Quite a hoof trimming setup. Anything to securely restrain the animal sure helps prevent injuries to the animals and the operator. Your "little helper" is very comfortable out in the cattle shed!!! Happy Easter to all you folks. Hope the weather turns to Spring...here in Ohio(USA) we've had warm teaser days, then it turns cold again. Right now it's about 52 degrees and raining...the boots/bibs/and hooded chore jacket felt pretty good.
Very interesting video Evie I. Really liked that cattle crush it must make for trimming loads easier it’s a job. That’s increased over the years what with cows giving loads more milk doing them once a month is a good thing just doing the worst ones Isn’t little Freddie coming on what a great little lad he is so interested in what’s going on. That machine is truly a great piece of kit. I've been involved in hoof work on a much smaller scale and it is not as easy as you professionals make it look.
welcome back evie/ smiley. i wondered what had happened to you lately. busy , busy , busy. thats what. beautiful mummy , badger cow and calf. mummy drinking her get well soon magic mixture. still raining, beautiful tuesday morning. the 26th. pm, flaming raining again. foot trimming, excellent job. some people will say it looks terrible. but you know if you didnt, they would suffer. the only thing they dont have is a massage. lol. you have scrubby brushes so they can stand around and have a back scrubby. ive got so used to seeing you lot on certain days , i look forward to it. so this is the first one ive seen since you went up in the world. 45 foot. lol. i got the gilet back from showtime recently. holstiens head, written plus holstiens uk, front. on the back . red and white, black and white embriodery of the cows, holstiens written underneath. ive love em. lastly, thanks to you and team smiley for somehow managing to fit everything in around what you do. youre leg. hopefully feeling a bit better. night night smiley evie and team smiley. come back soon. dont i go on. stop laughing. oh go on. just soft on cows and calves and lovely people. what a problem. lol.

i remember having to change the liners. they would perish or crack. bet they cost a fortune now, everything does. thats why i asked a while back about youre milk prices. because i presume that it all goes back into the upkeep of the farm. secondly i think you have alot of milking cows because , more is better these days. fair play to you for expanding and being able to make it work for you. thats passion. thats committment. you have loads of both.
Evie, You couldn't grab my heart faster than Mama cow and calf, Freddie, Russell, and Bella and you. May I ask why the heck there isn't a water hose immediately available for the hoof trimmer to clean off the ankles and hooves? Love the machine the hoof trimmer uses. Freddie is destined to be a cow man, just look how he moved the cows back. I replaced liners when I was milking cows in my younger days. Important job, although tedious, and I had to do all the steps myself.
@@colddiesel Growing up on the family dairy, we did our own foot work. We cleaned the hooves in a water pail in our barn, to see what the issue was more clearly and to keep manure out of the wound before we wrapped it. Today’s tape wasn’t available yet, we used duct tape. Also, using blocks is a more recent method. The exposed wound was painful enough without manure adding to the infection.
