But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
That E-boat bike is the best thing I've ever seen . I'm gonna look up on that e-boat bike cause if there's anything that I love and that's camping and fishing . So thank you for advertising all these wonderful inventions .
A 2 to 3 person tent can be pitched in a few minutes. Plus, weight would not exceed 3kg. With panniers you can access more terrain, take more routes. A pannier setup would also be much lighter, more maneuverable and the range would be longer. These microcampers are basically heavy and stiff pitched tents. Great concept, looks cute and cozy but it doesn't seem to compute.
I just said the same. If someone has "trouble" pitching a tent they should probably stick to motels. We use a Burley flatbed and a Travoy. No need for a bike towed Winnebago! I could see these being fun for an overnighter, but otherwise they are pretty dumb and not a good solution.
The only advantage of microcampers that I can think of is when you move from one place to another and don't want to unpack each time (i.e. set up the bed and other stuff inside a tent), but most of those still require some unpacking so I don't see the point.
@@petiteange08 Yes, good point. And the terrain is failrly flat, the places you would like to go to are relatively nearby and you have lots of time. Perhaps also a long range electric bike with access to power for recharging.
One thing I noticed was missing on all of them was a solar panel to wire into the bike to help keep it charged. With the small motors bikes have, a large panel on the camper would do a lot.
There're a lot of badly optimised things in most of these campers, including heavy shelves that could've been elastic string/net holders, poor storage choices and high centres of gravity. 100% agree on the solar panel though, a huge missing step from most of these.
The 3rd was amazing..land or water. I bet it gets hot as,hell in those things in the 103 degree summer ..but the MYPOD was my favorite. It looks safe like you could lock the doors it has a bed toilet television and you can buy that tent to make an extra room for daytime use. It even has air conditioning which is a must for the muggy south...I would totally live in a MYPOD :)
About 20 years ago I was looking to build something similar to these for myself and my little dog. E-bike prices were outrageous back then and battery technology wasn't as good as today. Sadly my little shadow crossed the Rainbow Bridge a few years back and my health went with her. My bike tripping days are over now, so all I can do is watch videos of what could've been!
Homeless people are homeless because of stupid life choices. If you give them a million dollars they would be broke again next week and would have nothing to show for it.
I think these are Great👍 Especially the last home-made one would be ideal shelter for homeless people out there, if the Govt could fund these for them🙏🏽😇
A lot of people in the US are already living like that, just carrying tents. It's really only ideal in perfect weather and places that allow overnight camping. Sadly, not too common here and doesn't solve the problem of giving the homeless an address, healthcare, or safety. Basically just a roof that moves..
A thin piece of fiberglass isn’t going to stop anybody or anything either if they have a mindset of getting in.Maybe a bulletproof camper made out of lead with a one inch steel door might help.
@@zambitiber1394 Some would others wouldn't. Some would use them, some would sell them for next to nothing, others would use them till they broke and then scrap them, still others would simply abandon them as they moved on because they are too heavy. I know this because I interact with the homeless community on nearly a daily basis. I have watched as they tossed food they got from the local soup kitchen/food bank because it was too much of a hassle to carry it back to the nearest homeless camp. Things that cost them nothing to acquire have no value to them and are quickly discarded or sold for cash.
I have some experience in living out of a small place, an airplane. A SMALL plane, and one thing I found necessary was once I had my plane sleeping bunk made up, all my gear had to be left outside, a tarp was needed in inclement weather. The Trek King looks boss, love the aero design and the construction method used.
Living in a plane sounds like fun, nice one Portneufflyer👍, it's great to learn of other people's alternative living spaces. You should write about it, I would definitely like to read about that kind of lifestyle.
Would be great if you are taking your SUV into a National Park, etc, and then biking a couple of miles into the interior. Don't forget you are going to have to portage in water and bring out your refuse.
No me conforma ver cosas de otros países quiero ver manos Argentinas ,ellos son muy inteligente ,si tuvieran su oportunida crearían bellas cosas ,quiero!! Manos Argentinas
Oh man! Someone needs to add an extra battery bank w/solar panels to wire into your electric bike turning it into 100+mile superior rig. You already hitched to the trailer so you could easily wire it in and also have brake/taillights that function!
I love bike campers. I think I have looked at every one on you tube. Just like everything else in life you have to find what's good for you. Like off roading. Touring, bikepacking the list goes on. I definitely want one. Can I manage one in a busy city and small apartment? No! If I was a little more in the suburbs then absolutely! Without a doubt. But I'm always gonna try to figure something out. Because why not?
Not the same benefit, unless you're being facetious. Many of these are trailers which carry luggage also, for example. Or these have a sturdier design. The myPod even had AC. Try and think it through a little next time ok?
Generally you can't actually go too far on an electric bike especially as you would be lugging a trailer behind you and not sure if a solar panel would be enough to charge your bike battery anyway so great idea but I really don't think so 🤔
not really, maybe first to talk to several/many Dutch people about these trailers. Many Dutch people cycle daily to school/work, much more often classic bicycles than electric ones. Many dutch people also tend to go camping for holidays, however the majority wouldn't see that much value in these things, especially not for the price points they are sold at. A tent will gave you more space, just as much insulation as most of these, and will take up a lot less space and weight in comparison. There are no real benefits to these that make sense if you would use a normal bicycle, especially when taking cost into consideration. While I can also easily fix some small damage on a bike, especially a mountainbike (the easiest type to fix imo), that won't be as easy on one of these trailers.
