Hey! I'm looking for a helicopter flight sim community. All Discordservers are about fixed wing aircraft. Does anyone know a community for helicopters?
Nice review. Thank you for this. I agree to everything said by you. Tested it the same way. Same results and impressions. I can definitely recommend this helicopter.
I fly the real 109SP and I must say from the previews I’ve seen so far this is very accurately modelled. Even sounds pretty much the same, but then I use ANR headsets so does dampen out much of the noise. BTW you can also tell if your U/C is down by not only the gear lights but also on the PFD in the centre you will see 3 in-line dots. Yes you correct…..always fly with AP1 and 2 engaged……in real life it’s more unstable then what I saw in your demo.
Strange enough there are some rotor sim pilots like me who prefer to fly without the SAS autopilot mode. On my extended joystick, the controls felt spot one in terms of sensitivity. I had the x-rotor A109 model for Xplane 11, enjoyed it alot. But abandoned the addon when I upgraded to Xplane 12, and this model seems to look alot better than x-rotor's A109 in some ways. Yet it's my opinion, and I have not even flown the B412 from x-trident either. But will pickup this model at a later stage :) Thanks for the brief review.
Agree. I don't like the feel of SAS either. But flying without in in this bird and the EC35 is simply pain. Also when doing long haul flights, say above 1 hr, I prefer an afcs. Thx for your input...
@@thenerdyhelisimmer4608 thanks bud... I have to say I agree with your comment about the wind effect on helicopters in XP12, it just gets monotonous after a short while..
I think you did a good job of handling this aircraft both in auto pilot and off although for someone who is not use to flying this aircraft the autopilot feature would be a benefit. There appears to be a lot model in this aircraft that would make learning challenging and interesting. Just my take.
Wonderful machine and representation of it in DCS, my favorite along the Mi8. One thing to note about the AP channel system, as most helicopters with such systems and the Mi8 as well its SOP to have these on all the time but the one in the Hind differs a little from the one in the Hip, where in the Hip the yaw channel is simply recentered with the trim button along all the other channels the Hind uses something they call pedal microswitch, its sort of a very primitive autotrimmer for the yaw channel, in the real machine when the pilot pushes down on the pedals he activates pressure plates on the pedals that activate a microswitch that disengages the yaw AP channel for the duration of input, once happy with the yaw the pilot slowly releases pressure on the pedals again, disengaging the microswitch wich in turn engages the yaw channel again but now centered on this new position and the pedals also stay in this new position. This is of course hard to simulate with sim peripherals as basically no pedals for PC have such a special system built into them so there are a couple options to handle this system hidden in the special settings of the Hind, I personally like to have the microswitch automatically engaged as soon as I move the pedals and manually release the microswitch with an addional button on my stick again. This whole microswitch/pedal/yaw AP thing is the reason you felt the helicopter fighting you in turns because the AP channel is actively doing so because it is engaged tries to keep the aircraft straight and level :)
In x-plane 12 when the flight speed comes below 20 knots and I increase collective (slowly) to slow down the decent, the helicopter makes a nasty yaw opposite the rotor rotation. Making a large and deep opposite torque pedal necessary. Also the very rapid decent due to your own rotor wash is quite exaggerated. Making me question if that also happens so extreme in real helicopter flight. What’s your take on that?
Hey, once a helicopter leaves effective translational lift it requires more power to stay airborne. When increasing collective torque induced yaw will get stronger requiring You to give more power pedal to compensate. So it's generally a realistic feature of the XP12 Flight model. However I do think it's a little exagerated. It seems to drop too suddenly and not gradually like in some DCS-models. I still think that the XP12 FM is pretty good and quite a bit better than XP11.
I think it’s also due my Hotas throttle I use as collective. Had the response curve in linear. Now I adjusted it with a bit flatter curve in the hover region so the response is much milder. Thanks , keep those great vids coming. 😊
Can you explain how you made the joystick settings for the helicopter? I use thrustmaster hotas. When I give it gas, it does not take off or it turns around itself very quickly and crashes. What should I do? Thank you.
Check out my video about control settings. It's part of the Playlist "How to fly a helicopter in a sim". Make sure You have full throttle with governor on and use proper Anti-Torque controls.
Thanks for the explanation, going to see all the episodes, 300hours on vatsim and I don't know how to do helicopter procedures neither flying them. Thanks for the help again.
Excellent video! Excellent helicopter. I used to flying it in the seventies (73 y.o.). You fly it five stars! How can I get that small window "Axis viewer"?
great to hear... but allot of the people starting, will decide between the R44 or Cabri... both internal combustion engines... used for training, the 66 is a turbine... which leads to more advance level. added to the fact that a R44 is available as a freeware heli with MSFS... @@thenerdyhelisimmer4608
Nice review as always. Glad to know the improvements over the x-plane 11 version. The s300 is where I obtained my ppl, so I’ll definitely pick this one up at some point. Cheers!
Unfortunately, the new model did not get closer to the real flight of a helicopter. This indicates big problems for the module developer and a lack of full understanding of how a helicopter should fly.
Hi Nerdy Heli Simmer.
Hallo nochmal an@@thenerdyhelisimmer4608. Jetzt weiß ich, warum ich den GTN750 nicht im EC135 verwenden kann: ich nutze X-Plane auf einem Mac - und das Garmin-Plugin gibt es nur für Windows, nicht aber für MacOS! 😢
i don't know about police helicopters but when we are firefighting we use transpoder code 1255, did some sleuthing on wikipedia apparently law enforcement might use 4400-4477.... but don't quote me on that
I find it a bit too sensitive on the pedals but everything else is realistic. The way the EC130 reacts when you lower the collective and pull the cyclic is realistic because the helicopter reduces its speed instead of climbing (which happens on Cowansim's H125). What I prefer on this helicopter is the sound of the blades when reducing speed 👍👍👍
Hey mate, very good video! Do you use any head tracking device? TrackIR or Tobi eye tracker? I mainly use VR, but on X-plane 12 the VR is not working for me, so I've been using MSFS, but I want to go back to helicopters in XP12. The problem is that I'm like a stupid when dealing with the camera on X-plane, so a head tracking device should solve the problem. Thank you! Keep up the good work!
Thanks mate! Yep, I'm using Track IR. Works fine with MSFS too. But it's not like VR. It doesn't improve your peripheral vision one bit. Simply makes it easier to turn your head 😉
@@pannawatjadmaeng872How will this help me fly the helicopter at the same speed and in the same direction by releasing the cyclic pitch stick?🙂 It does not have the autopilot function itself, since it is controlled only manually.
