Tommy is a full-time nomad comfortably living on just $1,200 from Social Security. His home is a Bigfoot camper that he got for free, ingeniously perched on top of a 1999 Chevy HD flatbed truck, which he got for super cheap as well! Tommy has mastered the art of frugal and sustainable living on the road, even in colder climates. What makes his RV setup truly unique is the Marine Woodstove he's installed, a vital component for staying cozy and warm in chilly weather.

Dickinson, the manufacturer of that stove, also makes propane fireplaces that have much smaller clearances. They come complete (heater, stove pipe, stainless mounting plate, chimney cap). The propane units have a double chimney that brings outside air into the sealed fireplace so they don't use inside air and they don't put moisture into the space they are heating. I have had one for over 15 years and there has been zero maintenance.

Hahahaha you noticed my stuffed puppet bat :-) There is a long interesting story behind that Bat. Maybe I share that story some other time..... It's a tiny superlight fiberglass canoe I can pull up to the roof of the camper with a rope. Its powered by a tiny trowling motor and a 50ah lithium battery. I charge it with the camper solar system. I love to explore shorelines :-) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8FCLmET1QT8.html

@Tommyjamesrb
@Tommyjamesrb 10 месяцев назад
I store the extra bottle of propane there. Everything propane runs off the campers propane cabinet. I only use the ac a few weeks a year in the north country. I remove the stored propane bottle before I fire up the generator and AC. I mostly just undo the cam quick tie down strap on the generator and chain it to a tree or something big and strong so it doesn't grow legs at 3 am in the morning. But I have used in were its racket strapped down if I feel its not in a safe area. I am sure a better idea will pop up and I will change that setup. This project is on going it will never be done. :-)

Man woman or child no matter. Your never to old to learn how to fix things. The secret is start with simple repairs and look and learn how it works. Then figure what part broke and figure out how to fix that part. RU-vid is amazing with self repair videos. I find it hard to own something like a RV type vehicle and have to find someone each time I break something. Just the cost along for labor is a heck of a motivator. Start with baby steps and you will find others with skills are happy to teach. Next thing you know your helping someone else :-)
