In case we don't see you online before giving birth, I want to wish you all the best for your delivery - and I hope that you will enjoy your 5day stay at the hospital. Very likely with some rush of hormones but hopefully also with some rare, quiet moments of comfort knitting. Looking forward to future episodes in whatever format... it is always inspiring to see what you are making and what yarn/texture choices you make. Don't worry if there will be long intervals... I think everyone will understand. Sending my love and encouragement for your new role in life:)
Hiya 🦋 Your son is almost with you. It's tough to get through the 3rd trimester. Thanks for posting. The baby vest is so special and I can't wait o see the finished collar. Your finished ochre, (textured) test k it is so beautiful in every way. My favourite make by far is the beautiful quilt. So carefully chosen with a beautiful name to match your son's homecoming. That's an heirloom. I like the fact that you'll be in hospital for 5 days on confinement as it means that you'll be taught the necessary basics about the needs of your new baby. If you get time to knit, that would be great too. Rest often and take care. 😊
Hi !! I am definitely a knitter - but I quilt also - and wanted to tell you that I think your first baby quilt is absolutely lovely !! I love the precious look of the quilting stitches. May you have an easy time bringing your son into the world - look forward to seeing you again after .... Hugs from way over here in Rhode Island, USA !!
Thanks for a cozy episode on a Sunday afternoon. I just recently found your channel and have been watching current episodes as they come and then going back in time to older episodes. So enjoyable! Thank you. Your biggest priorities right now have got to be your baby, your family, and yourself right now. Don’t worry about us, we’ll be here whenever you can make a video. Please take care of yourself and your family. Wishing you all the very best. Savor this time - it is the most precious time of all. Salam wa sa’aadah
Nice to catch up whatever the way- vloggy or traditional format- and I’m sure we are all happy to wait longer between episodes, because Baby Boy is priority #1 🤗
Wonderful episode, I'm really loving low-contrast colorwork lately, yours is beautiful! Hoping for a really wonderful + safe birth experience for you and the baby!
Mel, thank you for another lovely podcast. Such a peaceful, calming voice these days. Your wips, first quilt- so profesh! You must be so excited for baby boy. Please take good care of yourself. Relax when you can. Oh, I'm knitting an Anne Ventzel Sailor Sweater so I too will have a stripe-y top. 😊 👶🧶
How funny, I knit my baby boy just born in February a sweater in marzipan and deep petroleum blue as well!! Not that pattern though. It’ll be so cute, Happy knitting! 💙 I was finally able and had enough energy to pick up my knitting again 3 weeks postpartum, which was sooner than I had anticipated!
Hi Mel, the quilt looks really good, and the cardigan is beautiful. I am making tiny baby socks, so easy and adorable, the Peerie weerie booties by Carrie Bostick Hoge, so quick and cute! I want to start sewing soon, been naturally dying as of late. Take care, and smooth sailing with the birth of your son! All the best and I hope we will get to hear his name and have a quick sneak peek of him.if not I totally get it, all the best from B.C. ,Canada.
Love your podcast and seeing what you’ve been working on. I definitely am starting my first quilt after watching how yours is turning out. It’s beautiful! Well wishes to you and your little family!
Your hand quilting on the quilt is beautiful! Such nice work. The binding is easy. I like to do right side Togo’s the front and then machine sew and turn under and hand sew on the back. Look on you tube. The textured sweater is lovely as I’d the baby vest. Happy mothering!☺️
The cardigan turned out amazing! For me this piece would for sure turn into a never ending UFO.. 😂🙈. But I guess as a test knit there would be enough pressure to finish it 🤔. Happy making 😊! Clara
Loved this podcast, but honestly any form of podcast that you're most comfortable making is great! They offer such a neat insight into your work process
Just make whatever style vlog/podcast you can manage, I'm sure we'll all be happy with that given the impending momentous life changes youre experiencing. I'm currently knitting the Nightly sweater, a pattern I highly recommend, take a look if you don't know it. I'm using some Nutiden unspun for the first time, was lucky to score in a local destash from a tight knitter - I'm a loose knitter so am managing two strands at a very loose gauge quite well. The loose gauge is the only way I could wear Nutiden even in a Sydney winter. The colour is an elegant cool pink called Villgott; needless to say I'm pretty excited. All the best for the rest of your pregnancy, take it easy and knit what makes you happy. Looking forward to meeting Baby Boy! xx
Mel~! My order arrived on Friday. I'm so so so thrilled with the yokai sets I got. They are just stunning. I'm so torn decided what I want to make with them since they are so precious to me! I just keep holding them clutched together like a bouquet of flowers. With the podcasts in the future, of course we hope to hear from you, but you and baby are priority number one. Take your time and don't let this podcast be any kind of burden to you!
Hey Mel! Loved this episode :) so excited for you and your little family! I’ve also been interested in quilting - how are you finding the process as a beginner? Looks beautiful
Thank you Bethany! And I found quilting requires a lot more precision/measuring/math than I realized (also esp since all the patterns/tutorials are in imperial vs metric lol) but is intuitive once you get the hang of it! Also I really love hand quilting - it's kind of like knitting where you can get into the groove of it and lose yourself in it after a bit!
I've just completed my first pair ever of socks using DPNs and I'd love to try making tube socks next. Your's look so pretty! Also have a simple yoke sweater on the go but I'm super tempted to start some spring/supper tops (got the cumulus tee pattern by PetiteKnit). Please take it easy with the videos, I'd watch whatever format!
Hi, thank you for your podcast. Can you help me because I’ll want to buy Loimu cardigan’s pattern in english. I don’t find it but it’s so beautiful…Thank you Dominique
...right now I am working on the Mare shawl in Shetland wool and No Frills sweater (navy blue mohair+Mondim multicoloured). You can check it out on my Insta where my name is Helgafell.
