I watched your videos a few times and decided to try this…after seeing others that used 8.5 x 11 paper and I just couldn’t get it to fit my paper pads! Yours works so well. I have years and years of SU DSP that I never finished using. They’re all cute papers but just not current. So I sat down yesterday and got started! I love the way they turned out. I’ve made 6 so far.. Quick and easy! Thanks so much for this!
I love these Notepad Covers and that they are reusable.......not to mention that it is wonderful way to use up a full 12 x 12 sheet of discontinued dsp! TFS
Sorry, I have never sold at a craft fair but I'm looking forward to selling at one. I really like what you did with these notebooks and I'm gonna try to make some. Thanks for sharing this idea.😊❤🎉
I am SO SO happy & relieved to know that I am not the only crafter that does not know how to cut! 😂 99% of my cuts have a curve at the end ..no matter the scissors I use. Thank you so much for sharing this simple, yet perfect notebook! It’s exactly what I was looking for to add as inserts in my Christmas folios.new subbie 😃 Oh yes, my eyes are really bad! I constantly switch back from my readers to progressives. I’ve learned to just have patience 😀
Love this !!! Would love to see a 3x 5 made the same way!! If someone has figured out the same way to make this for a 3x5 and the measurements please reach out to me
Thank you so much! Just found this today and I've already made 4 of them. The directions were easy to follow and "on my level" as a beginner. Thanks for sharing! 💛
@@TheArtfulAddict thank u for great share. These are great, quick, & Beautiful! & Please, just ignore them creatures, that obviously weren't raised right. Happy crafting!
Great idea! Love the clear instructions. I’m startg to make my first one to use as a craft ideas/projects list. First time commenting here. TFS your fabulous project and inspiring me!
The Artful Addict - I’m still working on them & am looking for a way to add an enclosure or strap band ... like a hair band ... I’ll post to my Instagram account when I’m done @ CeliasCustomCreation
The Artful Addict - okay I finally figured out the band! Had to run to Walmart for hair bands & more laminating sheets. I tagged you ... ❤️ #CeliasCustomCreation
I have checked out Dollar General and Dollar Tree and could not find them. So, I will try after the first of the year. Perhaps I can make some for a spring craft fair that I will be attending.
You are really throwing a lot of good ideas. I enjoy watching you especially now that Xmas is just around the corner. Your art is great for gift giving. Always a keepsake. Love it.
I just found this! What great detailed instruction and at a pace I can follow. Going to make these for Christmas gifts. Liked and subscribed! Thank you for sharing!
Great project so thanks for sharing. Suggestion when you’re cutting score lines. People recognize “right of the score” and “left of the score” vs “inside/outside”
Hello again! You mentioned here you were going to do a tutorial showing your closure ideas... Would you mind showing your ideas....unless I missed the video? I’m a newbie at crafting and journals are my new love, as a newbie I need easy hehehe Have a beautiful day evening Barb 😀
My goodness, I never did make a video on closures, thank you for reminding me! Barbara, I'll try to have it done and posted within the next week or two. Thanks again!
Stumbled unto your video and I subscribed. Very nice video. Thank you for sharing. Look forward to some more of your ideas. Loved the small notepad with the elastic too.
Hi Gina! Absolutely fabulous video. I just love Amber and have been watching her forever. I'm a new subscriber from Kentucky. I'll be making a bunch of these for a show in 2 weeks. Going to watch more of your videos. Love your closure ideas.
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you create these folders, what a fantastic idea 💡, and I really really love 💕 how they all turned out. I’ve subscribed and given you a thumbs up 👍 too. Looking forward to seeing what you do next. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Well done! Your mini pad cover could be Postage Stamp container. I am from London and people are reluctant to pay more than a couple of pounds even at church events. I just craft for my friends and family and church members. The real money is at posh shops in resorts, so I would go for "Woolworths" successful policy, stack them high and sell them cheap. With economy in the West going the way it is headed we may all find a market for cheap and cheerful gifts. I suggest doing say three of one item, but of increased quality by adding sentiment or sticker on front.
Sherry, this tutorial is so beautifully and encouraging on how we can use a gift box to make a gift that keeps giving! Sherry, I have some chip board but when I ordered it I received the lighter weight by mistake. However, I use additional chip board alone with cereal boxes etc to get the proper weight. Is this appropriate when there is a need for a firmer weight? This tutorial is great in giving us an alternative solution for this project. Thanks for your illustration as to how we can create a nice gift an additional way! God bless you!
