Just a handy tip if you don't have an adapter that fits your hose perfectly. I see a lot of 3D printed ones that address this problem and I see a lot of videos of people using ugly aluminum tape by the pound. Don't tape it AFTER you connect, tape the male adapter end BEFORE with blue painters tape. The simple answer to most of these misfitting hose to coupler is just build up about 1/4" of blue painters tape on the male end of any duct adapter, now slide the hose over the tape and, poof, perfect fit. In many case, don't worry about the clamps, just put enough blue tape on the adapter to it fits super snug, but if you want to clamp, you have this nice semi solid seal of the blue tape. All this talk about gaping of the hose when you clamp is taken care of.

Great video! Ur the 1st that I've seen to really take the time n explain step by step. The only thing I'd like to know a little more about it the blast gate. I've seen the file for it on the GF forums but I can't find a video of how it's actually made... Thanks!

The blast gate was a struggle at first for the same reason, no instructions on how to put it together! Are you in the FB group? It'd be easier for me to put some photos together to explain. If not maybe a short video to make later

Your craft room and Ikea furniture is so awesome!! I just love it all. Gotta admit the Little Green Monster popped it's head up with your video. I'll have a very similar set up for the GF but living in an apartment. I've already got the Switchbot button and hub and your web cam idea is a great idea. Hopefully it won't be bad with the fumes smell with the hose pointing out a street side window but I still will have neighbors aside and above me. I got a rolling table also since I will be getting the pro. It's like having a baby. So much to prepare for!

@LadyCrockettCrafts
@LadyCrockettCrafts 4 года назад
How exciting!! The crumb tray has a honeycomb shaped grate so the "honeycomb pins" can be pressed into the crumb tray grate holes to help pin down material so it doesn't move or to help material lay flat if it's got some warping.

SUper helpful video thank you! What setting do you put your inline fan on? I keep mine on full power but wonder if it is needed because it is so loud that way and so many say it is quieter!
@LadyCrockettCrafts
@LadyCrockettCrafts 3 года назад
I leave mine on full speed mostly too (mine is set up to turn on and off with my google home so it returns to the last setting I used automatically). As long as it is being pulled out and the smell isn't bothering you, the speed could be lowered. Play around and see what you like! Some low smoke materials I have turned it down but acrylic smells worse so it gets full speed every time!

@LadyCrockettCrafts

Yes I did cut off extra so that it is not droopy anywhere. Just consider if you will need any extra if you have the Pro and need to move your machine to use the pass-through like I explain in the video. You're welcome, thank you for watching!!

Very helpful video thanks. How much of a pain is it to remove the tape to clean the inline fan and how often do you do it? Thanks!
@LadyCrockettCrafts
@LadyCrockettCrafts 3 года назад
It is a little bit of a pain because my brackets under the tape are a little bent. I don't really mind the retaping other than my tape smells like fried onions for some reason 😝 I am not sure the recommended cleaning schedule but I roughly do it at about 6 months. Judging by the dirtiness that would suffice unless I cut more this year. I cleaned it with some electronics cleaner spray that is supposed to help deter build up on the fan blades. I don't use dirtier woods like pine either.

Hello, do you know if I can connect the inline fan to a fume extractor? I don't have the option to vent outside & the fume extractor I have isn't strong enough by itself to extract all the fumes.

Excellent tip! I think the damper on mine helps with that because I haven't had any issues but I do check it often. Depending on how much and what material one cuts it could definitely build up fast!

Thank you Vanna. This was super helpful! Well done. Thanks for such detailed info. Quick question: Do you reccomend one have both the blast gate and the backdraft damper or would the backdraft damper be sufficient with the auto closing that I assume occurs after the exhaust finishes/you're not using the machine? I found this backdraft dampener that might be even better although I'm wondering how either would work in the thin acrylic instead of what I assume it's designed for going through a wall or wood as both are long www.amazon.com/dp/B002FWR40K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_yrBcGb71MJPKN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
@LadyCrockettCrafts
@LadyCrockettCrafts 3 года назад
I do have both a backdraft damper and use the blast gate but hmm are both or either necessary probably not :) I have read about spiders getting into the machine so I am hoping a damper at the window will curtail that. I made and installed the blast gate as an extra shield after reading about people having condensation in their machines.
@LadyCrockettCrafts
@LadyCrockettCrafts 3 года назад
I checked out your link, and I'd just make sure it's getting enough air flow force to push open the damper sufficiently. Otherwise it'll keep the smoke in and we don't want that! If I had to pick one or the other between damper and blast gate, I'd go with a blast gate system. Just my 2 cent :)
@dickebk
@dickebk 3 года назад
@@LadyCrockettCrafts cool thanks for these replies. I definitely wanted the damper for the bugs and I was wondering if that would keep out the condensation since it’s closing things off from the outside I assumed but prob that gate also seals the varying temps that might be coming from inside the tubing and window. So prob better safe with both.