Oh wow! All of these are so cool! I love the amphibious one. That might have to be something we look into. We wanted to build a house boat but that might be a nicer compact one.
@@jama211 I don't know our teardrop trailer has a sleeping area less than the size of a full size mattress and we sleep on that. It doesn't look too much terribly larger than a full size mattress so could be the same size
I'm guessing you'd have to pack ur own cooler, mini BBQ and potty and stuff but prob wouldn't be nothing to store inside while your driving to ur destination then unpack it all. But then you'd have to risk theft, so a pop up shelter outside would have to be a givin 🤷, that's just my thoughts tho
I like the one that the old man was pulling behind his scooter...I could see that hooked up to my MGB...BUT, are any of these companies in Australia...?? you know, we exist as well down here and like to do these activities...
All of these are really nice and functional but how much does the one for the bicycle cost. Because I know there's a lot of homeless people out there with bicycles that could use something like this. God bless and thank you
Just WOWSERS!! I've NEVER seen anything like this! I would definitely love to have a caravan of folks getting together doing this!! And the lil boat thing in addition to it is off the charts!! Just as long as the waves are at a minimum. you're good to GO!! 🚲🛥🛣🌎🏕 Now all it needs is a built in helicopter to finish it off!! But a drone garage space will do!! LMAO!! this is awesome and fun for everyone!!
I like the Leesure-Lite one but in all honesty I'd go for a regular tent if I weren't limaxaphobic. The expense & inconvenience of a large trailer is a fairly poor trade-off for being a few inches away from slug-kind.
Yes, they look more like a urban adventure dweller kind of thing. And one could easily make up the trailer part to haul camping stuff at a fraction of the cost.
The Mini Mate Motorcycle Camper is unequalled in its design, quality, practicality and longevity! The additional awning or add a room increases versatility and many owners of small cars are finding it perfect for towing and camping with. This is THE original motorcycle camper, and its designer got it right first time! Mini Mate Motorcycle Campers hold their value and don't usually appear on the secondhand maket, but when they do, they're snapped up quickly.
This setup will definitely be great on the Pacific Coast highway hitting the ocean the beaches the campsites people bicycle at PCH one all the time on the way to Seattle back to San Diego best trip on the planet
Amazing idea not many drive a car, also gr8 for charity to kind solve thos homless giv them dignity while looking for perm housing this be great fir carapace for thoz just staying over nite.i shared this I thort it was cool.looks bigger inside.
I think these are best suited for motorbikes and tiny smart cars. Ebike ranges would drop by a lot with that much weight. And on a regular bike, I wouldn't get very far towing all that. 😅 Kudos to the people who pull it off though! PS:- Also curious to see how these hold up in the wind!
I don't quite get this. For all the additional weight you'd be lugging around on your bicycle, wouldn't it be cheaper and more efficient to install racks on the bicycle to carry all your favourite camping items and a massive tent? With an electric powered bicycle, you could even bring camping cots, camping chairs, camping tables, single burner stoves, etc with total disregard for the weight. The price tags on these mini trailers could alternatively net you an awesome heavy duty electric bicycle to carry more stuff. Not to mention, you only need spare parts for the bicycle, but if the mini trailer breaks down and you can't fix it, all your gear will be stranded. I really don't get this.
I guess it's more to how long it would take to set it all up. "no more than 3 minutes." catched my attention. I believe a massive tent would be much more time consuming.
@@elfryeorin , I'm sure the "3 mins setup time" caught a lot of people's attention, but you're missing my point entirely. For that time savings during setup, you're willing to lug that significantly extra weight around while cycling for most of the day (say 6-8 hrs)? For a casual day or two out in the country, it would still be OK, but if you try it for a week, you will soon find yourself dumping the trailer very quickly, especially if the path traveled isn't flat. There is good reason why bicycle touring and camping enthusiasts don't bring these along. WEIGHT is always a primary consideration.
That's a great idea. You might like the light weight materials this guy used: "$150 bike camper: DIY micro mobile home (downloadable plans)" It's a good design, but I would add an EM exit. Never know when a dog, angry hornet, etc., might bock your exit. And why not make a way to either exhaust the Carbon Monoxide produced by cooking with gas, or make a set-up to cook outside, even in the rain? Best of luck to you!
I just stumbled upon this one. Includes a micro boat he made for $100! I like the features of the bike trailer/micro camper at about 3 minutes in. 'Boeing retiree finds meaning inventing micro homes & high speed trikes"
I know right, I had the same reaction, for the price of 11.500 euro's I could literally buy a electric bike, a motorized boat (fun fact, could buy a boat 2 time's bigger in size than z-triton), solar panels AND STILL have some money left, also I don't see how this is practical, you can't use it on long distance's like you do with a tent (I don't think the slim tires will resist at the speed it would be under if dragged by a car) and it doesn't offer you that much more protection than a tent does, if someone wants to harm you they can just push you, and break your window, the only advantage is the high ground for those afraid that a snake might crawl into their tent 😂😂😂