Unfortunately, the event I made them for encountered bad weather shortly after getting set up so that event was a wash...literally. I'm just glad I packaged them in cellophane so they didnt get wet! But, I still have them and want to make more for when craft fairs start up again.
Just found and subscribed to your channel. Not sure how I got here, but I'm glad I did. Are you ok with others using this pattern to sell items at craft fairs?
Wow, you'll be busy! Embellishing depends on the paper, I suppose.uou could use paper flowers or add a banner with a title or use words or phrases. I left mine un-embellished so it remained flat to make it easy to put in your purse and take with you. If you had thinlits or a punch you could make a decorative tab to use as a label. Hope that helps and inspires! Happy crafting ❤
This was an awesome tutorial! 🙆🏽♀️....Thank you for taking the time to record your process!...I am planning a full day of creating the weekend and am DEF adding this to the list of pieces to make 🤗...And your bonus items at the end 🤯 lol....Love the closure ideas ESPECIALLY the one with the magnet...Did you charge more than $3 for the one w/ the magnet cover?
So glad you enjoyed the tutorial! The event was outdoors and got rained out.. after I had already set up, of course! I wasn't going to sell the magnetic closure one, but if I did, then I might would have started at 4 dollars and reduced if need be. Thanks so much for watching! Please check out my channel page where you can peruse through all of my videos. You may find another one you enjoy. Thanks again!
is there any way to keep things from falling out of the pocket on the side? Not the paper side. I put some small items in and they fall out when you open it
You could make a straight pocket on the left instead of having it curve. Or you could put a little dab of glue on the inside bottom of the pocket to help keep items from coming out. Hope those options are helpful!
Just wondering how much would you charge for one of these at a craft fair? I’m thinking of making some but just want to get to advice on how much to sell for?
If selling only the folder with pad, I would price the from $1.00 to maybe $1.50 depending on the venue. I packaged mine together with a simple homemade, coordinating card and a pen in a cellophane bag for $5.00.
I get most of my paper from My Creative Scrapbook's monthly kit, but you can Google the name brands of quality manufacturers, such as Prima Marketing, 49 and Market, Graphic 45, Blue Fern Studios, to name a few - there are lots of options - then browse until you find papers that you like. 🙂
Thanks so much. My response was delayed as I was trying to gather information. Most all of the paper I have come via my monthly scrapbooking kit. The weight of the paper tends to very based on the company. 49 and Market paper is really heavy; Prima Marketing paper is a good mid-weight, and Kaiser Craft paper is a light weight (quality copy paper). Ive search and searched to locate paper weight associated with specific companies, but I wasn't getting anywhere.
Hi Marlee, thank you for the question. You can still use a ruler even if you don't understand the units of measure. Sometimes we use a ruler to help ensure our fold on one side matches the fold on the other side. In the video, you can see the size of each fold, so pick a line on the ruler that is about the same size as what was shown. Or, you can choose another measurement reference that will serve as your unit of measure, such as the length of your thumbnail. The standard water bottle lid measures one inch across, so 1/2 inch would be from the edge to the middle of the cap. It is a good idea to learn how to read a ruler and would make your crafting life easier. I bet there are youtube video tutorials available to teach you. In the meantime, I hope my suggestions are helpful. There are lots of tutorials that show how to make pretty things that don't really require measuring. Please checkout my video posted today. Good luck, and happy crafting!
Hi Maralee W R Memories Keepers have all the numbers on their scoreboard trimmer. Example; 1, 1/8,1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, I hope this helps. All their products have the numbers marked.
I put them at 3.00 and then some I added a card that matched and a pen and charged 6.00 for those. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate that day and the event never really got going, but I still have them!
I never got to find out. It was an outdoor event and got washed out by the rain. I've given a few away, but still have several. Hopefully I will get another chance to sell them!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and instruction. I've gotten a few comments on my voice and it always surprises me. I'm always afraid my voice sounds crackly, or I speak to slowly. I often have long pauses when speaking, which I try to edit out. Probably TMI but your comment is very reassuring and appreciated! ♥️🧡💜
More to your question, no, I am not a teacher, but I have managed, led groups and trained others. I mostly assume those watching are new to crafting and so try provide instruction in a way that is easy to understand. I'm very glad you found it helpful 😊
I just found your channel, and the one thing I'm confused about is, why did you bother scoring the spine when you cut it out of this project? Very confusing J/S!
Hi Barbara, thanks for watching. My apologies, I'm not sure I understand your question. All of the ones I made have a spine including the one in the video. I do cut off the bottom piece of the spine, is that the part you're referencing?
