People are asking me to make more of these Masterclasses! 😮🎉 Do you have any requests? Faure: Elegy and Bruch: Kol Nidrei are already on the list! Comment below! 👇🏻
I found that advices really useful, I will definitely try out to get in the right character that haydn d major needs👍 Hoping more masterclasses like this
Hi! That was so inspiring! Your such a great cellist and have amazing tips and tricks! I would love if you could please do the bach Suite Prelude I would really Appreciate that! 😊
Like your opera approach. Correct in singing style. Must be played with a combination of fun, joy, and love. And go like hell in the third movement. Thanks for your thoughts and for bringing old memories to life.
Thank you, Ilia, for these useful tips. I specially enjoy the advice on the overall atmosphere of the piece: à la the opera, light, joyful, ... I would really like your take on Kol Nidrei by Max Bruch. (Which is of a totally different emotion of course.)
Thx a lot for your inspiring explanation and giving us -cello players - so many things to think about ! I just started to study the prelude of the Dm suite nr.2 of J.S.Bach ! Can you guide us little bit through this puece ? 1000x thx already !
thanks for sharing this, i have been looking forward to it since announcement LOL. too bad there was no time left to talk about the cadenza a little. I would really love to hear your thoughts on that. :) thank you! Mr. Laporev. :)
Do you have any tips for that 10th from D to F sharp that you mentioned? I have big hands although i dont feel stable enough to do the 10th and keep a good sound, always feel the need to shift. Thanks for the great video! 21:59
Hi Ilia - great lesson today - you have mentioned in the past that you play with a heavier cello bow. I would be interested to know what weight you consider is a heavy bow and what is the weight of the bow you are using during the Haydn video Thank-You Caroline
Hi Caroline! Thank you so much! It’s true, I am currently playing on a heavy bow (which for me personally is quite challenging for music like Haydn or Bach). Your question is a good one which I cannot answer right now. Need to weight the bow before I can tell.
Hi IIia thank-you for your reply to my question about the weight of your bow, I guess the balance of the bow is important no matter how much it weighs..it’s a huge subject which could go on and on..Regards Caroline
@@IliaLaporevcellist Thank you for your interest! I would be interested to know other important technical aspects of this concert. Such as how you learn passages, by what logic you distribute the bow. Thanks for your attention!
I noticed the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra had an opening for the principle cellist earlier this year. Did you just land this position? Congratulations!
Indeed! There was an audition for principal cellist a month or so ago. Unfortunately they didn’t take anyone. The one I did was in November 2022 :) Because our orchestra needs two principal cellos.
Thank you for sharing! If you have any other requests, please share. In the comments someone asked for Bach Prelude No. 2, so soon there will be a mini masterclass of it.
