You are so right, Cindy. I guess I misread because I highlighted a quote (from page 246 in my Kindle) that said "But now, at the age of thirteen, my excuses were running out." Maybe that was from a flashback? 🤷🏾♀️ But thank you for this comment because I understand the timeline now. 😊
Order of the Phoenix is my favorite HP book and movie. Girl, that book look heavy. I want to read an illustrated one now. I read them back when they came out. The pictures look so good. Love your videos. So kind hearted and love how you explain books. Take care Nakia!!
Awww thank you so much @tammiegopson8870 ! That's so sweet of you. 🤗🥰 I can't wait to watch The Order of the Phoenix movie... though I'm not looking forward to the ending. 🙈
Thank you for adding children's books in your wrap up. I finally read The Housemaid by Frieda McFadden and loved it! Read it in one night. Five stars! 🌧️
Oh, my pleasure! So happy you are enjoying hearing about the children's books I am reading. I'm sure most people skip that section. 🤭 And yay glad you enjoyed The Housemaid! Book 2 is good also. 😊 Thanks so much @rebekahmackenzie ! 🤗🌧
Arthur....bless. So cute. 🖤 Loved to see how excited you are about Harry Potter 🤧🤧 So happy for you. I also started the year with some 5 star reads. Here is to making better reading choices this year 😅
😄😄😄 I'm still surprised myself by how much I'm enjoying Harry Potter. I never would've imagined it. And as of today I'm still searching for another 5 star read. 😭
@@NakiasHideaway I think I have been making better decisions this year. A couple not so great but in general I am reading more things I enjoy. Guess it comes with time and experience 😅😅
Oh yay, Venus! Can't wait to watch your video review too! 😊 And I'm still shocked that I'm so into Harry Potter and only have two books left in the series. Who am I?! 🤭⚡🧹
Now I kinda want to reread some Harry Potter... I once heard a very disturbing thing on the radio that scarred me. I stopped listening to that station for the longest time because I couldn't get the story out of my mind. So I totally get what you mean. Great video!
🌦☔The Ascent definitely sounds way too hardcore for me 😅 but I LOVE that he did so much research before publishing! One of my favorite reads of the year was Jackal by Erin E. Adams!
Rosie, I would've said the same thing about The Ascent if I heard someone else talk about it so I get it lol. So glad you enjoyed Jackal! 😊 And let's hope more great reads are ahead for us this year... there better be. 😁 Thanks so much, Rosie! 🤗🌧☔
So glad you're enjoying Harry Potter!! I agree about Order of the Phoenix being a bit slowly paced and a bit too long, but it has such an explosive opening and final act that it kind of makes up for it. Hagrid is probably my favorite character and I also really like Professor Mcgonagall as well 😁 I would love to see you do a ranking of the books whenever you're finished with them! I would like to do the same but they're all close to the same rating for me (around 4⭐) that it will be difficult to decide between them 😬 I plan on starting Half Blood Prince very soon here. The last 2 books aren't as long as Order of the Phoenix so hopefully they won't be as padded.
Exactly, Austin! We definitely agree on the opening and final acts of Order of the Phoenix. So good! And I would still like to see you do a ranking. I rated them all similarly too so I get it. 😁 Will be looking forward to seeing your reviews of the last two books. 😊
Aww Angela Johnson! She has another children's book "Tell Me a Story Mama" that I read non-stop as a kid. A mom is putting her kid to bed and the kid is asking for stories from the mom's childhood. It's so sweet. Possibly a different illustrator but also really nice pictures.
☔⛈️ im the same way with books!! If i see or hear something off, it sits with me for days; my spirit is disturbed. But i can read something and be overall unphased, lol.
