OK so I bought it and have been playing around with it. My thoughts on the systems is that they are very thorough and accurate. Flight behavior, in the hover, it feels like an AS350. Once you pass through ETL it does some weird stuff. For one, Transverse flow and ETL are highly exaggerated, which feels weird. It needs way more right pedal in cruise than the real thing. For a given weight configuration and power setting, it cruises way too fast. (close to max all up weight in the ones I am flying, at 9 on the FLI, we are typically cruising around 125 knots while in this sim I am pulling 130 knots at 7 or 8 on the FLI). When reducing power, it doesn't want to slow down or lose altitude and even with a throttle chop, I feel it just "floats" in the air. The RPM's act very weird as well. The EECU (FADEC) on the H125 is very very quick, you don't typically see any big RPM changes corresponding to collective pitch changes unless you are dumping air into the rotor system with an abrupt flare. The RPMs seem to be all over the place on this one. So I definitely feel it has some work that needs to be done on the flight model and the relationship between the RPM/Power settings/and aircraft performance need to be worked out better. But it has a lot of potential. These are all things that can be fixed. Also, as a side note, I have flown 3 of the real world versions of the paint schemes available, which I thought was really cool; N883GT, N864MB and N835PA.

Ha, nice 😀. Quite a few Helis do take some effort to slow down in XP11. I think it's the Flight Model in general which is pretty good yet not perfect. Quite excited what XP12 will have to offer...and MSFS for that matter. Do you fly on full sized controls?

Haven't flown this particular addon yet, but as a real world H125 driver, I had to laugh when you kept remarking about how massive the tail rotor is. Yes, the B3e tail rotor is massive on the real thing and I feel it's accurately depicted here. That's why it needs hydraulic boost, but it's also very effective. Interesting but useless fact, the first fleet of H125's (bought by Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters) didn't have a hydraulic servo for the tail rotor. They added weights to help neutralize the forces and assist the pilot when they moved the pedals. These weights quickly cracked the elastomeric half-shell bearings though and Papillon flew it's fleet of B3e's to Grand Prairie TX and left them on the ramp at the factory for Airbus to fix.

Hi Scott, thanks for your input! Yepp, after checking some more photos of the real H125, I reassessed my statement. The dimensions seem pretty much spot on. I guess I was referencing internally to the Dreamfoil 3D model which after all isn't flawless... Be sure to tell us your opinion of the Flight model once You took it for a spin 👍 Greetings

@@thenerdyhelisimmer4608 bear in mind that there is 3d-modelling and there is planemaker modelling. the 3d-model has no influence to how the thing flies, you could attach whatever to its tail without feeling a difference. the actual design happens in planemaker and much is pre-assigned by x-plane's native aerodynamics engine. It is expected that cowan outlets are not professionally modified and that most of the flight dynamics are simply default. the guy does not even have a pilot's license, so what can you expect. Despite i love your videos, it is hard to make appropriate analyses of such sim products. The level of realism is probably around 80% for almost every add-on you find in the x-plane world as long as the respective authors keep filling most of accurate data into planemaker, so i don't see a problem if you make purchase recommendations to beginners as long as you reserve professional distance. I don't fly the 125 myself, so i am interested what actual rated colleagues have to tell when it comes to accuracy. Often they try to be nice and give it an okay. not sure if that's the right way.

You're welcome. Sorry about the video-sound. Your soundset is pretty much spot on. Maybe just a little more high pitched turbine sound inside and more pronounced blade slap needed. About the Tailrotor: After looking at quite a few pictures I think You got it right! It is quite big... One of the switches says HORM instead of HORN (already posted on the forum) and one thing to check with your pilots as I'm not sure how it's done with the Astar but in the Gazelle one would stop one Blade pointing straight ahead as to not have any blade coming to rest above the engine exhaust. I noticed that the park and secure rotor function does it the other way around... Very good with fps this time and the fact that nobody seems to have any major issues right after first release is a testiment to your progress and proficiency. Thank you and Keep it up 🤙

Cowan heli's are awesome, have every one of them including just got this one. I will say, the gauges for me were disappointing, more like a "stick" on instruments, not 3D like his others. I know he will continue to improve upon this one, and the looks of panel will be key to the other things others have mentioned.

X-Axis and Y-Axis of Your Cyclic to Roll and pitch; Pedals to yaw and collective/slider to collective should get You going. The twist-grip throttle which in the As350 is basically a two way switch (idle and flight) is most often assigned to either throttle or wing sweep. You need to check the installation instructions of each helicopter-sim. Oh and don't forget to unlatch the collective or it will not move. Hope that helps ✌

Hi Orlando, depends on the helicopter. The Huey in DCS let's you fly with hydraulics off. So does the dreamfoil as50 in XP. The stiffness in the flight controls is kind of hard to replicate though. Unless you have motorized controls and some kind of ffb 😉. The real Bell 412 for instance cannot be controlled without hydraulics. That's why they have two independent systems on board for redundancy...

weird dynamics. guess it takes a bit more than picking a popular model and give it 1000 4k liveries. as long as that blingbling obviously helps cowan's dumb fan crowd believe they can fly a helicopter, seems some of these weirdos really purchased this with money without even testing. glad they'll never make it to a real license and pollute air traffic. definetly giving preference to professional developers like dreamfoil, flyQ, BFDG, Ubben or vskylabs. sorry cowan, but this is microsoft level.
