Cowboy Cookies are also known as Ranger Cookies, Kitchen Sink Cookies, and Everything Cookies. But they're really just an Oatmeal Cookie with chocolate chips, raisins, chopped nuts, and dried coconut. Freshly baked, the edges of the cookies are nice and crispy, yet the centers are soft and chewy. First Lady Laura Bush may have helped with this cookie's popularity when her Cowboy Cookie recipe won over Tipper Gore's Ginger Snap recipe in the Family Circle's Magazine Cookie Bake-off during the 2000 presidential campaign.

Thank you for the memories. I used to make these with Mom as a kid. There were 6 in my family so we doubled or tripled the recipe. We added corn flakes, sometimes Cheerios or whatever other crispy cereal we had on hand. They were always delicious. Man, that was at least 65 years ago. Think I'll make a batch later today.

I like to send cookies and squares in the mail to family and friends...who wouldn't love a delicious package? These are great because they don't crumble into bits if you wrap them while still slightly warm. The raisins help keep them moist. Thanks for the reminder to make and ship a batch Stephanie!

For extra crunch, add 1/2 cup rice cereal. Love your recipes, everytime I give out your lemon shortbread cookies, they rave about them! Carrie wants a cookie, too

Made this recipe today and yielded 23 pieces of 3-1/2" diameter delicious cookies. Used quick cooking oats as it is what I have, with crushed walnuts, sweetened shredded coconut, raisins and topped with pecans. I omitted the choco chips and added same amount of raisins. Came out beautiful with sweetness just right, loved it. Recipe for keeps. Thank you.

My kind of cookie...coconut and nuts🙂 my grandchildren like them chewy and I like them crisp and nutty. So I form theirs 1st then I add my extras and make mine. Everybody is happy. Definitely making these very soon as I have all ingredients👌👌

Stephanie your recipe is similar to mine and is an absolute favorite in my house. When I first started making them I would mix everything by hand. I thought I was an amazon women because the batter is so thick. But then I got my stand mixer and wow it made life easier. I love your addition of honey to the recipe and will incorporate that in my next batch. Once again you nailed it. Thank you.

I love cookies and this is a great recipe to use with dried fruits. And I’m with you Stephanie. Pecans are my favorite nut to put in a cookie, roasted first of course. I think I would also add some pumpkin seeds and a little nutmeg and definitely the cinnamon. Thank you for another great recipe! 🍪

Because of what these contain, we use them as a breakfast cookie, something that you can grab and go in a hurry. I like mine with golden raisins, and my brother has made them with pistachio nuts before, and that was AWESOME

Oatmeal Cookies tend to be on the sweet side, although I find the flavor softens after a day. I didn’t want to alter this recipe very much from the original, but you could cut back on the sugar.
