Woodworking is a hobby of mine and a way of stress relief from daily life. I enjoy making things that can be used around the house or by others. I am by no means an expert and most of my projects have little flaws in it where things could have been better. However, with every project I am learning.
I have decided to create this channel to share projects that I make and maybe it can inspire someone else to take up woodworking and woodturning as a hobby.

DISCLAIMER: My videos are for entertainment purposes only to share my work.
Woodturning/woodworking are dangerous and appropriate safety precautions need to be taken. Just because you saw it on RU-vid, does not mean you should do it. Anyone choosing to recreate anything that they see in my videos do so at their own risk, assumes responsibility and personal liability by doing so.

Great review mate being a glasses wearer steaming up is a big problem for me I think those foam inserts are a great idea I think I might have to treat myself to one of those masks
@JiggsysShed
@JiggsysShed 5 дней назад
Thank you. You may find that the mask itself works well for you without the foam bits, but they are inexpensive and do make a big difference for me. The feedback that I have from them is that the filtration of gases and vapours are limited. It's more for solid particles, so you may just require a different mask when using aerosols, but for the majority of what we do in the workshop, this mask is great!
@BASECAMPMASK
@BASECAMPMASK 6 дней назад
Awesome review! 👍 We’re glad the nose foam improved comfort and fit. Our mask is designed primarily for non-oil-based solid particles, and its protection against gases and vapors is limited.
@JiggsysShed

Thank you so much for the opportunity! This mask will definitely be used for a lot that I do. Thank you for your feedback about gases and vapours.

How do you get lightburn? Do you have to purchase it???
@JiggsysShed
@JiggsysShed 28 дней назад
You can download it from the Lightburn website and you can then get a 30day free trial. If asked what version you require, I went for the Gcode one. After the trial, it is then a one off purchase of the licence which is currently £57. If you want something that is free, you can always get LaserGRBL. To get to both websites, just pop the names into Google and it should be the first options.

Nice video, shame you didn't cover everything like where's the spanner? And what's the little metal clip slid into the inside of the dremel battery compartment at the top?
@JiggsysShed
@JiggsysShed 29 дней назад
Thank you for watching and commenting. I have done a reel more recently about the twist cap on the Dremel acting as a spanner. At the time I did this unboxing I did not realise that it had that use. In terms of the metal clip, I never even thought to look there and did not realise that was there. Not sure what it's use is or I have not come across anything where I needed it. Are you able to enlighten me about it?

Do you know if you could do some bowl coring on the herald ?
@JiggsysShed
@JiggsysShed Месяц назад
Unfortunately I am not sure about the answer to that. I think it has just enough power for it, but the machine might need to work too hard for it to be a viable option. It might be worth contacting Record Power direct to enquire about it.

@@JiggsysShed I will let you know … picked up a McNaughton set second hand … first time I need to put the belt on lowest gear ….
@JiggsysShed
@JiggsysShed Месяц назад
That would be good to know, thank you. I've only gone to belt 1 setting a few times when doing very out of balance pieces. Normally I'm on 2 for bowls and 3 for spindles.
@kellogs101101
@kellogs101101 5 дней назад
Tried it out on some wet lime wood last night. It worked and I got three bowls out of a 14 inch blank. Belt 1 required and it bogged down a good few times but it did it much easier than I thought. I was really impressed with it. Great lathe. Outboard turned 16 x 5 inch diameter green blank.
@JiggsysShed
@JiggsysShed 5 дней назад
@kellogs101101 that's a good! Great to be able to make the most out of a piece of wood. That is a good size outboard given that it would be heavier as well given the moisture content. Great going. I need to get myself the extended banjo so I can turn outboard. Currently only able to go up to 45degrees.

I've heard only good things about Coronet series lathes. They say Herald is not 1hp, but closer to 1.2-1.3. And it has all the bells and whistles one may want. I've heard you may want to aquire center to center male mt2 rod. It has a name I don't recall, but it helps lining up the headstock to tailstock dead on
@JiggsysShed
@JiggsysShed Месяц назад
Thank you for watching and commenting. Yeah the coronet series has definitely stepped up the game and the power for a small motor is great as they have managed to step up it's power output, so it does rival bigger machines well. The swivelling headstock and variable speed is definitely a big plus for me. Yeah, not sure of the exact name, but I know what you mean. Think I just call it a tailstock alignment tool. I haven't yet felt the need to get one, but I know it's available from Axminster Tools in the UK.

I tried this when I had to recast a shield for a miniature that my daughter ran off with and it disappeared somewhere in the house… I’m sure I’ll step on it some day… I used an old toothbrush and scrubbed the piece while running water over it… that worked to get rid of the play dough for me
@JiggsysShed
@JiggsysShed Месяц назад
That's a good idea with the water and the toothbrush. Thanks for the tip. Kids are definitely good at helping to lose all the little bits. Luckily most of it is their small toys they lose and often we find it under the sofa... Though currently I cannot find my guitar pick holder... though that could always be the cats as well that's swiped it off the side and under furniture.
