I am so sorry to hear about your house! You and Shannon are truly remarkable people continuing to make these videos for us when you must have so much on your plates right now! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! 😊
Kent, we are just learning about your house fire. First of all, we are very happy to hear y’all weren’t hurt. I hope that you can rebuild and enjoy a whole new set of memories in the rebuilt home!
@@CowboyKentRollins i know the feeling of losing a house to a wildfire i lost my house in the Oklahoma Mannford wild fire my house went up in 3 mins everyone got out safe my mom threw the cat in a duffle bag 😂
A friend passed away and his family asked if I wanted to see if there was anything I wanted of his. Nothing in the house but 4 pieces of cast iron in the barn. I use them all the time after cleaning off all the rust. Thank you Kent and Shannon... and the boys.
You helped me restore some of my pieces 5 1/2 years ago after my house burned down and even donated a few new ones to me because I lost so much! It made me cry and showed me the love and compassion that still exist in humanity! Thank you for that. I am sorry you lost your home years later. My heart goes out to you and your family. Thank you for all you do and for having a heart of gold.
I'm so sorry for your loss. My grandparents lost two houses. The first one to a tornado, then about 10 years later, to a fire. I remember my Grandma cooking on her skillet that was warped like that one skillet you had. I asked her why she didn't get another skillet, she said it had memories since it was about the only thing that survived both disasters.
Kent and Shannon we were so sorry to hear of the house fire. And on top of loosing the Beag! Heart breaking.. We've had you guys in our prayers and are hoping for a quick recovery for you. Hugs and prayers to you both.
Kent, I'm so sorry about your house in New Mexico. This has been such a rough year so far for so many people. It's terrible to lose an entire house. I hope that you can rebuild and give it some touches that remind you of the old place. Thank God that you and your family and your animals are okay. Great video on salvaging cast iron. I really appreciate it. You're in my prayers along with Shan and your whole family.
Never met you sir, but I've watched many of your videos. This video says a lot about your character, you took a personal negative and made it into a positive to teach thousands of people how to restore their own cast iron. Thank you for all the videos!
Ya'all have had some rough moments with your losses. The Ruidoso fire and ongoing flooding has been tough. Thank you for your courage and letting us be part of your onward journey.
My Mom's and Dad's house burned in 2021. The cast survived. Heat them up and seasoned and still use them. I've got some that we use every day that's from the 1800s. Ain't dead yet. Coarse Salt heat oil and patience makes them great again 🙏♥️🇺🇸
I lost everything in a fire, except for the most important things which were my 2 year old daughter, her father and I. We had to scramble out the bedroom window. Fires are so fast and lethal, only people who have been through it really understand the trauma. So very sorry you guys went through that but so glad you survived it. Thank God.
Kent, you are a testament of a man to live up to. You and your family have been through a lot with the passing of the Beag and now the house. I hope I can be as strong as you are when my time comes to face hardship. God bless you and your family
I’m so sorry to hear of your loss Kent. You guys have been through so much recently. I will keep you in my prayers. And it is with pride, honor, and privilege that I tipped my hat to you guys. I’m glad y’all are safe.
I'm sad to hear about the loss of your house... and the Beag. I hope your homeowners insurance will allow you to rebuild. Glad you weren't hurt. Thank you far all the great videos.
I am so sorry for what you have gone thru recently. First you loose your beloved beagle; then you loose your home. And yet you keep going on and doing for others. You and Shannon are remarkable people. Bless you both.
I’m so sorry about your house fire. I also lost everything in a house fire and thank God no one was hurt. Things can be bought but we have memories to hold onto. Blessings to you and Shannon.
You sir, are one of the finest examples of charity love and hope. Thank you for the reminder and the inspiration. The significamce is not lost on this felliow. My brother you give me strength to provide the same where i am able.
oh my gosh i didnt realize you were affected by the fires. some of my family lives up there, [if your talkinf about the same fires around ruidoso] but thankfully they were far enough away they're houses are ok. they hosted 14 people at their house and quite a few animals. this is a great video for many right now as alot of people did lose their houses. im so sorry you guys were one of them! and i hope you haven't been affected by all the flooding they've been having now. i bet you know my parents they deliver hay to ranches up there! I'll have to ask em : ) it'd give me a kick if they know you when I've watched you for years
Sometimes all it takes is just one small thing to give one hope and booster one's faith. I've seen it before, after tornados and hurricanes, people thinking all is lost, then the neighbors show up, they find an important item of memory, or their dog or cat appears. Yes, there are tears and pain, but then peace and joy take hold. God be with you.
Prayers for you and Shannon. I recall you mentioning something about a house fire but had no idea how bad. Y’all have had a rough year with that and the loss of the Beags. So glad you all were not home and all the 4 legged children weren’t there either. Know you and Shannon are loved by many. May God bless you both.
Oh, my husband & I are just so sad and sorry for the loss of your home and belongings. You’re both safe, your furbabies are safe, and things can be replaced for the most part. We love y’all❤🙏🏼
Sorry about the house. I know toughest part is the items that have memories attached to them. With that said, once again your an inspiration to me. Your attitude and your actions alway show your character and faith. I hope to be that good of a man one day. I know you will take care of Shannon and yourself. Thanks Kent.
It's definitely the memories and stuff stored away that take the longest to get over. While they are things, there is quite a sentimental value on them. But as you said, the actual important things managed to get out. In my case, it was grandma, my 4 yr and 1yr old home alone.
