feels like Cooper Robinson couple almost hit a 2 ball like a 1…jumping from the back row.
I only watch when I can on RU-vid, but I had noticed Ido David hadn't been playing as much. Does anyone know why? Glad to see him getting time again here.
^ what Alex said. Libero can overhand pass as long as the next ball isn't an attack hit that's entirely higher than the top of the net. You most often see it called when a libero overhand passes and the setter tries to dump/tip right after
I know they started Tangutur because they wanted to shore up passing, but I'm still not entirely sure why Kniffin didn't put him in in Set 2 and shift Flexen to the outside. I think Kiriakou was supposed to be a passing sub (he only got set like once a set because Shewie had 0 other options), but theybwould have been better off using the proven D'Arcy over the freshman who hadn't seen much court at all.
