Made this and I was just floored. It's fantastic. My tweak: toast the pecans until just fragrant on a medium hot skillet before adding them to the batter.
Bunkeys! Got some little tweaks for you when making this fabulous cake! My recipe calls for you to poke holes (I use a long wooden skewer) all over the top of the cake before you pour the glaze on. It really helps to get the glaze to sink down into the cake better and more thoroughly. My recipe for the glaze also calls for a tsp. of vanilla and since I love vanilla, I would hate to leave it out. I serve this rich cake with a dollop of whipped cream - heaven! BTW, adding chopped pecans ID absolutely inspired and I wish I would have thought of it! Will add them from now on! I see that you didn't have any trouble turning your cake out of the pan, but I've occasionally had a little trouble getting my cake to release from the pan until I used that baking spray (Baker's Secret) instead of just the oil. Then I can be sure I'll have no unhappy surprises - especially if I'm taking it somewhere! Another tip for people who sadly (ha) don't drink wine, you can purchase those little airline bottles of wine at the liquor store which is usually just the right amount for a recipe!
Sadly where I live there is no store even remotely close to me that carries those little bottles of wine. I'd hate to spend the money on a big bottle just to dump the remaining 😢
@@RedBirds2 drink the remaining wine! if you don't really like wine, try mixing it with tonic water. i dilute wine with tonic all the time (1/2 of each) for my sister who has Alzheimer's and a drinking 'problem.' or, as @kelliw5312 suggested, try white grape juice.
I made the cake!! It is sooooo good! I couldn't get a pic of it because is was gone before I could grab my phone or camera!!! It's been 2 days and my dad wants another one. He said it was the best cake he's ever ate in his life!! That is saying something because he has ate some CAKE in his 66 years!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Guuuurl! Now I’ll need to make this too 🥴 You two have me marinating chicken in HM/Italian dressing, using HVR seasoning, using my crockpot more, shopping at HL-where I bought my first ever tiered tray-TJM, Kirklands, Homegoods....I even put out my fall decor YESTERDAY 😬 Now my husband is talking about joining Sams Club again 😜 I’m no spring chicken, I’m 66 years young, and you’ve both brought me so much joy with your ideas and zest for life! Blessings to you both! BTW-Love your TShirt. I used to watch SBTB with my (now 40 yr old) kids 😉
Made this cake last night with prosecco (all I had on hand) and added the pecans, and in a flat rectangular cake pan (dont have a bundt). I dug in while still hot but had a piece today after cooling overnight-so good! Thanks for sharing this one!! :)
I have made this cake so many times. I agree with you all, best cake I have ever made,or eaten. Thank you for sharing your goodness. Enjoy!! Becky from NC
I'm a part-time baker at a country club! I'm always looking for quick and delicious recipes to make at work! I'm definitely marking this! Thanks for sharing!
I love how y’all are huge foodies. Can’t wait to try this Crack Cake. I know it must be delicious because I know Ms. “B” isn’t a sweet tooth person and she is literally drooling 🤤 over this cake. Love to you both❣️
I was coming back to find this recipe because my family LOVES it and I was thinking..... I wonder how good it would be good with a chocolate cake mix and chocolate pudding.... 🤯🤯🤯
My grandma makes a cake similar to this and adds coconut!! It's so darn good. I love it with a big fat dollop of whipped cream on top...now I'm gonna have to go get crap at the store to make this tomorrow 😂😂😂 Love your videos girl! I could listen to you all day ♥ Have a great day!! xoxoxo Also, stab it with a skewer all over before you pour the butter on! It'll sink it better ♥ That was my favorite part when I used to make poke cakes with my grandma :)
This looks like one of those can’t stop eating, just keep going back with the fork so you don’t feel guilty getting a whole slice until it’s eventually gone cakes! 🤣🤪
I actually ended up watching the whole video over again...you two are just so adorable!! Can I just tell you...your husband is the absolute cutest...I mean that in the most respectful way...lol! He’s just precious!!
We tried it and it is delicious. My Mom makes that same cake but with Rum. And it can be the cheapest one,it works fine . But she grind them or chops them small. You put the nuts in the bottom of the pan after you have spayed it. She uses walnuts or pecans. I always cut off the top of it. It drives her nuts, LOL it the most requested all year long
I’m just going to say right now, before I even watch this, that “Bake With The Bunks” is pure awesomeness. ...I’m not promising that I won’t comment again....
Yum! I always get so hungry when I watch ya’lls videos! Luckily I had some donuts in the house to tide me over til I can make this delicious looking cake!! ❤️ love ya’ll!!!
This looks so delicious ! I saw a recipe where you can use rum in place of the wine ! That sounds awesome too !!! Love you guys, Emily from Gibsonville NC
It’s so interesting watching baking in America. I’ve noticed a lot of people using cake mix from a box. Seems like the most common thing where as in Sweden, where I live I haven’t even seen a cake mix being used like ever. Not sure if they even exist?!🙈😅 It would be the weirdest thing mostly all over Europe as well. Need to try the recipe!! But need to make it work without box cake or pudding mix...we’re not big on box pudding/jello over here either 😆. Thanks for all the amazing content you put out there. So much inspo! ❤️
You can totally do this! The box mix is really just all the dry ingredients pre-packed (flour, sugar, baking soda) which make 2 15 cm/ 6 inch round cakes if that helps for size. You can make your own "instant pudding" with 1 cup sugar, 3/4 cup milk powder, 3/4 cornstarch (you might think of it as cornflour) and vanilla. I think you would need the "pudding" to account for the wine and to give it the right mouthfeel.
Cooking this crack cake today. We don't drink and I'm not buying a bottle of wine just for a cup. Soooo I left it out. I'm sure it will still be good. Thank you for the recipe!
I will be making that this weekend!!! BTW the baked tomato recipe was a hit with my entire family! My dad has asked for them again!!! Thanks for sharing!
My mom and I have been making a white wine cake for years! Very similar to this recipe. My brother dubbed it “the devil’s brew” cake 😂 so that’s what we have been calling it for 20 years! So yummy!!