I use my grandma's cast iron pan regularly, and I love it. There is an X on the bottom of the pan, and she received it as a wedding gift back in the 1930s. It also has a hammered finish on the outside. Maybe Chicago foundry? Not only does it cook great, but every time I use it, I feel connected to my grandma.
Sorry about the house Ruidoso is one of my favorite places. In 2013 we lost alot if iron in an OK tornado. I did exactly what you did save my iron. No fire but lots rain came before i could get to it. Onward and upward!🙏❤️
I'm so sorry for the loss of your house. It's inspirational taking something like that and pulling something educational out of it. Your a fantastic educator and wonderful person, Kent!
Love my grandma's old Griswold no. 7, best cast iron pan I've ever owned. Nice perfectly smooth layer of seasoning and cleans up easy. I needed a bigger pan as well and recently got a Field no. 10. Seems to be building seasoning up very nicely.
Thanks for sharing Kent! Sorry about you and Shannon loosing your house to a fire. Hope you can replace most that you lost. Lot of great information on repairing your cast iron cookware and reseasoning techniques. Stay safe and keep up the great videos. Fred.
Kent and Shannon so sorry hear about your property burning!!! At least no one hurt!! Enjoy your channel as always. God bless you both take care thanks for all you do!!!🙏🙏
I had not heard you lost your home! That is terrible. I am so sorry to hear of that, but thankfully you two survived . I cannot imagine how difficult that was . Sending prayers & thoughts for you both. God Bless & thinking of you all. 🙏
We have been watching you for years, we are so sorry for your loss, absolutely heartbreaking. We are praying for you and hope this somehow turns into something better.
The fires have been awful. I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your house but grateful to God that you and your family are well ❤. Restoring cast iron is a wonderful subject.
The fires I saw was surrounding Ruidoso NM. I'm so sorry you all lost your home, but that's just material.... It's the loss of life that's devastating, and thank God you both are safe!! I love your videos and this one really helps me. Take care 🙏✝️
omg i still sometimes think where is that oh it was in the house fire, that was over 30 years ago, sorry to hear of your loss, first I heard of it. I rarely touch my cast iron with water, I wipe it out with a dry paper towel after every use except when I do gravy, that gets water as hot as my hands will tolerate then dried and a wipe with an oily paper towel, everyone learns their own way and what you teach is very good advice for people who have not been working with cast iron since the 70s 😁
Sorry to hear about your house in New Mexico and great to see you fixing your cast iron skillets that were in the fire, i hope everything turns out good for you and your family God Bless You and thank you. 🇺🇲🍲🥘🤠🥘🍲🇺🇲
This is True Grit. Forget that ol' Rooster Cogburn--a man who can calmly discuss how to save ironware that's beeen through an inferno--and show US how to do it--is a man after my heart. Kent's lost his house, but by golly the family is okay and some of the cookware can be salvaged. I cannot express how much I admire this optimistic, can-do strength of character. God Bless you and your family, Kent!
Kent, Sorry to hear you lost your home in New Mexico. Homes are where we raise our families and share countless meals. Coming so soon after the loss of your dog, it has got to be awfully tough to bear. I'll be sure to keep you and Shannon in my prayers for peace of mind. See you on down the trail.
I am in awe of how you and Shannon keep on giving to all of us after losing so much. 3:48 - You might want to reach out to Keith Rucker down in Georgia from Vintage Machinery on RU-vid regarding that skillet. He is very skilled at working with old cast iron and brazing, and he could probably anneal the pan and braze that crack. Even if it still is a wallhanger, I think it might be a nice Kintsugi effect, and he might even be able to straighten those warped pieces or know somebody who can. I'm sure any old machinist could do it, but Keith seems like a real stand up guy and is always doing projects making and restoring things for other good people.
So sorry you two lost your home in New Mexico... My property is close by on a mountain top near Mayhill at New Mexico Skies. We had a bad fire a few years ago but came out okay.
It’s just not fair that a good soul like you has to keep going through hardships, I guess that’s life but you still keep a smile and sure as heck make me smile. Hang in there Kent.
I'm sorry for your loss. It gladden me to know you and yours are safe and sound. Truly remarkable that you and Shannon are continuing to make videos. I have you both in my prayers!
My wife and I moved in with my mother-in-law and all of her cast iron needed desperate help from neglect. Your videos helped us to get past the basics we were doing and do a top notch job bringing it all back. God bless y’all. If you need anything from the Four Corners. I’ll come running.
Sorry about y'alls house. Shame about your pan being cracked. Cast iron can be welded, if you want to try it. I've managed to save some pans that went through a fire. Dirty job, but using your tips we got through them. Glad you saved one. God bless y'all and stay safe out there in the camp kitchen.
I recently found a channel called orphaned iron. He does a lot of electrolysis to restore his products. But man, the collector pieces he has is amazing. I would love to see y’allin a video together!
Hi Mr Kent, I remember when you told us in a video. I wondered if any of your iron made it. I lost my house in that 2016 Gatlinburg wildlife. Unfortunately nothing was saved a total lost.
So very sorry to hear about the loss of your home. You have each other, which is most important. Hoping you didn’t lose a lot of memories, but keep in mind. You can create many many more good memories ahead of you.
I hope your dog is all right. I can hear a change in your voice. You have all the spunk that you had before. I pray the Lord will watch over you protect you keep you and comfort so you can rebuild in Jesus name amen.
