Hi all! This week was pretty “average” and I didn’t go out/do any exciting things, but I knit a lot! I still hope you enjoy me talking about my WIPS (and a couple of FOs) anyways! Thank you for sticking around, and I hope you’re all having a great January so far!

Your videos are never boring! It’s like sitting down with a friend and chatting. Don’t change anything! Jinny - 🇬🇧

I like this format, but I’ve only been watching since December. I think breaking things up so it’s manageable for you is a good idea. I was an exchange student in Japan several years ago, in Hikone, so seeing the scenes you’re able to include brings back happy memories of my time there. I also like hearing you say, “oh, I shouldn’t cast this on” in one episode and then you’re halfway done in the next one. 🤣

Your format isn't boring at all. Its a little different every time and that's been pleasant and interesting. And don't worry, a lot of us CO like every week too. Its a good way to see if something will capture our interest and helps with refocusing. Sweet little baby belly 🥰 take care!

Your podcast is anything but boring, I always enjoy it very much. I love your project picks and you may have actually inspired me to try a Penguano! I've always been resistant to try Stephen West patterns because of the busyness, but I do love the shape of that cardigan. Also, your new format is nice, we can see WIP progression in one episode! Take care and thank you 😊

I really enjoy your podcast, whichever format it is. Everything you make is beautiful and I am so excited to continue to watch your progress with the Penguono. I am going to sort my scraps and who knows… I might secretely join you on that little journey❤️ I also love how you are not in a hurry with your knits, I think it is an important reminder to all of us knitters - to enjoy the progress and not to be too focused on the end product.

Hi Mel! It's nice to see and knit with you again! I do like the check in format, especially if it's easier on you cause it is important that you actually enjoy doing this. Also, before I forget, idk if you've heard of The Magnus Archives but it's an eldritch horror type of a podcast and I think you would really enjoy it!

Love your videos, Mel :) The new format is great in how it shows the progress of each project; I find it relatable as well as motivating! I'd love to hear more about that frogging, though!! I have a box of "should I/shouldn't I frog it" projects just waiting for me... I'd like to hear your thoughts on how you decided what to frog and what you might repurpose the yarn for.

I don't have a big stash collection just yet since I've only started knitting again last year but I can't wait to do the Penguono when I can! It's so unique!

I like this format Mel! I enjoyed seeing how you prepped for the Penguono project. I think it's really smart curating your colour palette ahead of time for a more cohesive finished project. I think it will be really wearable in this colour scheme.

Hi Mel, really enjoyed seeing all your knits and am loving how your penguono is coming along, I have thought about making one on and off and like your approach to gathering the colours. It is also so nice to see snippets of your everyday life in Japan, just had to go over your meal in Osaka with my daughter a couple times!

I love you DAA cardigan!! It’s so inspirational 🤩 I’m going to make a similar version! Don’t worry about your episodes being boring!! Not at all!! I love the slow gentle pace you’ve created ❤️ I’d love a little more Japanese cultural content. I’m curious about how you and your husband settled into living abroad. For example, what do you love, what do you miss, what is/was challenging? What’s the knitting culture like? Not to be answered now, but as you wish ❤️❤️❤️

People often complain that colorwork bunches up since the tension is trickier than plain stockinette. Does using a heavier weight yarn as CC in Chalet Days help the yoke to spread out and lie smoother?
@MelanieAsato
@MelanieAsato 2 года назад
Good question! From my experience, it honestly doesn't really help with bunching and more so only helps with helping the CC "pop" against the background color!

Hi, why did you frog the sweaters? There was one from your own pattern thats on my list to knit soon. Is it about the pattern fit? Just curious. Have a nice day! Thank you for your nice video's, i love to watch!!
@MelanieAsato
@MelanieAsato 2 года назад
Thanks for watching! And this prototype was nowhere near the fit that I got in my actual pattern so don’t worry! It was mostly a “prototype” so that I could figure out the stitch pattern/how I want to do my inc/dec for the actual pattern, but I just made this one way too big 😆 the photos on the pattern page is definitely the accurate representation of the actual pattern!
