turning over with no fire is a decent way to circulate oil prior to fire up. Sounds awesome. I added a fuel pump access panel in the hatch area, as well as a fuel filter relocate, also accessible via a panel in the hatch.

I’m not sure if the ford ECU works this way, but i figured there’s a possibility that the crank position sensor being disconnected would make the injectors not fire and i wanted to avoid dumping fuel into the engine before the first start if possible… and thank you very much

Don't know about the later computers but the EEC-IV design would initially pressurize the fuel system (Key On) and then shut off the pump if it didn't see a crank signal.

What did you use to guide you through the oil pump gears? Timing, etc.? I want do replace mine. How many miles were on your mustang?

I just did a bunch of research online in various forums and on RU-vid. My engine only has 8k miles to my knowledge otherwise i would have done some other mods/maintenance while i had it open

Seriously????? Why bother? In the mid 80s, kits came out that allowed a 385 series Ford (429/460) to be installed in Fox body cars. Last I checked, those kits are still available. Im betting either of the two 385s, with minor modifications or a 460 stroked to 514 would annihilate that Coyote.

I don’t want a 5 mpg highway motor that can’t be run hard for 30 minutes straight without breaking. Welcome to the modern age of 8k rpm V8s that aren’t shaking themselves apart yet still cost under 40k to build. Either way I’m build the car i want, feel free to build yours different

I had a 514 BBF in my 82 Mustang. Ran a big block for 25 years. I bought a 2018 Mustang GT and I put twin turbos on it. Coyotes are amazing engines. My 18 clicks off 9 second 1/4 miles and weighs 4100 pounds. I can let my 20 year old daughter drive it wherever she wants. My car with a 514 ran 9’s and was a bear to drive on the street. That’s why I took the 514 out and am coyote swapping mine. It’ll run 10’s N/A and 8’s when I supercharge or turbo it.

@@whistlenuts2564 Spot on reasoning in my book! There's definitely a time for older pushrod engines but they're far from the only answer
