This song inspired me to start learning guitar at age 17, still back in 2009. Now I am approaching 29, and I still play guitar and am in a band now. Without this song here, I would not have dared, so thank you big time for the motivation.
My rough take at it, though the audio is really bad thanks to the crowd's shouting: All around us is the sky We are free We are the moon and the sea We are exhumed from pillars of ice and envelop thee I am a creature of the moon
Getting old is a natural process of humankind and change of his sound is inevitible. Even though this is sad it's fine. What is not is their change of seeing their music. They used to believe in what they do about all these poetric and literall lyrics and complex melodies. After nympthetamine all seems like heartless relaeses with the prime purpose of money. So sad. Videos like these helps me remember the old CoF and makes me smile. It's an amazing job what Ice Knight did.
"I watch the storm approaching, the darkness calls my name The trees are growing restless, they feel the seasons change Their fruit has putrified, forbidden once and bound to die The thread of life lies severed, on the brink of paradise" yyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Same way I feel! I love cradle of filth no matter the album! They are just amazing. And every album is different yet true to them. The contents are all dark. The sound changed from gothic black metal to more symphonic and then over time to death and then back to their earlier sound, so it's just that they kept changing and changing and in the end they are extreme metal taking influences from everywhere and I appreciate everything they do!!! :D HAIL CRADLE OF FILTH!!!! GODS OF METAL!!! :D
Wow, Dani's voice was freaking shrill. This was the best they were almost. I think their prime was when Gian first joined though. But this video, and song, is just cool.
Now If Cradle Was Still Like That I Would Still Like Them Dont Really Like Them For There Fewer Cds But Their New One Is An Improvement So Hope They Get Back To The Old School.
@AppalachianKnight77 They don't even claim that. Look at the interview with the bands. Dani always says that they are classified as Gothic metal. however, he did say that his first album was heavily influenced by Norwegian black metal, but then they found their own style after this album. Also, they cross genres really. They got black metal screaming, death metal growls, gothic and doom metal feelings. Basically, they are extreme metal, but not pure black metal.
On October they're going to release the cd/dvd "Evermore Darkly". We'll get the first song from Midnight in the Labyrinth: Summer Dying Fast orchestral version!
@angelicbaby92 It's actually kind of complicated , EVEN if Dani never claimed that they were Black Metal he obviously didn't do anything to clear up the misconception. Listen to their own biographical cd "Maximum Filth" (which came out in 2,000) in which the narrator speaks of Cradle of Filth as "a British Black Metal" band. And that was in 2,000 after the release of From the Cradle to Enslave and around the time of the release of Midian. And most times I have heard them labeled as Black Metal
@AppalachianKnight77 I get what you're saying, but the band itself classifies themselves as gothic metal (not solely). They say extreme gothic metal basically, but they have a bit of black metal elements. I was spending an hour looking through youtube interviews and I simply cannot find the interview! Maybe it was in a documentary! I'm sorry, but I do clearly remember that Dani did say that to clear up the misconception. I can't find it. :[ Hopefully, you believe me. haha.
iceKnight, i must say uve impressed me so much with these old videos, are u able to hook me up with the videos so i dont need to depend on youtube to see such a beautiful thing?
@KaraSouvSoury I tell people, it's not traditional Black Metal that hates contemporary Cradle of Filth but it's the fact that Cradle of Filth have vigorously changed their stance on Black Metal yet still claim the genre.
@angelicbaby92 well yeah, I don't know what to say, Maximum Filth (look it up on Amazon) deems them Black Metal, Rhapsody deems them black metal and I have been a fan since 1998 and have heard them called BM among fans, magazines and websites ever since the release of Cruelty and the Beast so if that has "changed" then it's been in recent years. Even in 09' when CoF toured "Satyr" of Satyricon said (between songs) "we and Cradle, the Black metal powerhouses are back to the states!"
If you had a reap knowledge of black metal, you would know they aren't traditional black metal. They have influences for sure, but they are so many other things...
See, this is what I mean. I never get an answer, people always say they sold out and never say why. So from now on I'm assuming people are just saying that and don't know what they're talking about.
@angelicbaby92 But "I CANNOT" say for sure that Dani did not say that and maybe he did! They do have a gothic presence in their lyrics, image, album art etc. I have had heard them called Gothic Black Metal and even Vampyric Black Metal so that's close to the description you give. When I just think Gothic Metal I usually think of bands like Nightwish, Theatre of Tragedy, Within Temptation, Moonspell, Sins of Thy Beloved, Sirenia etc.
wow, nvr heard old cof b4 so i decided to look up the oldest live performance i could find and shit, this is fuckin way better then the new shit. You could just feel the hate coming from danis voice. but im not baggin on their newer stuff, thats all still pretty brutal. eh, rambling. hard not to when you're stoned i guess XD
