ah good idea lol.... Im used to that magic tap that splits hard plastic. I havent found a proper fan size though. I was researching to find one but they stopped using the 2 Oreck I have so I shelved the project for now
I replaced our housing about a year ago because the fan was cracked. Wife said she vacuumed up "something" and it started making a horrible noise. Last week she did it again and I just tore our Magnesium apart and found another cracked fan. These fans don't hold up to anything. I'm wondering if I could pop out the fan and take it to a buddy that has a CNC machine and have him make a fan that will hold up to whatever my wife is trying to vacuum up - probably coins or other metal items.
The fan is pretty bulky. I think its just a bad design. These ones I repair get used daily for hours, the fins on the fan are worn. so you know everything coming thru hits the fan. a metal fan would need bulk too. I imagine eventually with a metal one it would crack the tube lol.
I'm wondering if this is the issue with the one I picked up. Doesn't seem to vacuum very well. Without taking the vacuum apart, was there any noticeable sign or sound to this fan being cracked?
Were you able to get it to work? Pulled one out of the trash and that was the issue. Just curious if it's worth trying to crack open and replace. Thanks.
It's a highend vacuum with like a 5 year warranty. I should have done warranty but thats not how I roll... I just bought the assembly as I couldnt find a fan. amazon fan housing: amzn.to/3adnfoz i replace it in this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DDqJAy-X2xE.html
