I have the same one a got about 7 years ago.. It works great.... It helped me run conduit straight in a warehouse on industrial metal shelving. The magnet on the back was a lifesaver! The area I was wiring needed light so the laser light itself helped tremendously :)

@ghostses 10 лет назад
I agree- they do work great. I can see how it made the conduit running easier. Much better than tapes and levels- especially if you're working alone. Thanks for the story, G.

I bought mine at a garage sale a few years back and never really used it. I paid $5 for it. Now we moved and are hanging pictures up and it is coming in handy except I just found out my dial to turn it vertical doesn't work so that's a bummer. Thanks for posting this video!

ghostses Thanks for Laser Trac demo. The thumb dial on mine is stuck (no movement) on a new, never used product found in my father’s garage. Any ideas to release the dial ?

Hi "6 years ago Nathan". I did the same exact thing. I bought mine at a yard sale for $5 and am finally getting around to trying it. I wish he had shown how to use it to hang pictures. Onto the next video.

Yep, that's the one I used. Got it at an estate sale for $10. Worth the price. Nice review. You should have slapped those glasses over the camera for a second, to see if the line would have been more visible. You know just for giggles. LOL Once again a good view.

That's cool. Good score at 10 bucks for sure. I should have tried the glasses but it slipped my mind. Take care, G.

Nicely done ghostses! Putting up a small outside building 21 x 36 and need something to measure out and square up and level the lot. That means I'll need to excavate and level the base the building will be mounted on. With a little tweeking I believe I should be able to use this as a transit. This will be an outside project. Have a small camera tripod to mount it on and hopefully use a protractor to offset the corners of building to some extent. Its not something that you use every day. Had it for about 10 years setting around and located it a day ago. Will probably have to stake the lot out after dark :) KK
@ghostses
@ghostses 8 лет назад
+kiotipass Thanks! I see no reason you couldn't use it as a transit. Getting it to stay level while you spin the tripod head might take a little effort, but it could be done. I would use a torpedo level to level the base of the tripod first, then mount the laser and level it. It might be a little easier, but I'm not sure. You could even use a 1x2 to mark your scale on. If you still have the red glasses, you might even be able to see it in the daytime- not sure since I've never tried. Good luck with your project! G.

Thank You! I was given mine without instructions. This helps a lot! I wish I knew how to use the wall mount...? In any case. I appreciate the info. :)
@ghostses
@ghostses 7 лет назад
No problem! The wall mount has pins that will stick out. You hold it to the wall, then push the pins in. I've never used the wall mount since it would leave holes in the wall. Good luck, G.

I got one at a garage sale, new in the box for $20. What he didn't tell me was that he never got to use it because the level is not leveled horizontally and this is the only instrument I have ever seen that comes with not zero-ing capabilities... which means: if the instrument is not level from factory poor quality controls, like mine, then you can't level it or take it back to zero... totally useless. I will have to disassemble it and see if I can level it... and there, my friends, lyes the answer to the question many people are asking "why is sears closing...?" are you kidding!? of course they are closing...
@OpticaltrendsUs2014
@OpticaltrendsUs2014 7 лет назад
I just disassembled it and the problem was a small piece of magnet that got stocked at the bottom of the lazer dial... I guess it was assembled on very dirty bench...
@ghostses
@ghostses 7 лет назад
Well I guess that's cool- but shouldn't have had to be done. At least now hopefully it will be useful. Thanks for the info, G.

I am having the same issue, my horizontal dial wont turn. Also I set it to level, but when I look at the wall it is way off level. Frustrating.

Can anyone tell me the degree of projection? Does it project an even 180 or is it a bit less due to the plastic molding of the device?

Out of the box, the bubble levels on top read differently if you turn it 90 degrees?!

@timothydahl2777
@timothydahl2777 2 года назад
I mean, if I set it up on a tripod, level both bubbles, the bubbles should stay in the middle? Sorry I’m having trouble with what seems like a basic concept, but it doesn’t work that way on mine and I have no other experience with laser levels. I’m hoping you can at least get a chuckle from me…!
@ghostses
@ghostses 2 года назад
@@timothydahl2777 I see. You have to level the tripod mount in all directions first, then put this on and make small adjustments to get it turning level and proper. You can't just mount it to the pod, level it, and expect it to rotate in a level plane. Hope this helps, G.

How can I use this for ceiling read outs?
@ghostses
@ghostses 3 года назад
I don't know. I've never tried to use it for ceilings. I guess you could use a tilting tripod to point it upwards. G.
@johnf5122
@johnf5122 2 года назад
You would make a reference marks from the laser line that is projected on the wall. Then you can measure the distance from your marks to the ceiling. Such as if you made the marks about 3" down (or as close to the ceiling as you can) then a perfectly level ceiling would measure 3" at every mark. If it measures 2.5" at one point, the ceiling is 0.5" too high there. You'd need to either use a tall leveled tripod that mounts in the base or use the grab teeth shown in the video on the mount to secure it at the ceiling center or have some level metal plate mounted on the ceiling that the laser magnet can mount on. Any way you choose, you still must make sure the laser itself is adjusted to be level before making any marks. You can also check to make sure your setup is working by using a 4' level on the laser line at any point. Never look at ANY laser with or without ANY type of glasses, but also make 100% sure, it points at no eyes (others, children, pets, etc.)

martin nolasco, what dial is stuck, the one on the laser body for horizontal or vertical manipulation or the base (has 3 knobs that adjust to level to 0)?

Got the same. When leveled on base (bubbles) its off so much that the base can barely dial in a level line. Worse waste of money ever. I bought it at half price and now I know why. Why have the bubble markers on the unit if you can't fine tune the stops on the dial!!?? Worst design ever. Look elsewhere. Trust me.
@ghostses
@ghostses 8 лет назад
+John V Thanks for the post John. I don't have that problem with mine. I use the bubbles to get it close, then hold a level at the line to verify and make small adjustments to get it correct. It's probably not the best design, but has worked well enough for my purposes. Hopefully you can find a reasonably cost unit to meet your needs. Good luck and take care, G.
@jValachovic
@jValachovic 8 лет назад
+ghostses I opened the case and there are 2 screws to adjust the stops on the dial. I drilled two holes on each side of the case to access them externally. Just set the bubbles to level and adjust the stops to proper level. done. Cheap Chinese crap... Can't even calibrate the product correctly. Mine was 1" off per 12" at level. insane.
@ghostses
@ghostses 8 лет назад
+John V That's a great mod, but I agree- it shouldn't have been needed in the first place. I could see it being off a little, but that is insane! G.
