If it weren't for the Bahia Grass, I would only need to mow my grass every two weeks. Instead, I am lucky to make it one week (if it rains, no such luck). This stuff is EVERYWHERE in my yard. I took over my lawn care August 2017. The business I was using was not doing it right. I took a soil sample and found out all the lime they put down was wrong because my pH was already higher than recommended for bermuda. I missed the fall pre-emergent app and as a result ended up with insane amounts of poa in early spring 2018. But I got the spring pre-emerg app down to prevent crab (I used prodiamine). I also bought me some Celsius for post-emerg control. I've used that a couple times on random weeds that I cannot identify 100%. Overall, I've had great success. I read the "Bermuda Bible" and I've been religiously maintaining my lawn. I cut minimum twice a week (usually every 3rd or 4th day). I water once a week heavily to get a good deep soaking into the ground. My lawn now looks insanely good. Best lawn in the neighborhood I think. Even better than all the folks using lawn care businesses.

Very informative. Now I know what the majority of my yard is. Lol I have quite a bit of Bermuda, just the old wild stuff but it looks good where it dominates the yard. Trying to figure out how to get the Bermuda to take over the rest of the yard. This helps as the Bahaia is the only one I recognized.

I have a hodgepodge of grass and weeds in my yard. It is a rental that has never been properly taken care of. I bit the bullet and allowed my backyard to grow for 10 days without mowing to see if I could identify what I have and make a plan of attack. Your videos have allowed me to properly identify the culprits. I’m in central texas and I was confusing Dallas and crab, but no more! It’s about 50/50 Dallas and hairy crabgrass with all of the other weeds you have in other videos….plus a few extra. Lucky me. St. Augustine is the grass of choice here (I personally prefer zoysia or Bermuda), so 1/4 of the yard is St. Augustine, 1/8 Bermuda…which I over-seeded with this spring (because it is easy to buy) but is apparently a dwarf variety, and the rest is a hot mess! I’m going to take your suggestions and attack the crab grass now and also use a post emergent in the fall and spring and I’ll do the glyphosate treatment when the Bermuda is dormant. Luckily, the St. Augustine area is so thick, no weeds have invaded it so I’ll make sure I don’t get any overspray on that area. Thank you again for your expertise and just FYI, identifying by seed heads was worth the wait so thank you for sharing! Oh lastly, it does pay to know what you are doing…the Dallas and crab grasses LOVED the weed & Feed I put down this year! They have thrived…ugh!

Thanks for a very helpful video. I now know I have Bahia and Carpet Grass mostly with some Crab Grass. I've used a Scott's product called Halt for Crab Grass on Centerpede and it worked well. It's a took two growing seasons to rid the backyard. I have another weed I have not been able to identify. Would you like to see a picture. Thanks again for your help.

Great video. Your videos are the only ones that I have seen that actually get down and show close ups of the different grasses and weeds. Thanks for the identification. Could you possible do a video on nimbelwell grass.. I think I have some in my yard. It looks like my Bermuda but has wider blades. It appears to grow in clumps. It is growing everywhere. In the sun, shade,compacted soil, I wouldn't mind it but it a darker green than my Bermuda and stands out. Any help would be appreciated. From olive branch MS.

My lawn care guy is about to use Celsius on my centipede to treat nasty bahiagrass. Should he be using MSM turf instead? Thank you so much for making this video. I had tried Tenacity a few times last year when I thought my Bahiagrass was crabgrass. It turned it white but it always came back with a vengeance. I’m hoping that the Celsius will work!

Just got done using MSMA on my yard in northeast MS. Sprayed at 1 oz. Per 1,000 sq ft. 3 days ago. It is performing great. What type of fertilizer and what strength and how long should I wait to apply to my Bermuda yard? I have 1.5 acres and 0 trees. It's mid FEB in SOCAL and notice batches of crabgrass and dallisgrass.in a 3X5 area in my front yard. In the process of using Prodiamine, but everything I've researched about dallisgrass is to did them up. If thats the case, I'll still spray down prodiamine and and in April place top soil in the patchy spots, overseed, fertilize and try to get it under control by next year and prevent any future growing. I have a mix of Bermuda and St. Augustine grass.

Learned alot. I have a lot of dallisgrass in my Bermuda lawn. I live in Georgia Atlanta area. I take turns pulling out my dallisgrass whenever it ratings and the soil softens up. They are my arch enemy. Tip/suggestion...wouldve nice to have the weed stalks places against a black background, the concrete made it very very hard to see. Thanks.

Bahia Grass has gotten into my Centipedegrass bad this year. Thought I knew the grass on sight but when I viewed one of your other vids I saw different from the grass in my yard. Is Dallas grass the one that produces sand spurs? I just purchased a house 2 years ago and thought I beat it, I missed a mow last week and they where everywhere man. The leaves looked most similar to Dallas or carpet grass but I can’t be sure

Also i was wondering in your video i see alot of the same weed we have here but i dont know what it is. It is that spiney leaved weed that grows in thick patches and covers up and kills the grass. When you pull it up you get huge sections all connected together, what is the name of that weed, some kind of clover or what?

Am I naive? What is so bad about crab grass, bahai grass, or dallisgrass? Isn't the point to have a luscious green lawn? I am just now learning how to identify these things. I just thought the previous owner of my house was experimental and planted lots of variety of grass. I personally think my lawn is beautiful. I have all of these weeds in abundance.
