Here is another video for users of the Cowboy 3200. In this video I not only talk about why you might want the Flat Needle Plate but how to install it. You can find this unit at Neel's Saddlery - neelsaddlery.com/
You could be using a screwdriver that is not angled. That grips screws better and is less likely to strip it! They taper down quickly and are flat when they go into the slot!
So...every video I’ve seen folks make about this feed plate always says you can reinstall the feed dog screw back in there after you remove the feed dog...even though no one ever puts the screw back into THEIR machine in these videos... Well - going on your advice, I did install it back in after I removed thevfeed dog and it COMPLETELY LOCKS UP THE MACHINE. You can’t turn the balance wheel at all with it in there and yes I had it snugged down very tightly. Why would that happen?? Why would it lock up like that on me, but apparently not on your machine?
That is 277 4 ounce thread from the Thread Store. The needle is stock for the machine. The need is from Organ Needles (organ-needles.com/english/product/index.php) 25/200.
Depending on the accessories you get, they're around $1,500 to $1,800 new. I see you have Texas in your name. Solar Leather is in Dallas and is a distributor for the Cowboy machines. I'm in Oklahoma, just across the Red River and got my 3200 there and have had it right at 2 years...love it. If you go pick it up, Alexander will walk you through everything you need to know to start sewing, and you save on shipping.
