God, this game was such a treat. I haven’t had quite as big a mystery-solving dopamine hit in a long time when I figured out Lazarus’s identity in the final chapter. Great vid, hope it spreads the word of the game some more!
I beat this game a few days ago. Would have done it in one sitting if I didn't have to go to bed since I was so intrigued by the twists and turns. I love how clever the clues are and those AHA! moments when putting two and two together are exactly what I want in a mystery game. My only critique is they can get cheeky with some of the solutions (I agree with your thoughts on Scenario 9. It makes sense with hindsight, but in the moment it can feel overcomplicated). I'm fine with these 20-30 minute videos for games that don't require a super deep dive. I have mixed feeling towards longform videos in general, since when they're good they're really good, but when they're bad they're just a bloated slog. This was a good video length for this type of game.
Just finished this via Netflix on an iPhone…the layout on a PC with all the thinking layouts on one screen is a nice touch. Definitely gonna play the sequel on PS5 with a mouse but the touch screen option worked well, just in a smaller form factor.
I'd love to be able to play this game but felt so dumb when I played the demo, same goes for Return of the Obra Dinn. I know both are incredible games, I'm just too dumb to be able to figure shit out lol
eh i kinda watched some guy play through the entire game so odds are i will never play this unless i forget everything which i will in six months either way id rather wait for rise of the golden idol i like the 70s vibe more than the 3 century old vibe of this
I love the "if it was made by fromsoftware" line, it's sad but true. If it were made by any overrated developer this game would be a bomb everyone would care about it, replace fromsoft from that with any other overrated guy and it works just the same "if it was made by the guy who made undertale/the guy who mae fnaf/the guy who made isacc/the guy who made heltaker" etc, it just works.
FromSoftware is so "overrated" because they've made multiple great games, and even a new genre of games (I don't even like playing the games but I can still recognize that they're great), similar opinions go to the other games, Undertale is incredible, Isaac is incredible, FNAF depends but it's pretty good, I've never heard of Helltaker
Thank you for this review! I've been hyperfixating on this game for the last weeks, and you did an awesome summary of it. I love how clever and full of details the game is. Like every detail has details. 😂 Thanks again for your review! 🫶✨
