Cheers Huw. They've definitely caught the attention of people and I've had some enquiries. Other than the endless amount of sanding, they are a lot of fun to make. I just need to come up with some different blade designs too.
Brilliant work John! They look super!!! Great to see you in action at the start! Was a little curious at the start, despite the description and thumbnail - blooming brilliant video!!! 👍👍👍
Thank you Dick. It was a really fun project and great that my Sensei was up for filming the first scene for me... other option would have been my garden, but it looks like a jungle currently. Hopefully will get to learn the full sequence soon and be able to put that out as a full video with kamas that I have to make for myself still. These ones are a bit too light for me and don't work so well for handspring. Glad you liked the video. Thank you for watching
Excellent form with your kata and a neat project. First I thought you were going to use a metal for the blade but it still looks pretty good. Well done John 😊
Thank you Jojo! I am working on a metal bladed one, but I am using hardened steel which needs to be heated up a lot for me to be able to cut shapes into it. So not yet had a chance to go back to that.
Thank you Doug! Yeah, they do have some nice sharp points, so do need to watch out where they are swung 🫣. I've had a few people say they would like some too, so it was definitely a hit when my daughter got them out in class.
