Hi Kandye, wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your channel and your store. Everything I have purchased was top quality . To anyone viewing my comments, Kandye is the real thing! A lovely lady and a kind soul!❤❤❤
Incredible! There are infinite possibilities if we cut our own stencils! This is the part I dread. Sanding and waxing after the painting is finished - yikes! Thankfully the painting doesn't just disappear! LOL! It looks 'old'. Kandye what a beautiful antique replica! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm so impressed!
Hi there, I will be trying this, it’s something I have wanted to try but not knowing how to go about it. Thank you for teaching my sister and myself, we are going to try it soon. Need to get supplies. Wonderful Kandye 😊
This reminds me of back in the '70's. My mom antiqued everything, especially the decoupage on the scrap boards. That and gold leafing. Those black redware containers we bought from you look great on the counter.
I remember my Mom painting her bedroom set Olive green and doing that antiquey streaky stuff to it in the 70's! (It was hideous). I'm actually drawing on some of those memories because that was the Bicentennial of America and a revival of traditional crafts that are forgotten again today.
@@cabincrafts2239 We have a drop leaf table that Kathy's mom did the exact same thing to. Worse than that, we have the piano she did that to, using red instead of green. It's an old standup. Kathy still plays it.
The box is beautiful Kandye. What a difference Briwax makes to the finish project. Always wondered how my reproduction painted wood pieces looked aged, when I knew a carpenter in Ohio made the piece a few weeks previously..the trick was Briwax..😉 You my friend are a wealth of information, experience and knowledge. Take care and stay cool from Arizona 🌵
That turned out phenomenal, Kandye! I am not much of a collector. I have a small house and cannot have a lot of clutter. It started with an antique slate roof shingle my aunt and uncle from MD bought from an Amish painter with a barn scene painted on it, then a kitchen remodel and during it a beloved great aunt died and I inherited a large crock butter churn and some wooden molds, a must have small rooster painting followed for above my churn now, I need a box like that next to my kitchen door for keys and such. Do you sell them? Be blessed! xoxo
No, I just happened to have that one on hand! Sorry! I know I’ve seen small, unfinished boxes at Hobby Lobby though in the past, maybe they still have them.
Kandye, thank you so much for explaining this so well. I am obsessed with early American folk art like this. I researched tons earlier this year and could not find anyone on RU-vid showing actually how to create this style in simple terms and which brushes to use when. You’ve made this achievable! Thank you! thank you! thank you! I can hardly wait to try this again (I did one on a canvas but ai had a hard time staying in the folk art style as it was my first try). Can you pretty please show us more paintings that you have done and maybe even another instructional video with early folk art like this? Btw, I love all of the other traditional craft videos you’ve done… especially the floor cloth.
Thank you! Yes! I will try to do more in the future! In the meantime, do a Google search on Moses Eaton and Rufus Porter. There might be more videos out there on them, especially the murals they did on walls in the early 1800's. Thanks for watching my videos!
Absolutely love it, it's beautiful. It might be a dumb question, but would a very light wood stain work in place of the wax? Or would that cover anything up. Asking because I might still have some stain downstairs.
Don't forget to leave comments & watch the ads all the way through, as both help the algorithm & pay a teeny bit to Kandye! We all know she deserves this! Woohoo! Blessings all!
