Scholarships are a percentile pittance compared to the revenue the best athletic programs generate. He criticized the flaws of the NCAA regarding "amateurism" and "student-athlete," emphasizing certain regulations such as allowing multinational organizations to advertise their brand on athletic gear but athletes cannot use any of their memorabilia to get cash or a free tattoo at a tattoo parlor. Branch argued that the real scandal is not that some college athletes are getting illegally paid or recruited, but that the NCAA justifies its exploitation of college athletes with its two core argumentative pillars, amateurism and student-athlete.

Riley hit the mark the NCAA refuses to make a decision for all sports s they will not become a larger target for the trans + community. Instead they are gonna have a bunch of policies that make no one happy and leave it to the courts to settle it for them. When the dust settles they will then say they had no choice in the matter as the courts have decided it for them. It would just be so horrible for the NCAA to do what is right in the first place.
