This video shows how to adjust the feed dog to needle and also feed dog to needle plate on a Cowboy CB4500 and most other 441 clone sewing machines. WARNING - First before doing any of the instructions shown here be sure that your machine is not powered on.This is focusing in particular on the installation of the narrow needle plate and feed dog set now available here from Australia. Many people all over the world are now using these sets to enable them to sew finer leathers and closer to the edge than was previously possible. These sets have some close tolerances and having them set up correctly is what I aim to show you in this video. I just received the narrow slot today, installed it and saw the needle was closer to one side of the feed dog. This video will help me to adjust it. Thank you. Also, glad I’m not the only one to get a bird’s nest 😂! Keep up the videos

Extremely useful, thanks. I just got my set and will be installing it much more confidently with this help. What should I Google to get the stumpy screwdriver and the ratchet handle?

The stumpy screwdriver is just some screw thing out of a fan or something I ground down to shape. The ratchet handle one I bought at a hardware store called Bunnings here in Australia. Glad you bought a set and I think you will be as well once you try it out.

How should the top of the feed dog align with the top of the needle plate. Should it be even with the plate?

This would depend on the type of work you are doing with it. I run mine about level to maybe just a tad above for most stuff. If you are doing bulky soft stuff then you may want the feed dog set up higher to improve the feeding action.

@@wildharry3203 Thank you. I took it up as high as I could and it is a little bit above the plate (1/64” .35mm or less). Seems to work ok. I even sewed 2 layers of thin cotton T-shirt material. Other than puckering a little, due to guessing on tension, it sewed the material, and that was with 277/22 thread/needle combo (it’s what I have).
