Damn, the early 2000's were a great time to be alive. I was a teenager when this came out and I watched it repeatedly on FUSE, and even put this song on my MySpace player. Geoff always reminded me of my younger brother's friend. This song has gotta be like 15 years old now, but it still GOES OFF.
Fun fact: this was written during a three day writing retreat ordered from their A&R because he felt the band needed a single for the album. The A&R was inspired by how Springsteen came up with "Dancing in the Dark" in the same manner.

It’s so weird, I find myself thinking of this song randomly at times, even though i haven’t heard the song in over 10 years. It’s not like the song was that big a hit or that I was a big fan. Yet for some reason it just pops into my head now and then. All I remember is this came out during a bad phase of my life. Maybe that’s why I never forget the song.

G K I agree. One of my first shows about 2005ish was Thursday and Circa Survive. Small venue in Philly. I’ve seen very few shows that compared to this day. Geoff and Anthony are living legends.

To me, this song was great because it was just "radio-friendly" enough, while still maintaining the sound that made Thursday great. I'm really shocked this one didn't propel them to bigger heights as a band. I remember the "oh sh!t...." (in a good way) moment I had when I first heard it.

They are one of my top five fav bands of all time. I am the same age as you and have been listening to them since 2001. Saw them live for the first time in 2019 in Brooklyn NY. It was an amazing show.
Every once in a while I come to this part of youtube to know that I'm not the only one, not only loved this band, but knew that they existed. The shit part of coming from a small town. Watching these videos again and reading the comments, it feels like coming home. :D

I know a guy that played keyboard for them for a tour and he said they were the nicest guys. Also that their fanbase is an unwavering force. I can see why - I’m still a fan after all these years.

2003 was the year. This record, the Matchbook Romance's one, the Taking Back Sunday vibe that was around, Funeral for a Friend. I usually don't like this style but in 2003 all these records were really on point.

i remember seeing this band about a week after my mom passed away and being blown away by their live presence. dont see how theyre considered emo since their lyrics are actually thoughtful and music upbeat. yeah im a metalhead btw, grew up with 80s thrash but always appreciative of good music/lyrics.
