I took the time to creep on your tires. Notice the letters BE on the side. That means they were made in the factory where I work in Alabama. I hope you're happy with them! I don't make them, but i work with the rubber mixing processes involved. Thanks for buying Goodrich!
Anything. Rabbits. Lizards. Snakes. Coyotes......mountain lion. Sasquatch. People. Insects. Birds. Freezing creaking stones, and plants. Lots of things make noise when you get out of civilization.
@@AdventureTimeLoui , yes he is warning them to back off or he’ll duck them up. His growling is letting them know. I’m here …. My pit bull does the same . I’m so grateful you have him.
I admire your bravery once William started barking I would have headed to the car. I love your videos thank you for showing me a different way of living
You're my kind of people Loui, giving William kisses and talking to him like he's a little human 😊. He's a good boy. Good idea testing out the backpacking gear with the safety net of having your vehicle near to bail if ya gotta. Also, I think it's very perceptive of you to reflect and accept how you like to experience adventure. I realized a very long time ago while bike touring that I really am more of a fair weather adventurer...extreme suffer-fests just aren't for me anymore! Take care and travel safe!
Loui, I love how you’re not scared to fail! William obviously loves his sleeping bag though.🤣 Oh, and thanks for saving Foresty from that bighorn ram via text! 🤣
Loui is giving us all a present. She makes this look like a never-ending adventure, but the camera work, editing, etc. is a lot of work. Give her a present in return and toss her some cash. A lot of littles go a long way ... and remember ... it's always fun till the rabbit has the gun!
I love how unpretentious and honest your videos are. Some things go well, some things don't, the food is an experiment, and the sidekick has a mind of his own. It's wonderfully chill, and sometimes surprisingly informative, and that's a great combination!
Loui, you created a lovely meal. Neat to see you trying out cowgirl camping. Your honestly about the experience is refreshing. We tried the same doggie sleeping bag, but our beagle didn’t like it. Creepy quiet is something everyone should experience. Your video format with the indigenous peoples information was a good one.
I used to love backpacking in the mountains, but I was much younger then and like 'roughing it'. I'm older now, and want the comforts of a bed. The bed can be in a vehicle or home, but soft and comfy sleeping is more important to me. Your jeep brings you must anywhere, so it's great to have your bed with you :)
This is great! If I were cold in my bag I’d be tempted to see if I could fit William in with me-or if I could put the opening on his bag by my head so I could steal his heat 😆
I used to Cowboy camp on the Colorado River and Lake Mohave. But I used a small dome tent or a cot with a rope around it. Mostly to keep coyotes from bugging me and rattlesnakes. Both are extremely curious. I woke up from my cot to find a bunch of coyotes tracks all around my sleeping area but they never crossed over the rope area. And I never saw any snake tracks ever.
William is such a trooper. He was not having it with whatever may have been roaming around. I've never cowgirl camped, but one thing I do when winter camping is taking a small hot water bottle and put it in a sock. I put it at the bottom of my sleeping bag for extra warmth. Also, hot hand warmers work wonders in the socks and don't take up a lot of space in your pack. Thank you for the history portion of the video too! Loved it as always!!!
I know everyone has already married you and Simon off, but Im just happy you and Simon are still doing solo trips. Don't rush. Enjoy 😉😊 Glad you guys are meeting up again soon...probably already together.
Camping is one of those things that takes time and experience to figure out how to be comfortable. A warmer sleeping bag will help, but there are many things you can do to make your sleep a warmer one, like a lean to tarp configuration for heat reflection from the fire, warming rocks by the fire for warming your sleeping bag (put them in socks or a towel so you don't melt your sleeping bag), adding layers like a wool blanket outer layer that holds heat in. Another fun thing to do is hammock camping, but that's a whole other thing that has its own challenges. If you keep at it I have no doubt you'll find what works best for you, it just takes trying different things and some experimentation.
Great video! As a fellow cast iron cook myself, for a lid for your skillet, use another skillet the same size. Works great and doesn’t take up much more space. 🥰
At least you gave it a try! You can never fully appreciate being warm until you have spent a night out exposed to the cold ;). You certainly have now done that. Thanks for another great video.
What a great video! Loved that you stuck it out. William is adorable. Thanks for the info on the area. Really enjoyed that. Lesson learned, bust out that tent cowgirl!
Yeah man.. you hit it all. And when you go there and you feel that... you're making the poetry of their art and your life connect on a way that the precious life were given has profound meaning more than anything we've ever been taught.
Boil some water and pour into a Nalgene bottle. Toss it to the bottom of your bag. Think about two bags (one inside the other) and a fleece liner. Great to see you learning and trying new adventures.
Maybe try putting a hot water bottle into the sleeping bag with you next time and eat some chocolate or (and!) peanut butter right before bedtime so your metabolism has extra calories to burn for keeping warm :) Also I find it helps using two mats, because you lose a lot of heat to the ground. And it feels like a lot of sleeping bags are rated extremely optimistically, I always need to go to a way warmer bag. What works pretty good is doubling up a light summer bag and a warm bag, but of course that gets heavy. Anyway, maybe play around a bit with different setups - everybody has a different metabolism, but it is totally possible to sleep warm in the winter :) Oh and drinking chicken broth is like a blast of liquid heat! Beautiful time lapse video of the sunrise 👍
The hot water bottle goes along way to getting better sleep and fill a thermos for a refill. Love to cold weather camp. Also let the dog in the bag with you. BTW I hear Simons in Utah too!
Hot water bottle then when that gets cold in the early hours pop open a couple of hand warmers; one by the toes and one in the middle. A bivvy bag adds 5-10 degrees too and the frost will form on that instead of directly on the sleeping bag
You are very brave young woman, I couldn't do that without a tent over me, it makes a big difference to your well being and warmth. I think William was more scared than you barking in his sleeping bag, so funny. Utah is one of my favourite States, I've explored this area (and I'm from the UK) since 1992. With a full moon, its so bright, you can hike at night. Love your content, keep it coming please. Ps, I think your truck is really coool.
I admire you for trying out new things! You keep going! Just one thing: listen to your dog when he barks and alerts, don't forget that dogs can smell a teaspoon of sugar in an Olympic size pool! Stay safe now!
From my experience, it is always good to have a tent to block wind and retain heat. The last time I did winter backpacking I sadly caught pneumonia and it knocked me out for 3 months. Be careful out there with the cold.
A tent would make a difference in that cold. Then William would relax more and help you warm it up. I also don't do cold well so I have a zero degree bag with waterproof breathable shell with insulated mat (inflatable exped - this really helps). Love the video have fun and stay safe!
No matter what, if a dog barks and tells me there's something, I am 100% believing that dog. Great video but I don't think you should have put William back in the vehicle. Thanks for the hard work.
That meal looks amazing! I have to try it. Glad to see you back on the road. You've inspired me with my own vanlife journey! Loved your videos with Foresty Forest.
