Because of you Bruce I learned repairing and/or making up new cables for my mowers. Nothing more disappointing then ordering a control cable as per part number and finding the cable is too short. In that case, it was my first repair to splice it longer to fit the mower, and repair the old original cable for a spare. I've save trips going to the mower repair shop, and not being satisfied in their job quality. Time is money on their end, they can't charge too much for the repairs vs. the value of your mower.

I have nearly the identical machine only mine has the primer bulb and I don't have the high wheels in the back. Not a fancy model but it has been a solid runner. The only issue I had was actually very recent and was the float bowl was sitting very low and not letting enough gas through to keep it running. Its one of those plastic floats and I had to carefully heat it up to make adjustments. I don't know how long that will last so am going to have a replacement on hand for when it goes.

Hey Bruce For the second time now (on Sunday), I’ve had to fabricate an autochoke spring. Also, the little arrowhead shaped spring hook was broken off, so I drilled a small hole in the arm and hooked on my new spring. Surprisingly, it ran without it and I also discovered the bi-metallic arm was all bent over. No idea how that could happen under the shroud. All good now!

Found a practically brand new Toro push mower with a Briggs auto choke on the road this summer. Runs good, problem is when I start it it runs real slow initially, just stumbles over barely staying going. But all I have to do is let it run like that for a few seconds, kill it, then start it again and it's fine. Strangest damn problem I've ever had with a small engine and I can't figure it out.

@@BrucesShop I ordered the 10 pack of those from your link here. With tax and shipping, they are $1.10 each (US). Much better than the $3 each I had to pay at a local place last week. But it was worth it, my customer would have had to pay almost $20 and wait a week if I ordered a new cable. $6 in Zed bends, $0.19 per foot for cable, sheath was good except plugged in the middle where the old one rusted and broke. I used the long part of the broken cable as a long flexible drill bit to drill it open again, rotorooter style. $7 is better than $20. Be on the lookout for a big check for your commission on the $11 Zed bend order.
