I was surprisingly able to capture CP #2816 aka the Empress leading the Final Spike on its journey to Mexico City in Mexico! As soon as I got that notification saying that it’s nearby just as I finished work, I booked out to the west side of O’hare within minutes to spare! And it’s not everyday you see a steam excursion without a modern day diesel engine assisting. Instead, it had a pair of FP9A streamliners trailing.
