In all fairness his lifetime ban ended yesterday. But, Pete Rose HIMSELF said that inducting him after his death would make no sense to his family because he wouldn’t be there to enjoy it. Granted he should have been in the Hall the day he retired as a player, the fact the greatest hitter of all time isn’t in Cooperstown is a crime within itself
The HOF did the right thing! When I was a kid, Pete Rose was the MANAGER/player of the Reds. He bet on his OWN GAMES, manipulating the outcome, by making SKETCHY decisions during games, throughout MULTIPLE seasons, which put the INTEGRITY of MLB in jeopardy = therefore, FAY VINCENT made it a MANDATE FOREVER that PETE ROSE would never get into the HOF, especially because of his record + his HOF career, which probably deserved to be in their more than anyone else. He deserved his punishment + NO ONE has ever done anything that stupid since, until that kid in the NBA, who was OBVIOUSLY just young enough to do something that stupid, without knowing the well-known history behind it
The difference between Bonds and those guys and Pete Rose is the allegations outside of baseball and the way he addressed them, KEEP HIM OUT. If they do let him in, OVERTURN Wander Franco’s ban and pay him for time missed and pay the others that have been banned for the same things.