☔️🌧️ it’s rainy here today ☺️. Long time! I’m catching up on watching RU-vid videos. 😊 Omg Do Like Kyla was my BOOK back in the day. 🙌🏾 Your DNF had such a fun premise. Sorry you didn’t gel with it. Umbridge is terrible. She is a piece of work. The actor that played her did a great job. Grawp. 😂 I want to know your reaction when you finally see him. Placing a library hold for The Ascent. Don’t tell the rest of the books on my TBR. 🤫
We just had some more rain too, Jaleesa. 🌧 Did you enjoy or are you over it lol? And that's so cool that you used to read Do Like Kayla! I love it! Can't wait to see all of the actors that play the characters I've been reading about for so long in these Harry Potter books. Hope you enjoy The Ascent as much as I did! Happy reading! 📚☕
I was over the rain at that point. It starts to flood quickly over here. I got some good naps in though. 🙂 Fingers are crossed for The Ascent and that the HP movies meet your expectations.@@NakiasHideaway
It's so much fun watching you read HP for the first time. I now have to immediately dust off my copy and re- read book 5 (I think Harry is 15 by year 5 since he was 11 in year 1, no?). Have you tried the audio books with Jim Dale (American) or Stephen Fry (British version)? They really pull you into the stories. I can't choose between them. Please do rank them when you're done! My heart is already a little broken since Azkaban isn't already your #1 lol but I'm looking forward to it:) JK Rowling (as Robert Galbraith) has also has written really good, really creepy, really dark mystery books for adults. Her characters in the Cormoran Strike series remind me of gritty adult versions of Harry and Hermione. It's also a UK TV series. I can't wait for the new HBO HP series! The movies were never long enough to do each book and character justice.
Yeah, I had another subscriber comment and let me know that Harry is 15 in book. Oops! I did highlight a quote though that said "But now, at the age of thirteen, my excuses were running out." So now I have to go back and look to see who said that. 👀 And yes I love the audiobooks narrated by Jim Dale! I always listen in tandem with the books. 😊 I'll have to check out this creepy, dark mystery series now. Thank you for letting me know!
Wait, Missouri town? Dang it… I’m a sucker for settings from my home state. Adding The Ascent to my way-too-long list of books to read! I had to skip ahead to the spoiler free part for Harry Potter because I just started reading it for the first time too! I’m also reading the illustrated versions and love them, but you’re right-they’re HEAVY! 😅 Great video! 🎉
Oh I love this @Laura_Reads ! You should definitely enjoy The Ascent then. 😊 And yay another first time Harry Potter reader! Are you enjoying it so far? Which book are you on?
@@NakiasHideaway I’ve only read the first Harry Potter so far but I loved it! I don’t usually enjoy fantasy but J.K. Rowling’s writing makes it feel so easy. She blends the world-building into the plot and dialogue so effortlessly. I just bought the second one and can’t wait to get to it!
🌧 Fab vid as always. I've had 2 x 5 star books this year but they are both in a series, so I just recommend the whole series; Holly by Stephen King and Lethal Vengeance by Robert Bryndza. Not sure if your cup of tea - my fave thriller so far is The Murder After the Night Before by Katy Brent 💜
So I was going to try and brave The Ascent, but assault AND something with a dog!?! Nope, can't do it haha. Looks like I'll be checking out the children's books!
You already read Molly 2! I hope you don’t give too much away 🙉 I am so excited to read it this summer. Update: Oh nooooo! I wanted more of Molly. Sounds like it is going to be a let down for me as well.
You will get plenty of Molly @CookieCoCo_OG but not in the same way that we got her in book 2. You should still give it a try and see if you like it. 😉
'The Ascent' is so good. One of the best books I've read this year. If you enjoyed this one, I think you'd enjoy 'The Spy Coast' by Tess Gerritsen. It has a different vibe to it but it keeps you on the edge of your seat.
My Order of the Phoenix paperback is over 900 pages!!! 😅 I'm not gonna lie, this book made me stop reading HP for a bit. It was just sooooo long to me. It just kept going and going 🤣 I still haven't read the last two, and it's been months. I do agree with you that the opening was amazing. I'm so sad you received spoilers!!
Me too, Rosie! 🙈🙉 And I get it. Like I said I had to take an intermission between the first half and the second half. So yeah it could've been a little shorter. 😳
@@NakiasHideaway it’s interesting that the 5th movie is one of the shortest ones🤔 almost as though the screenwriters agreed that the book was unnecessarily long 😅
Hey Nakia, I attempted to gift you a small donation and my bank sent me email and declined based on suspicions card activity (tsk tsk tsk) I will call them in the morning. Sorry for any inconvenience. I always enjoy your videos 😊!
Oh my goodness no need to apologize @Selinalinaly . I hope everything works out okay with your bank. I know how those things can be a pain. But looks like your donation went through on my end so hopefully that's a good sign for your bank account. 😉 Thank you so much though! I truly appreciate it. Huge hug! 🤗🖤
