I agree with giving book time…50-70 pages and if you’re not interested, DNF it. No shame in it. Spend your time reading and enjoying what you read! You’re fabulous Ms. Morgan❤

Oh I can relate my January was a stressful as well. My friend passed away suddenly from a heart attack and my mom was sick in the hospital. Books helped me so much! I read 6 books and hope I can continue that into this month.

I'm 24 and living abroad in Denmark for the last 2.5 years which has been the greatest experience but also the loneliest at times because it's really hard to make friends sometimes. Tonight was one of those nights where I just missed having my close friends right near me and I just had to cry about it. Then I watched this video and it made me feel so much better and brought me a lot of comfort. It reminded me that I can still find joy in things like my books and that my friends are always a phone call away 💝 Thanks for making such a lovely video and I'm rooting for 100K for you!

I'm a very slow reader and always thought I hated books in school until I discovered fantasy fiction! I also love listening to audiobooks - goes way faster and I love how the narrators bring them to life.

great reading month for you! I also had a high # of reads for January ( 9 books - 1 DNF ), which is very unusual with working full time! Sorry to hear about your severe weather in January - we too had some significant damage to the whole coast of our state ( Maine ), back to back damaging storms earlier in the month. Your speaking of losing power to your home for 6 days took me back to 1998 when we went thru a significant ice storm ( in January ) and we too had lost power for 2 weeks - my husband and I had to move into my parents home with a 2 1/2 yr old, so we were a bit out of sorts ( and unknown to me I was pregnant with my daughter 🙃 ). hope February is a bit calmer for you - sending good thoughts! My 13 year old daughter reads while we’re grocery shopping. She holds on to me or the cart with one hand and reads with the other. She’s always behind me so she’s not in any one’s way. I don’t know how she does it but I’m not complaining

one of my fav books from last year was "wide sargasso sea" by jean rhys, which is an imagined prequel for the wife in the attic in jane eyre! i highly recommend it 🥰

Ack! I can't believe I missed this vlog! 12 days ago?? What in the world was I doing that was that important that I didn't know you put a video out?? LOL! Oh well, at least I'm seeing it now and that's what counts! LOVE your red shoes! I also loved the postcard and sticker for February that I received last week. I love all of them, truly, but the house sticker reminded me of how I used to always draw houses- peaked roof, windows all the same with lines to make panes, chimney on one side of the roof. Adorable! I think this winter has brought me more time to read and I've read 4 books so far this year. after a month of extremely hot summer (think over 100°F), being locked inside my home, feeling very isolated from the world, watching your new video gave back me a feeling of joy for the simple things, reading! going to a café! learning a new thing! wearing colourful items! (your video and the it finally got a bit cooler and it's raining softly and I'm alive again). I can't wait for autumn so I can have my Meg Ryan life back ;) I had no idea about the winter storm in Oregon. We had a summer thunder windy storm in mid december, and it wrecked several cities and homes in my area. It's heartbreaking. I am so glad you were able to find shelter at a friends' house. And very happy you're back making videos! yay! x

I read like 2 books in January, including an annotated reread of one of my fave books. It inspired me to come up with bakery ideas and themed gift box woth the book for my sister. As much as I love reading and have so many on my TBR, lately I just seem to enjoy a slow, leisurely reading pace. A reading date sounds heavenly.

Missed you so much! Your videos are such joy and light and whimsy! It'd been a crazy January in our state too, we dropped to😢 negative degrees but thankfully never lost power! How stressful that absolutely had to be! The hardest thing I have had to face this year already was receiving my late grandmother's furniture. She died 4 years ago this May. She was my very dearest family member as she was my escape from my abusive parents even when she lived with us. She was my strength in my childhood and my best friend in my adulthood. Having her furniture is bittersweet. It weirdly confirms her absence and it has become immensely difficult again as my grief for her has renewed. She also taught me to love reading, and she always had a book in her purse! ❤

There's just something about red shoes. I have a pair of red heels and I feel like dancing when I put them on. I like to go to the bookstore, have a special coffee, and read. I can read at home, but I like being surrounded by people. Read The Unmaking Of June Farrow. I was so mesmerized that I stayed up all night to finish it. .Fourth Wing was my favorite book of 2023.

Hey Morgan, it was so lovely seeing your friendly face again. Happy to hear you all are back safely in your house, it is scary how much impact weather can have on one's home and safety. In regards to books! I love Jane Eyre, for al the reasons you mentioned! I love how she just knows herself and despite of everything, she cannot compromise her character. I read that book the first time in my first year of University and I was just inspired to be like Jane. The dialogue is also so witty and funny!
