@Cowboy Kent Rollins - Hey Kent! Love your videos, sadly I've got celiac disease and am unable to eat 99% of what you show on your channel. I do try to make some for my wife as she also loves your cooking, but it's just not the same when you can't have any. I was wondering if you have any gluten free recipes you could share for one of your videos? Or any that you could adapt to be gluten free. Thanks Kent, keep up the great work.

Hey there Kent, physician here. I love your videos and I'm sure when supplies are limited you use what you can but I have a few thoughts about your recommendations. Using something like lime juice would be fine for an initial cleanse of a wound because of the citric acid but after that it's just best to keep the wound clean as further treatments would actually inhibit healing as you're affecting the newly growing cells. I would be VERY careful with ever putting something in your eye that's not actually meant to be in the eye. Contaminants in the potato such as fungus or bacteria would thrive in the eye, so a topical application on the closed eyelid would be fine but just be cautious with the eye itself. Lemon water daily would be just fine but there isn't such a thing as a liver "cleanse" other than just being a buzzword for supplement salespeople. Maalox or mild of magnesia is fine for a canker/cold sore but you can also take Lysine (over the counter amino acid) to help reduce the frequency of getting them if you are prone. If you prefer a more "old school" approach you can just drink buttermilk because it's naturally high in lysine. You are indeed correct about cherries for gout as there is good evidence to support that as a natural treatment for a gout attack. Avoiding triggers like high-protein diets and alcohol can also help. Hope that helps. Please keep doing what you're doing as we all benefit from your experience.

Great video! A dear friend who was a trauma surgeon had shared many tips with me through the years before he passed away. One was this… We all know that honey is a great antibacterial/anti microbial but what to do for a deep wound or one that is not healing well and honey is making a mess… Pack it with Brown Sugar! Light or Dark both work great! He always kept some in the hospital pharmacy! Wash gently, allow to air dry as much as possible, then pack with the brown sugar and cover to keep it waterproof. Each time you change the dressing, allow it to air for a good while. Blessings to Y’all ❣️

Im also not a Dr, but I was an EMT/Medic for a lot of years and saw a lot of burns, and for a burn, the most important thing is to stop the burning process. Run under cool water. Do not put butter or lard on a burn as those will act as an insulator and keep heat in.
@marksmith9295

So true as you need to reduce temperature right away. Always a good idea to have a first aid kit handy with a tube of flamazine. That stuff is great.

@@marksmith9295 Yeah, I don't see any real "need" for cowboy cures since we live in an era where it's not terribly hard to buy or assemble a simple medical kit and stash it wherever to take with you on the job or while traveling. At least some bandages, gauze, and antiseptic...

Reducing the burn slower helps reduce blistering later. Im forever burning myself on something. It sucks, but if it isn't burnt white or black, warm almost hot water. Then slowly lower to cool. I have a waffle iron scar on my forearm, didnt blister though

This might seem a little crazy but I've done it and it works. If you have a sliver or a thorn that you can't get out, take some egg white and dab it generously on a bandage and put the bandage over where the sliver or thorn is and leave it overnight. Seal up the bandage good with saran wrap or tape or whatever of course. In the morning when you take the bandage off that egg white will have drawn that sliver out or at least out far enough you can just pull it out. My grandma showed me this when I was little and had a rose thorn stuck in my leg and we couldn't get it out. I'm not a doctor but it has worked for me.

Had me a severe cut on the ring finger of my right hand. It was seriously bad and doctors wanted it to heal from the inside out. After nine months of that I just couldn't take any more. My Papa suggested I put some all-stock on it, it's for horses and livestock and you can get it at the co-op. Papa warned me that it would sting, but didn't feel a thing on account of the nerve got severed. It was healed up in just a couple weeks, after that I carried that stuff everywhere with me on farms, fields, woods and riverbanks. Good stuff!!!

Ginger is wonderful for nausea. I discovered it before our first cruise, and I turned on some friends on the cruise. Every single one thanked me every time they saw me after that. I now keep ginger capsules with me at all times due to a gut condition. Ginger ale, ginger tea, etc. work well, too. Ground ginger steeped in hot water is also a good trick.

For poison oak or ivy, soak a rag with isopropyl alcohol and hold it against the rash. Some folks think it stings too much, but it relieves the itch and dries up the rash quick. The quicker you put it on the rash the better. If my four year old son could stand the sting from the alcohol without a whimper, surely others can too. It'll only sting bad for a minute, and it'll kill that itch so good and quick you'll forget it stings. Alcohol is also helpful to slow the itch of mosquito bites, but you've gotta soak a rag and hold it against the bite too.

My wife keeps an aloe vera plant just outside all the time. Don't have problems with poison oak/poison ivy here but any kind of burn, cut, rash on the skin gets an immediate dose of aloe vera juice and it helps me. Don't know if you'd have room in the Studebaker for an aloe vera pot plant, but if you have a spare corner, it's good stuff.
