Shayley bourget and Raul Martinez first project Covette. Shot in 2007 was unreleased. RIP Covette 2005-2008 Yeah we know we look like morons, hey we were kids. Laugh it up.
I didn't think they looked like morons... they sound fucking amazing. I really liked the lyrics. I don't understand people with their natural abilities to write so well like this. Bonus points because they were only teens. In fact, I think I liked his vocals more here. I don't know how to describe this. This is just flawless.
Someone below mentioned it and it needs to be repeated, this is an absolute BANGER and honestly deserves a Spotify release if possible. I come back to this song periodically and from 2022, yeah it still slaps.
Love this song! It’s still a classic. Remind me of being in college back in 2011 even though the song is around 10 years old at this point. Wish their older stuff was on Apple Music
@@naughtynick8239 It's almost like Sumerian only signed him because he was in Of Mice & Men, knowing that his fans would follow him (naturally) and potentially setting him up for failure by taking his demos and tuning his vocals higher and "correcting his vocals" (note that this was during his lowest point he was still drinking and stuff and hadn't fully recovered so you'd imagine it wasn't his pique performances that stuff can mess with your voice a lot in unhealthy amounts.) It's not that Shay was bad at singing it's just that Sumerian wanted to make him sound like how they wanted him to sound like (which is all kinds of screwed up.) And from what I see online Dayshell didn't perform so well live (wonder why.) The way he sounds in Covette and Chapters! (his previous bands, Chapters! being the band before Of Mice) are honestly my favorite stuff he's put out. It seemed more authentic to me. If that Record label in Covette (Machines Are Taking Over) had fallen through I'm sure that the songs we know and love from Dayshell would have been made eventually, seeing that Dayshell and Covette were practically the same band but under different management. But everything happens for a reason, so to say...I love Bourget's voice it's just sad how cruel the music industry is. And don't get me wrong I absolutely love Dayshell but- Edit: Here's what I mean This is the title song "Machines Are Taking Over" studio vs live ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t6BkECd3kOo.html vs. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HZJMX0BVoxk.html And my FAVORITE performance their song "Night Vision" studio vs live ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1OhMbYgpBQs.html vs ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A13ELkThIJM.html Or just about any video from that channel or this one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sBV3ajqHTFw.html like the proof is there that he has so much potential. Like just imagine if someone took this band further and he could have gotten better live but we know what really happened. 🤷
Shay I met you and the boys in Calgary Alberta many moons ago with Stutterfly. I loved covette and still listen to the record regularly. I just saw your video about why you left of mice and men. Just want you to know the man upstairs who gave you the voice and music loves you more then you will ever know. Keep your chin up and hands folded bro. Looking forward to more music from you. Blessings
I really hope you bring more of this groups style to your future endeavors, had no idea any of thus music from Covette even existed. Everything you touch is gold haha
they have a mixture of incubus and three days grace and i love both of those groups... you guys should start it up again because you all have a great sound... not to mention that you guys are adorably cool looking
